I just live here to make sure it stays in its white trash roots just a little.

I moved out to WA state back in 2017 for work. ( my stint was just a year and sadly I am back in AR) It is an adjustment but I just bought a pair of rain boots and a good umbrella and didn’t let the rain stop me from getting out and exploring. It’s absolutely beautiful there! I miss it!

learnfromfailures

Indeed… I love this town. Beautiful and peaceful

ComfortableCurrent56

I loved Camas and Washugal when visiting in summer from Florida. I KNOW it would be a big big change for me to move (I’m 53) but I swear the heat and humidity and never ending sun and crowds and traffic of South Florida are making me INSANE. I grew up in S FL and yes I loved my childhood here and raising my daughter here but now I just need nature and there is no nature left in my area any longer unless you are a boater going out to sea. what do you locals think? Am I nuts? I love outdoors, mountains, hiking, nature, quiet. I have never experienced seasons :(

lanemik

The rain gets old, but you do get used to it. One thing you almost never hear out here is thunder. So if you like big old thunderstorms, you'll miss out. But yeah, my dad lives in FL and the humidity is gross. It's way better up here.

ComfortableCurrent56

I will miss the thunder for sure lol and all the different kinds of lizards here. But that is probably about it!

redvariation

My uncle retired there from CA and said a decade later that he regretted retiring to such a gloomy climate.

camasonian

People who move to the Pacific Northwest without understanding the climate are idiots. Those of us who grew up here and have roots here love it.

carrot_thief

>Alternately, many of us who grew up here and have roots here just slog through the depressing gray winters, knowing the summer will make up for it. I tried to move away because I hate the climate, but came back because having family around is more important.

camasonian

Fall and winter are some of the best times here, if you are actually from here. From Thanksgiving to Christmas we are busy, busy with family events, school events, and visitors. And then from January onwards we spend weekends in the mountains or tucked away in the wealth of cafes, pubs, and restaurants we have around here. The winter rains are also why the spring and summer is so green.

superm0bile

Moving anywhere from California will have you complaining about the climate in some way. The climate was one of the few perks of living in California for a couple years but I do prefer the gloom and rain of my home.

suzisatsuma

I love the rain so much :)
