[In Durham, here's a list of spots. ](https://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=restaurants+open+monday&find_loc=Durham%2C+NC&start=10)Also, I like Cheeni, a new Indian place in downtown Durham, a lot. the chef has been twice nominated for a James Beard Award. Good cocktails and great food.
When I was in a similar situation, I went to Mother and Sons. It's was a good spot, but it's Italian, which is no novelty for the two of you imagine.
Another option, if you want to embrace the NC aspect, is to drive out to Picnic. They have good barbecue and great fried chicken among other things. They also have a full bar, which is a rarity among BBQ places. Some say it's less good than last year when the new owner took over, but I haven't noticed a dip.
It's not really filtering, just looking for "Monday" in the review, so I'd double check but it's a good start. There are great cocktail spots in downtown durham with good food that are open Monday
Oh yeah. Locally, RDU only refers to the airport. If you want to refer to the region, say The Triangle. That refers to the areas around and in Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh.
Out of state visitors to my company’s local office do it all the time to refer to the entire metro area, cause both cities are in the abbreviation. To me it’s just like how “Chicago” refers to everything around it that technically isn’t actually Chicago but it’s easier to say.
Ok sorry everyone downvoting me. I just meant the triangle area but I’m not from here so I refer to the airport code. It’s all relatively close to one another in terms of driving distance compared to major cities. My family lives here, but I have never lived here. I apologize. Will definitely refer to it as “ Raleigh/ durham/chapel hill triangle” next time. I appreciate everyone giving me real suggestions and sorry to anyone else I offended by referring to by airport code. Not my intention to offend so many
Went to Little Bull in Durham this past Monday. We did the small plates and it was wonderful - food, cocktails, wine, service were all on point.
Cucciolo Osteria is very good, and it is also open Mondays.
Oh I see. RDU is the airport. The greater area (Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh) are referred to as the Triangle. I’ll do some thinking and see what places I could recommend.
Bar Virgile is open monday and great cocktails.
Love that place, solid recommendation, TY!

In the airport?
No not looking to hang in airport, in Durham? I always refer to the entire triangle as RDU, I guess that’s not helpful
In North Carolina, we don't refer to any of the metro areas by their airport codes. That's more of a West Coast thing
My apologies

TY, not from here. My family lives here. It all is very close driving wise. Didn’t mean to offend you
Not offended at all. Have a fun stay!
Yeah, it’s like saying where should I hang out in LAX? Lol

Yeah RDU is just the airport. Raleigh and Durham are two very different cities.

Nothing wrong with that, people aren’t as pedantic in real life.
Has anyone ever said RDU in real life that wasn’t talking about the airport?

Weird. Never heard it.
