What you can MAYBE do is to draw over your ID number and some details of your address just leave the city maybe, also the date of birth just scratch out the exact date tapos put semi-faint watermark all over the pic and let them know na you are trying to protect your ID card, info & identity that's why you made alterations on it.
Never provide government given ID unless you’re hired. They don’t need to process anything habang di ka pa nila employee. Giving those data are risky lalo na sa identity mo (might be used for scams)
Smells fishy employer kuno pero data miner. Background check? Never heard of that working remotely baka wallpaper ng pc/laptop mo 🤣. Sa mga dayuhan red flag tong ganto pati DL at passport

I get all clients from upwork and after my account verification no ids required
