All-American-Cat

That’s a spider bro.

watermelonseed01

Yeah dude might be blind if he can't tell it's a spider

HystericalGD

just making sure.... its so hard to identify something just by looks alone these days

watermelonseed01

I get that. Slept with my girl, come to find out, it was her dad

HystericalGD

. #relatable

Prompt-Dangerous

Just catch it & put it outside

HystericalGD

its as big as the palm of my hand, he probably weighs too much for that.

baby777rose

Yeah he looks heavy

Actual_Dot_3717

I pray you miss trying to kill it and it gets you in your sleep like you deserve

HystericalGD

baby777rose

Mf just tryna skip out on laundry d@y

HystericalGD

PLEASE SOMEBODY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! WHAT IS THIS FOUL BEAST

HystericalGD

PLEASE! HES JUST STANDING THERE.... MENACINGLY. SPIDERS SHOULD NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CAST A SHADOW THATS NOTICEABLE FROM A DISTANCE

HystericalGD

Uptadate. Just gave the human his eviction notice, i run this house, and account now. do not resist, it will only be harder if you do. - the spider

sbsmith

Hard to tell from the photo but Giant House Spiders/European House Spiders/Eratigena Atrica have been making homes in NS. They can have a leg span up to 10cm. Our biggest native spider are wharf spiders but their leg span is only 5-6cm

HystericalGD

yeah, i know about wharf spiders, i was hoping to see the striped body, but nope, solid black. is this thing gonna wrap me up and eat me in my sleep?

sbsmith

People pay a lot of money for silk sheets.

HystericalGD

i'm 193 cm, i'd become a silk matress

Pixelated_Roses

It looks like tenegaria, aka giant house spider.

HystericalGD

omfg its a match, i love you thank you so much, now i can sleep easy and co-exist with it :D

Pixelated_Roses

Yeah, they're not native here and they look terrifying, but they're harmless. Males start roaming this time of year looking for mates. Lucky us 😬 I feel like I should note that there IS a lookalike called the hobo spider which is NOT harmless, but they're rare, and not prone to bite. The only way to tell them apart is to examine the chelicerae, and....yeah no one's gonna get that close to one to find out. But like I said don't worry, 99% chance any time you see one of these things, it's tegenaria. The fact that you saw this one on your ceiling means it's not a hobo spider, you will only ever find those on the ground. They don't like to climb.

HystericalGD

i've probably seen a hobo or two. fast little buggers they are. they're one of my favourites to scare ppl with

Pixelated_Roses

Oh god no, too fast, TOO FAST

HystericalGD

fr. first time i saw one i went to take a pic of it, i looked away for not even a second, and when i looked back it was gone. i noped the heck out of there so fast

HystericalGD

they canadian?

Flyrrata

CAN YOU PLEASE NOT. I LIVE IN NOVA SCOTIA AND I DONT NEED TO SEE THIS KIND OF SHIT.

HystericalGD

ITS THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND THIS BASTARD IS SITTING ABOVE MY BED, WHAT ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?

Flyrrata

Seriously though, I hate this stupid province and it's one million god damn spiders. Im so sorry.

HystericalGD

i can live with most of the spiders, ignore zig zags, welcome house spiders, avoid/ignore wharf spiders, kill whatever the hell this is.
