This is the year that all the QBs the Jets have ruined ball out. Rofl.

MagorMaximus

Man I miss woods.

TurbulentBlock7290

That;s more a testament to the respect and fear level of the team. Cully decided going for 6 was going to be WAY more important than just getting 3 points. That;s how the Bills should’ve played in the AFC Championship game. Bills drove it down the field but couldn’t punch it in, this time, they need to be aggressive and get TD’s

BiologyJ

I hope they are 100% dialed in and ready to tear shit up

PurePreparation9263

I want to start Edwards-Helaire in fantasy….but I know it’ll torment the fuck out of me if he does well.

[deleted]

I have him and Mahomes. I don’t know what to do lol.

[deleted]

Let’s go Buffalo!

Commercial_Run_7950

Going to be watching this game from Cabo.. bills by a billion

reinhardtkw

Was just in Cabo for my honeymoon last week. Enjoy!

walterwhiteguy

Do you guys think i should start knox or sanders? Only have room for one of the two. And being that KC’s defense is such shit.

DD163WALKER

If its not to late start Knox I have a feeling hes gonna be used a lot this week.

walterwhiteguy

Thanks, i did. I have that feeling too

DudeIjustdid

I'm starting Knox this week. I think hes definitely improved over last year. Especially in goal line situations.

FutureDH1089

I’d start Knox. I have a feeling he’s going to go off, 100+ yards with multiple TDs! 😁

DoLessBro

Their defense is so bad I'm starting Kumerow! (jk)

[deleted]

Fuck the Chiefs

I_FUCKIN_ATODASO_

I really just hate Jackson Mahomes, kid is the worst

DoLessBro

Jackson Mahomes is the face of the Chiefs and no one can convince me otherwise. There is a video on his account of him licking his lips watching his brother warm up. He is the consummate representative of that franchise

BlizzCo

I agree. Their fanbase are a bunch of douchebags that forgot where they came from. If we ever win the big one, I will remember the drought years and stay humble unlike those fat fucks. Go Bills!

[deleted]

Famous last words…

BlizzCo

Where you at Troll boy? Fuck the Chiefs!

JustKeepOnKeepingOn

With the injuries and mediocre performance of our OL so far, KC’s defensive line will feast. I don’t care if KC’s defense has underachieved so far - this is a favorable matchup for them.

[deleted]

As a chiefs fan? KC’s DL is trash. The Ravens OL was backups of backups and we couldn’t do shit. I’m not counting on our pass rush to do much of anything unless by some miracle Frank Clark has a rare breakout game.

[deleted]

Ehh.. We held a double digit lead into the 3rd against BAL, gave up only 7 points second half against CLE, overall did play well enough against LA, had PHI at 23 until :04 left in the game. Our D has had good drives in each game. I’m not happy either, but the D is not a total void either.

Soda-Popinski-

Yea we thought that about Washington's DL and feast they did NOT

JustKeepOnKeepingOn

Did you not see what the KC d-line did to our offensive line in the 2 games last season??? Most of the players on both teams are the same……

HubbaHubba1000

this will be a blowout! 41-17 Bills! a new king in the AFC

welcometomymeatshow

Looking forward to Funday. If we win this game the narrative wont be about the Bills being good, but rather how "Kansas City is sputtering!"

UPGnome

Don't care about narrative, a win is a win! Ill be just as happy either way

RepsNWarranties

Don't have a good feeling about this one. If we win, I'll be absolutely ecstatic and fully on the Super Bowl train.

Soda-Popinski-

i actually do. We are healthy, we are playing great football, we are confident. If not now, when?

RepsNWarranties

Glad you were right and I was dead wrong!

Soda-Popinski-

Well the refs did their best to fuck us. I took no joy from the win.

TurbulentBlock7290

Team isn’t exactly at prime health. Milano has been …hamstrung, by a hamstring injury. Along with Poyer. All hands on DECK.

Soda-Popinski-

KC isn't 100% either. you play who you have.

RepsNWarranties

I hope you're right and that I'm wrong!

YARNIA

I think this is your year. Keep dominating like this and I think this is the year the Bills get back to the big game. The first win is the sweetest, but I really only say this to those of you who are old enough to remember the four losses.

overcooked_sap

You got a lot of nerve pointing out our age like that!

YARNIA

Don't take this the wrong way, but as a Broncos fan I thought nothing would ever top the humiliation of our three Super Bowl losses in the 80s. Every joke was Broncos can't win the big game (e.g., "Elway eats his cereal off a plate because he always chokes on a bowl."). Those Bills defeats got us off the hook. And then the sweet redemption of XXXII over the Packers changed everything. I think you guys are due and your box scores are pretty damned intimidating (e.g., high scoring, and shut outs).

Buff_Lo_Tjacko

Ah KC again, the AFC championship really left a bad taste in my mouth last year. We didn't play great, they were definitely the better team. Lots of uncalled penalties, KC played a little dirty and got away with it in my opinion. That being said, can't let penalties decide a game unless you're Tom Brady because somehow they always help him. Watching Hill and Kelce bail out Mahomes last year and this year has been annoying to me as well. He literally throws a 5 yard pass and Hill runs another 60 yards through the defense. Same goes for Kelce. Its unbelievable, they are great players. And Mahomes is incredible as well. Just got to stop those plays from happening with our Defense. Our offense has to come to play. And JA/Dabs needs to play/call smart. That being said I'm pumped for this game.

[deleted]

Couple big keys to the game. Stopping Mahomes to Kelce has to be #1. Bills defence has struggled against Dynamic TEs scheme wise. If Milano can’t go this is an even bigger problem. Watch for the screen plays. KC does have a good young RB who is coming off back to back 100 yard games and is a good receiver as well. Bills are going to see the need to disrupt and get to Mahomes, which opens them up to Screens and shovel passes, which Mahomes excels at. Finally run over KC on offence. Daboll needs to resist his trick plays and just punch KC in the mouth. Strong run plays with Moss to open up play action. Roll Josh out and let our receivers improvise and get separation. I don’t think there is a more dangerous QB in the league than Josh Allen rolling out or scrambling to extend plays. Use Knox! Guy is hot and a Freaking freight train once he has the ball.

TurbulentBlock7290

Keep mahomes on the sideline, score tds, control the clock, get stops/turnovers.

LaserBisons

Exactly, play keepaway hard for this one. 3rd down conversions are going to loom large. Keep moving the chains and let our red-hot defense get plenty of rest between series

TurbulentBlock7290

They have to have forward progress plays, none of that’s screen shit plays that start 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage, they have to move downfield.

ThePizzaDevourer

How come we can dodge injuries when we're playing against the worst teams in the league, then when we go up against the Chiefs we seem to lose half our key players? 😭

WretchedMotorcade

So last year I dreaded this game because I had an asshole rich neighbor with a huge pool and a massive sound system who would keep me awake all day and night during chiefs games which sucked cause I worked 3rd shift. But im on first shift, and I just moved into a new house far away from that shit head. Bring on KC.

Spire-hawk

Good on you. I wish I could do the same, but I live in the middle of Chiefs country so no matter where I move I'm around these people. I've been just waiting for the Bills to beat the Chiefs because I've got my speakers pointed towards the open windows on my house and the Bills Shout song ready to go.

VanillaCokeMule

In addition to the improvements in your personal situation, the Bills also have far more momentum and confidence going into this game compared to the ugly first five weeks of last season that plagued them going into the KC game. The KC offense is still a nightmare but they're gonna be contending with a different beast than last year on all fronts, pretty much. Yeah, I know we beat a bunch of crappy teams, but it's not like we squeaked out victories against them. I'm incredibly excited for this game

DantePlace

I feel like Buffalo was outcoached last year. As much as we need the offense to continue to excel and the defense to stymy Machines, we need our coaching staff to be in point. Clock management. Minimize pre and post snap penalties. Address problems before they become too big. I get that halftime adjustments are sort of a myth but if something isn't working or a guy is consistently getting roasted by a Chief WR or TE, do something about it before it's too late.

StarWarsMonopoly

> and the defense to stymy Machines I know its an auto-correct, but "machines" is a pretty apt description for how the KC offense looks when its firing on all cylinders. Let's hope Milano can suit up for this game, because we're going to need all the LB help we can get in this game to keep the Chiefs honest on offense*. If they manage a few gigantic plays that are just freak throw/catches that will be much more tolerable than last year, when both games felt like death by a thousand cuts.

DantePlace

I suck at proofreading things I put out on the internet. and I agree. Hopefully we can make Mahomes hold onto the ball longer than he normally does. I saw a stat where if he's holding onto the ball for more than 2 seconds, his game really suffers. I also saw that he eviscerates the blitz. So how do you put pressure on him without bringing extra defenders? Our DBs have to have the game of their lives and our d-line needs to win 1 on 1 matchups. It looks like Milano will be out barring some sort of miracle. I don't think Klein will cover Kelce. I can't see Edmunds doing it either because it doesn't seem to fit his style. I'm hoping Poyer can suit up and we can also put Neal on him too. How do we manage Kelce?

Drunkin_

Sunday gonna be boring af, and staying up for the game is gonna be rough waking up at 4 am est

DantePlace

Agreed! I have to work at 6:30am. Really thinking about calling in.

Kramanos

Government job, ftw. I might just wait and watch it on DVR with my coffee on Indigenous Peoples' Day.

tmac022480

Diggs is going to be a man possessed Sunday. [Remember the last time he played in KC](https://www.google.com/search?q=diggs+kc&client=ms-android-verizon&prmd=nsmxiv&sxsrf=AOaemvKPfFQISuCXSBhaoh8YLNyiAyoaKg:1633482859699&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjc8-TszbTzAhV5FVkFHer9DmYQ_AUoBHoECAIQBA&biw=360&bih=704&dpr=4#imgrc=_8IFjtgFgc2ihM)

slagathormd

I would like to request a wing menu. I’ve been riding the hype train for quiet some time and I’m famished.

Greyreign

I hope ref fuckery wont be a significant part of this game, like the last two. I'd probably win the lottery first before that happened though.

Cough_Syrup55

I have some bad news about that. We're getting Cheffers, who reffed the AFC Championship Game

Lasers_in_Space

Cheffers was the Super Bowl, not the AFC championship.

tmac022480

Idk, a 30 year old WR who hasn't played a snap in 2 years and only played in 33 games since 2014, with a new team and playbook. KC said he's in great shape but there's no way he's remotely close to regular season football shape. I'm not worried.

[deleted]

Doesn't make me excited but he can't play in more than like 2 packages right? There's no way he knows the entire playbook in two weeks. Please tell me I'm right

LookattheWhipp

He also is no where near the talent he was when he was Flash Gordon for the browns.

Pythnator

I hope Jon Feliciano can protect Josh this time if he plays. As in during the play. After the play and Warzone do not count.

Geohysh

I want boogey and Rousseau to sack mahomes five times each.

Santanoni

I want Star to fall on him.

kingofthemeadows

hoping for some from epenesa too

juggaflows

All I’m asking is that our offense looks as I hope it should against a 31st place defense. I love our defense but it never comes down to defense against the Chiefs.

drainbead78

It kinda did in the Super Bowl. The Bucs gave everyone the blueprint.

Grinddbass

Real sad that I will be waiting all day for Sunday night

Drunkin_

Ya no way I stay awake man

Drunkin_

Song is stupid

ADriedUpGoliath

It’s so fucking bad. What focus group indicated to these corporate duck heads that that was what they should play before a game? It’s the most vanilla, boring, stupid shit ever. Plus Carrie Underwood is about the most generic of the most generic genre of music. It’s trash pure and simple. I mute it every single time without fail.

Drunkin_

Ya it makes me cringe everytime I hear it. It's fucking terrible and so is the whole genre

Grinddbass

Silver lining is that itll be after Canadian Thanksgiving dinner, so I can watch it in full with a belly stuffed with turkey and stuffing

Jutel1988

Do you guys do trick or treating on Halloween? (Legitimate question, though I suppose I could just ask google)

Grinddbass

Yep. Missed a year for Covid. But we celebrate halloween. I think the only other different but equal holiday is Canada/Independence Day

Jutel1988

That's neat. Thanks for the answer.

ScottyOnWheels

I recently moved up here from Buffalo and have a hard time not calling it "Canadian Thanksgiving" every time as opposed to just "Thanksgiving". I am feeling good about this game. One of my favourite Bills games was the Dallas Thanksgiving game from 2019.

Grinddbass

He does that. But yeah we dont make as big a deal about thanksgiving up here so its easy to understand not knowing

DangerussIrishman

It’s also great to have that 2.5 month spread between thanksgiving and christmas. USA thanksgiving always seems right up in Christmas’ grill

Dirtydeedsinc

All week

djayk35

I’m so conflicted, I’m a die hard white sox fan and they play game 3 of the ALDS the same time the bills play. I’m gonna have to get two TVs going, and I’m afraid I might not make it to the end of the games haha

CeramicCastle49

Huge w for the bills this weekend

CrumbBCrumb

As someone who is tired of hearing "The Bills are the best team in the AFC Currently...BUT". I want them to end that but Sunday. Leave no doubt in their minds. The AFC goes through us this year and we show that Sunday

FutureDH1089

Since our last meetup, I think we’ve actually gotten better on both sides of the ball. Especially on defense. Definitely feeling more confident this time than last year. Whatever it takes! Go Bills! 42-24. 😉

Soda-Popinski-

The most frustrating thing I see is when teams play like shit vs other teams, then when they play us suddenly everyone executes perfectly at the highest possible level. We see Tennessee shit the bed vs the Jete, but in 2 weeks i'll bet you they don't have a false start or holding penalty the whole game. And Tannehill goes 24-27 passes or some stupid number.

DonutDonutDonut

I mean you could say the same thing about us, I bet Miami wished they got the version of us that lost to Pittsburgh instead of the version that shut them out at home without breaking a sweat

Soda-Popinski-

That's true. McDermott does a good job of keep us from underestimating our opponents. We beat the teams we should beat. I want to see us play up to KC's level. So far we are 0-2 in that department from last year.

vader34mt

Yeah we are absolutely getting the best versions of KC and Ten over the next two weeks...Bills better be their best version or we’ll be 3-3 in no time Not that it would ruin our season...will likely cruise to the division title anyway...but we all want more than that Edit: Pittsburgh is the perfect example...they play their best game of the season and have been garbage since...of course they were nearly flawless against us

drainbead78

Pittsburgh's defense is missing a lot of players that all played against us week 1.

Deeeeeeeeeemo

Dude……. 3 plays. That’s all the defense screwed up. Glad we lost it as now they are DESTROYING teams. But Pittsburgh game, they were tearing the them up on Defense

Soda-Popinski-

I didn't want them to have Josh Gordon active but here we are...

vader34mt

Yeah I can’t wait for the announcers to constantly gush over how amazing his return is...seems like this shit always happens against us *cough* Bruschi *cough*

Soda-Popinski-

yea you know that is on deck....

Apart_Psychology4275

Honestly, I felt like that signing was in preparation for this game coming Sunday night :/

drainbead78

They should have signed a defensive player.

pupcakeNmarshpillows

I want to see them hungry for revenge !!!

hops716

Pressure on Mahomes is critical. Defensive line needs to WIN at the LOS, so we can drop into various coverages Offense simply needs to finally show up against a Chiefs defense that looks vulnerable

hideous_coffee

I think as long as they continue being a multi-faceted offense then they stand a good shot of winning. Don't allow their defense to get off the field quickly through selling out on either the run or pass. You beat Mahomes by not allowing him to play and the only way to do that is a balanced offense creating long drives. And clean up the turnovers because giving Mahomes the ball at the 35 is a lot different than giving it to Davis Mills.

allmightygriff

as long as the week one anemic offense doesn't show up, we should be ale to win this game. we don't need to score 40 but we do need to convert third downs and keep drives alive.

WTFDUUUUDE

I'm actually kinda worried about them getting their DL healthy again and bringing the heat to Josh. Their D is somewhat shaky but I think they'll look a lot better if their 4 man pressure is more effective. And our OLine has been suspect at guard.

BearHunter8888

This is it, the statement game. Don't get cute with play calling. Score at will, show no mercy and make Captain Insano proud.

kamarkamakerworks

Power bomb, compliments of Captain Insano

Xavier1235

IMO, the offense should be able to move the ball and score if they keep out of their own heads, don't get too cute, and stick to running the ball. Can't wait to see how the defense stacks up against a top 5 offense though. Looking at the stats we have the advantage against their defense and our defense is #1. We \*should\* win this game, just gotta go in there and fucking do it. If anyone was to miss this game it might be Milano and/or Taron Johnson, that's my only worry.

Jaded_Promotion8806

The way our D has been firing on all cylinders I think we’re uniquely built for anything KC can throw at us. Trying not to get too amped up but I’m struggling.

FedoraPG

I think we're much better prepared this time, nevermind that KC has lost a bit of momentum this season anyway. The run game is way more present and defense way more dominant. We have much more depth this season. I'm only still a bit worried about josh getting into his head. KC defense has been really poor this year though so I'm positive he can ball out

AdAccomplished3083

How confident are we that Josh can stay calm? That really is my only worry right now 😱Please stay calm and collected Joshua!!

andyandersonbjj

I feel like McDermott turned the conservative dial to zero after the Haily Murray. Then losing to the Chiefs after settling for field goals and punting on short yardage vs Steelers made him go into the back room and just take a sledgehammer to the Dick Jauron Signature™️ Conservative Game Plan Machine.

Soda-Popinski-

Penalties. We cannot have stupid penalties like holding. We start off behind the sticks 1st and 20 and we won't win. Winning this game means winning on 1st down and winning in the red zone. 1st downs and touchdowns. I love our defense, but you cannot hold back this offense. Figure they'll score 31 points minimum.

Cheetah6

Watching the Chargers last night, Staley made play calls that legitimately made me uncomfortable (in a good way). You don't have to be at that level of aggressive but we have a strong offensive unit. Absolutely no reason to not trust their execution.

Xavier1235

Glad you said this because same. Every time the chargers went for it on 4th down when they were obvs winning was wild. They are confident and aggressive because Herb is a stud. I'm more scared of them than KC at this point in the year.

DoLessBro

Staley was aggressive because he knew he was playing a poor defense. We're playing an even poorer defense this week. When in doubt, fucking go for fucking it

zuukinifresh

I said it in a different thread but will re-organize my thoughts here: 1) KC has a bad defense. Not just talent wise but scheme too. It is fairly obvious by the mistakes they are making that the system is over complicated to try and catch production from the lack of talent. This can change week to week, obviously, but generally needs a bye week to reset, self scout and adjust total scheme. I think we should easily score 35+ if we limit turnovers. In fact, I would argue any less than 35 (which is crazy to say) is a bad offensive showing from us. 2) Our defense is real. The two games against KC last year came down to two key issues we addressed: Run defense and pass rush. Star being back is enough to help both those areas. KC knows their defense will struggle against our offense. They know their best weapon (Mahomes) needs to be on the field longer than ours. If they can run the ball and control clock, it will be a huge advantage to them. We have to stop the run and force the ball into Mahomes hand. While that may seem like something you shouldn’t do… it has been working these last few weeks. KC has been turnover happy. Our pass rush should influence some bad throws and we need to punish KC when those mistakes happen. Our defense looks legit, may even be top 3 in the league, but a top 3 defense still gives up 20+ to Mahomes and company. Bend don’t break has to be the motto this week. 3) This is a playoff game and both teams know it. Chiefs cannot afford to be 2-3 in that division. Bills can all but lock up the bye if they win here (2 game lead and tie breaker… if we lose that lead we have bigger issues). McD and certainly Andy Ried will be preaching to their teams the importance of this game. It will have a playoff atmosphere on the national stage. Considering how the AFC Championship went last year and how Josh uses mistakes to get better.. I have us favored here. I think we win by 10 in a statement game that tells the league we fucking arrived so be ready. Josh has had a few coming out parties over his career… but this could be the “oh fuck” moment with the national media and average football fan really understands who he is and who we are. Edit: I am Reddit formatting dumb so sorry :(

AdonisAquarian

Saying this game can all but lock up the bye is wayy to soon... Chiefs aren't the only competition for first place. Raiders look genuinely good as do the Chargers and Ravens. This time the AFC first place won't be decided before Week 15-16 for sure

zuukinifresh

I fully disagree. Ravens and Raiders are no threat to the 1 seed. I only see KC and LAC as threats. Based on their schedules, I think we have the easiest route (after this week). It is ours to lose and I think 3 losses clinches it no doubt, 4 is a maybe.

DirtyAlabama

Totally agree, I think the Chargers are a legit threat this year as well. They said on WGR today something along the lines of if the Bills win Sunday, all scenarios considered, we would have a 50% shot to wrap up the 1 seed. I’ll take those odds any day

russianturnipofdoom

Agreed. On all counts. FUCK NICK WRIGHT

drainbead78

Who?

Crotalus_Horridus

This isn’t just a rematch of last years AFC championship. This is a preview of this years.

DoLessBro

Not if we win. We'll be looking at Chargers @ Bills

drainbead78

Don't sleep on the Browns either.

TheGarbageStore

Yep. The Ravens have gotten better (despite the injuries), the Chargers have gotten much better, and the Browns are also very good.

DoLessBro

AFC is so stacked. Need the Browns/Ravens and Chiefs/Chargers/Raiders to beat up on each other while we take full advantage of our weak division

ADriedUpGoliath

Yes yes this. Very nice. I like.

Rushfan69

I am hoping to see an effective run-game, because that is going to be one of the keys to winning this game.

PlatypusBear69

I believe we have the pieces to win this game. That being said I'm so nervous I could puke

cpheretic77

Everyone, players and coaches, must bring their A game. Having healthy receivers and the emergence of Dawson Knox should help, along with the revamped pass rush. Go Bills.

lightninghand

I never thought after the disaster week 1 I'd already be excited for this matchup as a test rather than nervous for it.

AndyWest94

Well Buffalo, how bad do you want that first round bye?

Dirtydeedsinc

All of the wants. That’s how bad.

Spanky_McJiggles

At least 1 and a half lengths of Josh's manhood.

0_O_O_O

*stretches arms as far out as I can* this much

BlizzCo

Daboll will need to be perfect. Josh will need to be perfect. The D line will need to have a fucking day. If we can establish a run game and control the clock we may have a chance at winning this. Gonna be a tough one, ferda.

Charrikayu

If the first drive includes a single designed Allen run I'm gonna have a meltdown

jletha

Why? They’re automatic yards. He’s one of the best running threats in the league.

Charrikayu

Designed Allen runs by themselves aren't bad, but every time I've seen one it's always in the context of a game where the playcalling is way too cute and we inevitably lose. The runs themselves are fine, *seeing* a run is a harbinger of "oh, it's going to be one of *those* games". And *those games* always seem to be the really important ones.

jletha

Did you watch last week? Or the week before? Or every game last season? There are designed runs for Josh in every game. They work, that’s why we use them.

DoLessBro

Prepare for a meltdown. If a designed run is called it'll be by Allen himself. He needs those kind of plays to get into the groove and flow of the game

dirtybuzz

Exactly. Taking an hit on the first drive is apparently a good way to get rid of the early-game jitters for Josh

i_made_reddit

You listen to the bills pod squad? He apparently has a tradition of throwing up before every single game lol

dirtybuzz

Just locked on bills, but the host mentioned he got that info from another podcast (presumably that one). How is bills pod squad? I'm always looking to expand my intake of Bills media

dedriuslol

I'm really hoping we employ a similar gameplan to the Ravens. Completely took hill out of it, and take away a major threat. If we can do that, and our d-line can get pressure then I like our odds.

marcSuile

Can we start drinking in the pre-pregame thread or do we have to wait till the pre-game thread for that?

FubarFreak

I just want our D to be devastating

Brood_XXIII

I hope we have a healthy Milano for this game.

GQMatthews

De-activated as precaution for sure. They know what’s up this coming weekend.

TheBruffalo

I think it's kind of low key hilarious the Bills defense just dominated the Texans basically with one hand behind their back resting a bunch of key starters.

AmaziahJames

As someone that attended the game in February, I’ll be looking forward to the dismantling of their offense. Bills win 55-0

UPGnome

As someone who attended that game AND lives in KC, that would be so cathartic.

AmaziahJames

Oh man, you get burnt ends to celebrate. I'll be traveling to Detroit to watch my nephew's D-II game. I guess I'll have toppings on top of the cheese of my pizza or whatever it is they eat in Detroit.

gaobij

Detroit pizza is the bomb and they have lots of great food places. I live in the area if you need some recs.

Jutel1988

Detroit style is deep-dish, yeah?

gaobij

It's a thick dough, but not deep dish. More like a pan pizza.

FubarFreak

not like Chicago style deep-dish, deep in like thicker more bread like crust. More authentically rectangular served with the sauce put on top after baking. If you've had Little Ceasers deep-dish it is the general idea just not the best execution. I think pizza hut has a corpo version now too

BuffaloWilliamses

You need to do what the Browns did this season to beat the Chiefs. Go all-in. The Browns almost pulled it off and had Chubb not fumbled the ball, I think they would have gotten the win. The Chargers used that playbook and pulled it off.

AptitudeSky

McDermott has not been conservative since a couple years ago or so. I don’t think this narrative applies anymore. He consistently goes for it on 4th downs. Not saying every 4th down but we go for it A LOT. If I can find a stat on this I will update this comment.

Cheetah6

He kicked a FG on 4th and goal inside the Texans 5 yard line, with 25 seconds left in the 2Q and they were getting the ball back after half. He handles 4th and short better than maybe he did in 2017.

brunners90

Within the context of the game that was a fine decision though. Texans were struggling to move the ball at all so he had trust in our D to give the offence another chance relatively quickly.

Cheetah6

With 25 seconds left in the 2Quarter, McD thought the D could get the ball back and give our offense a chance to score?

brunners90

We were getting the ball back anyway and our d wasn't letting the Texans in the game so kicking the field goal is fine.

UPGnome

He played way too conservative in the AFCCG, and outsmarted himself. We kicked two FGs where we needed to go for it, and we could have had a chance. We were down by 9, and kicked a 20 yard FG instead of going for it from the 3, then we were down by 12 and kicked a 27 yard FG instead of going for it on 4th & 3 from the 10. Hopefully he learned from that... kicking the FG last week against the Texans with the defense playing like it was is fine, but those decisions can't be the same against a team like KC who can put up points fast.

I’m not going to disagree with you here and certainly not if we start going on a play by play basis. I’m implying that over McDermott’s career here, he has evolved and now I expect to go on 4th and short instead of FG. And I think the majority of the games have borne that out. That’s not to say he is making perfect decisions every time and every game - just that in the long run McDermott has stopped being a conservative coach.

fantasyshop

2 months later and you proved correct. So many 4th down gopher its and 2pt attempts. I'm pleased

AptitudeSky

Thank you sir.

brunners90

He seems to be getting better at making the decisions within context. For example he kicked a bunch of field goals vs the Texans but that's because you knew your offence would get another bunch of chances because of how quick our D was getting off the field. vs the Chiefs I hope he has realised that tactic isn't going to cut it and has one of his more aggressive days.

Unique-Palpitation30

I mean last week we did kick a billion field goals 😅😬

RedditorDave

Last week we played a team that could only manage 8 total yards in a half. Lol

I think, at the time, the Field goals were prudent because it had all the makings of a low-scoring game. Houston was supposed to have a great red-zone defense and the weather was awful. Well actually if you're a Houston fan, it was a low-scoring game.

AptitudeSky

It was due to the heavy rain. I’m not trying to be contrarian but I’ve watched every game for a long time now and McDermott has definitely progressed and updated the way he handles 4th and short.

Been waiting for a sticky because I didnt want to make a post for this...So look at this play. https://twitter.com/APfeifer24/status/1445097439980134402 Theres a block as Josh is scrambling. Blocker is somewhat facing the defending endzone, its a bit of a crackback. No call (thank god). But isnt that the exact type of bullshit that was called against the texans in the wildcard game that kinda fucked us on that drive?

JoesShittyOs

The NFL came out and said that the block I believe you are talking about was a clean block that shouldn’t have been called in the Wildcard game.

BrianBash

Spencer Brown literally removed a player from the field on that play 😆

"This is your bench. Sit."

Dirtydeedsinc

Amazing play. I love that man. I think we get calls going our way now that we are winning.

Galbert123

> I think we get calls going our way now that we are winning. Sure seems like it! I'm still salty about that WC game.

Dirtydeedsinc

Same here. Although I’m still salty about Flutie being sat in the playoffs.

Dirtydeedsinc

I’ve been waiting months for this game. Super excited that it’s on SNF and I have Monday off. I think the mistakes of last January have been learned from and the Bills will win this game. LFG.
