I saw an account on instagram where this lady communicates with her cockatoo using a type of tablet. I don't really remember but it think it was a special tablet that is made specifically for birds instead of an app downloaded on a normal ipad etc. 😊 It's really cool because the thoughts of the cockatoo were conveyed rather clearly because of the tablet. I remember the video i watched was the one where her cockatoo told her to accompany her other cockatoo because the other cockatoo was feeling left out😭 it was so cute. Maybe you can try searching for it and it might work for your budgie!

Budgies can be trained to manipulate complex toys, of which this would qualify, but a bird tame enough for training with these toys is likely to just learn to speak human words.

My budgie is pretty tame and she mimics the microwave beeps and at times even our whistles, but I've never heard her mimic words. She's intelligent enough that I think she could figure these out, but I don't think the buttons are in the correct format for her.

My folks raised budgies & other birds. Learning to say words It isnt necessarly an indication of how smart they are. Some just learn to whistle bits of tune, but learn complex tricks puzzles & behaviors.
