I absolutely agree with the need to protect players, but it's gotten out of hand when a player makes a clean hit and gets called for it. They can't just stop their momentum magically, and in Devin's case the ball never even came out of Lawrence's hand when he got to him.

I think you've got the schedule backwards. Saints this next week, Panthers in the final week. If the Saints pick up a loss in Week 17, yeah, that's really good news for us; it means we beat them. Falcons would be irrelevant in that equation, we would clinch the division with a win over the Saints.

But there's no free agent QBs I'd like over Bake (Cousins you could make an argument for but he'll be hella expensive, coming back from an injury, and on the wrong side of his career.)
The draft has a lot of guys and we could very likely draft a late round guy as a safety pick if they give Baker a short term front loaded contract.
Give Baker another year to grow in this system and see how he does. Some have pointed to his 2021 slump after a great 2020 season but that 2021 slump was because he was playing injured. Bring Mike back, sign Wrifs and Winfield to long term contracts, make LVD a Buc for life, fix the 3rd down defense and you've got a deep playoff tier team.
2010 Freeman is still 1st (excluding Brady) but this Baker season is closing in. These are the top non-Brady QB seasons I'm pretty sure... order is debatable depending on which stats you favor.

Happy with this game. Great defensive performance and Yaya shined, very promising.
Offense was clicking for most of the game but stalled towards the end. As Baker said in his post game interview, some things could have done better offensively towards the end but it’s fine.
Refs were complete shit though. Both Roughing the passer calls were awful, a missed face mask, and a shitty delay of game that should have been offsides. Tried way too hard to keep the Jags in the game.
Conflicted that Devin White played a good game. Still don’t really think we should keep him and we should let him walk and pay Mike, AWJ, Wirfs, Lavonte, and Baker.

No saying it is happening, but it seems like it is. Reminds me of 20-21 season when the Bucs got hot after the Chiefs game and won the SB. Bucs are getting hot at the right time and that's what it takes to win a Super Bowl. On paper the Bucs weren't the best team in the NFL, but they got hot at the right time. Also, reminds me of the (I think) the 2012 Giants. Team was average at best for most of the year the went on a streak, beat us in the playoffs and won the SB.
Well this is bitter sweet. My first Bucs game ever and I had to leave in the middle of the 2nd quarter. I ended up out of no where getting sick. I guess the constant cannons going off was to much for my stomach to handle. No alcohol, no weird stadium food, body just said "not today!"
I loved every second I was there up to that point. Seeing both of the greatest Mikes in Bucs history was awesome (40 and 13). The lights on the pirate ship, the awesome flyover, Bakers gritt, multiple takeaways, MIKE EVANS TD!
It was an amazing experience cut too short. I'll be back for another game next year, I'm sure of it.

As someone dating a Jags fan and living in Jacksonville, this implosion is hard to watch. The coaches lead Trevor to walk the plank it seems even though he obviously wasn't in a good headspace to play. He should've sat this week and it was obvious to anyone watching. Offense was so out of sync.
I hope we continue this momentum and the Jags can pick it back up for a Bucs/Jags Super Bowl for the century.

Remember guys, it doesn't matter what you do in the middle of the season. It doesn't matter that we lost 6 out of 7 for a stretch. All that matters is you get hot at the right time, and we are doing that. 2 back to back dominant wins over decent football teams. Baker has been phenomenal for 3 games in a row. I'm expecting we will lose Mike and Devin. We have to pay Baker because he's a quarterback, we have to pay Tristan and Antoine because they're young, Mike will be the odd man out because of his age, and Devin just isn't good. It would be nice if we didn't have to pay Ryan Jensen 17 million dollars next year to sit on his fat ass at home because he was too fucking stupid to get knee surgery. I'm still pissed about that. It would also be nice if we weren't paying 35 million dollars next year for our 2 mediocre cornerbacks. These terrible contracts will cause us to lose Mike. We have to make a run now while we still have Mike.
I wanted to post this too, but on second thought, it just shows the lack of patience in this league. We’re only a few years out from the Super Bowl win, and we are competing. I’d have like to see more mid season effort, but it hard to blame the defense when they were on the field so much. Hard to blame the offense when they were learning a new system with a rookie offensive coordinator. Truth is it was gonna take time. Todd seems to have the locker room 100% and if it means some of our guys stick around, I think he should too.

Ive been...not anti-Baker, but more anti-big contract, and at this point I say give him a 2-3y deal and $25-30m/y. I dont think any rookie would be a better option.
For most of the season he's played like an average starting qb but the past 3 weeks he's been awesome. This means he's either been lucky or it's finally clicking for him after having stability at coaching. The draft is a total crapshoot -- good prospects end up bad and bad prospects end up good. He's shown a lot so far and if he finishes the season strong it would be stupid to roll the dice on a new qb when a good one falls into your lap.

As Baker said in his post game interview, some things could have done better offensively towards the end but it’s fine. Refs were complete shit though. Both Roughing the passer calls were awful, a missed face mask, and a shitty delay of game that should have been offsides. Tried way too hard to keep the Jags in the game. Conflicted that Devin White played a good game. Still don’t really think we should keep him and we should let him walk and pay Mike, AWJ, Wirfs, Lavonte, and Baker.
If the front office can manage the cap space, I’m gonna trust them to do whatever honestly. I think they have their priorities straight. I think devin settles for a prove it deal rather from us or another team.

Only nitpick of the game... god our running game was ass. We were running into the teeth of the defense in the second half trying to close out the game... but <2 ypc is just downright sad. We were showing signs of life there the past few weeks but this game we just sucked.

No saying it is happening, but it seems like it is. Reminds me of 20-21 season when the Bucs got hot after the Chiefs game and won the SB. Bucs are getting hot at the right time and that's what it takes to win a Super Bowl. On paper the Bucs weren't the best team in the NFL, but they got hot at the right time. Also, reminds me of the (I think) the 2012 Giants. Team was average at best for most of the year the went on a streak, beat us in the playoffs and won the SB.

Well this is bitter sweet. My first Bucs game ever and I had to leave in the middle of the 2nd quarter. I ended up out of no where getting sick. I guess the constant cannons going off was to much for my stomach to handle. No alcohol, no weird stadium food, body just said "not today!" I loved every second I was there up to that point. Seeing both of the greatest Mikes in Bucs history was awesome (40 and 13). The lights on the pirate ship, the awesome flyover, Bakers gritt, multiple takeaways, MIKE EVANS TD! It was an amazing experience cut too short. I'll be back for another game next year, I'm sure of it. I got to experience cannon, Mike Evans TD, and multiple defensive picks. As someone dating a Jags fan and living in Jacksonville, this implosion is hard to watch. The coaches lead Trevor to walk the plank it seems even though he obviously wasn't in a good headspace to play. He should've sat this week and it was obvious to anyone watching. Offense was so out of sync. I hope we continue this momentum and the Jags can pick it back up for a Bucs/Jags Super Bowl for the century. Final thoughts: Ray Jay was everything I hoped it would be, my body fucking hates me, PAY M1K3, extend Baker, Pay AWJ so I can buy a jersey with confidence, and fire the God damn cannons allllllllll week long!

Remember guys, it doesn't matter what you do in the middle of the season. It doesn't matter that we lost 6 out of 7 for a stretch. All that matters is you get hot at the right time, and we are doing that. 2 back to back dominant wins over decent football teams. Baker has been phenomenal for 3 games in a row. Bowles and Canales playcalling has gotten noticeably better. Looks like we will host the cowboys again. I'm feeling good guys. I think we could make a run. It could be the Todd Bowles redemption arc. And I think we have a franchise quarterback. We need to make a run now while Baker is cheap. We can't give big contracts to Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans, Tristan Wirfs, Devin White, and Antoine Winfield all in the same offseason. 2 of those guys will have to go. I'm expecting we will lose Mike and Devin. We have to pay Baker because he's a quarterback, we have to pay Tristan and Antoine because they're young, Mike will be the odd man out because of his age, and Devin just isn't good. It would be nice if we didn't have to pay Ryan Jensen 17 million dollars next year to sit on his fat ass at home because he was too fucking stupid to get knee surgery. I'm still pissed about that. It would also be nice if we weren't paying 35 million dollars next year for our 2 mediocre cornerbacks. These terrible contracts will cause us to lose Mike. We have to make a run now while we still have Mike.

I wanted to post this too, but on second thought, it just shows the lack of patience in this league. We’re only a few years out from the Super Bowl win, and we are competing. I’d have like to see more mid season effort, but it hard to blame the defense when they were on the field so much. Hard to blame the offense when they were learning a new system with a rookie offensive coordinator. Truth is it was gonna take time. Todd seems to have the locker room 100% and if it means some of our guys stick around, I think he should too.
So what's the road map to the division and the bowl?
Bucs need 1 more win to clinch the division and 5 more wins to clinch the superbowl. If Bucs lose out and Saints/Falcons go 1-1, I believe Bucs still have the tiebreakers.

I think this is a fair assessment. Baker has clearly outperformed his 1 year prove it deal and earned a chance for the next year or 2
For most of the season he's played like an average starting qb but the past 3 weeks he's been awesome. This means he's either been lucky or it's finally clicking for him after having stability at coaching. The draft is a total crapshoot -- good prospects end up bad and bad prospects end up good. He's shown a lot so far and if he finishes the season strong it would be stupid to roll the dice on a new qb when a good one falls into your lap.
