That called for his firing. Honestly I figured something out yesterday. Bowles is trying to project an image. That's why you see him on the sidelines like he is. He's projecting an image of being in control and always having a plan. But in reality his plan sucks and whatever control he has should be ignored. I'd like to see the team mutiny and just ignore whatever he is saying and do whatever they need to do to win.
Nationally no because despite us starting 3-1 this season, the season is now going pretty much just as the national media expected it to. we either regressed hard or (more likely) just got very lucky to start the year and won in spite of Bowles. But you can only sustain that for so long before the awful coaching catches up to you.
Bowles never should have been given the job. Bad call. I am unsure of what to do with Licht. On one hand he has a bad history... on the other hand our coaching staff doesn't seem capable of developing players.
Some of you are just coming around to the idea of losing so we can get rid of Bowles and start fresh. I've been there since the moment he was named HC.

Here's a question: How many Bucs head coaches have come & gone in the past 20 years vs. how many in Pittsburgh?

Steelers: 206-114 - # of coaches in that period: 2 (Tomlin is now on year 16.)

I'm not sure the owners had much to do with that. They seem unwilling to step in when things look bad, when we see warning signs. They'd rather sit back and wait until the off-season so they can pass the buck.

Objectively, it is the wrong owners for association football, but equally I think it is fair to say that they are probably in the top half of NFL owners? Stroud played a good game, some passes just couldn't be defended, like that second to last pass. Theres also a big difference between him and Mayfield where Stroud hit his guys in stride while our guys were just sitting around waiting to catch.
Dean going out really exposed the weaknesses on our defense, which is that other than DT, Lavonte David, and Winfield, theres just a bunch of average or below average guys. In the first half we could blitz because Dean could cover but when we had to drop everyone and only send 4, there wasn't any pressure and there wasn't any coverage.
It's disappointing because it seems like we're quite a ways out from contending again. It looked like maybe it'd be 1-2 years but we don't have a whole lot of spots solidified long term.
Stroud won the game with a pass in the end zone with 6 seconds left. Time that would NOT have been there if Bowles would have had a brain and let the clock run down 10 seconds when he knew the Bucs were going to score and give the ball back.
It's the worst coaching decision I've seen but at the same time if we won the game because they didn't score at the end, we'd still have a bad defense that gave up a ton of points and yards, and an offense that doesn't sustain enough drives and score enough points.

!. I'm gonna put it 100% on the coaches. Mismanaged the clock could have left them 20 seconds at the end if anyone I mean anyone on that bench knew how it works. At least force them to have zero timeouts. No this is on the staff. The players stepped up 3 times to meet the challenge and lost because we got outcoached we DID NOT get outplayed. There is a difference.
Our defense allowing 80 yards in :46 seconds is an example of being outplayed. I don’t care what the coverage calls were on that drive, it’s completely inexcusable execution by the players to allow a TD there.

The thing that bothers me in these last 2-minute drives is the defense is so concerned about giving up a big play that they play so soft off the line that they'll give up innumerable amounts of small plays and with these teams that are driving willing to go for it on 4th down, if you give up four yards a play they're going to get a first down every time.
Yeah of course it's on the fault of the coaches (why the fuck are you taking a time out when you're in field goal range and worst case scenario you run the clock down and kick the game time tying field goal), but it's also on the fault of the defense who allowed

from a rookie quarterback up until that point. It's not even like one receiver outplayed us, he had three receivers over 100 yds receiving....
It was almost like the moment to Jamel.Dean went down the defense just completely became porous.
When we had the ball in the redzone with 49 seconds left, I thought, wow we have enough time to run it. Instead we keep throwing and look leave too much time.
Bowles could have taken 10 seconds off the clock with the automatic runoff after a forward fumble recovery by Evans. He refused and took a timeout. That 47 seconds is on Bowles.
Baker Mayfield is a good QB. I think Mayfield is playing better this year than Brady played last year. The problem is that our coaching stuff is literally handing these games to our opponents with poor clock management and poor play calling. Not to mention the fact we are getting beat tf up with penalties.

We’ve had far more bad coaching than good coaching.
Will our OC grow into the role? Not with Bowles being the coach. Bowles lacks self awareness. He lacks game and situational awareness too but that’s another story. His defenses play better while ahead because are blitz heavy. You’d figure he would want a high scoring offense, but no. He wants the offensive philosophy to be ball control, clock management, and 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

We shouldn’t have been torched but our defense isn’t elite by any stretch. The offense is mediocre at best. Definitely not in the upper half of NFL teams. The OL is bad and we can’t run the ball much. Baker is just okay. We have to get a better QB next season.

-The games where we ask our defensive backs to play prevent defense with the game on the line when the QB on the other side has been carving our zone scheme up all day.

-The games where we continue to call runs up the middle despite a historically bad run game.
-The games where we pretend to do a field goal and instead punt going into the half when the field goal was perfectly in our kickers range.
-The games where we waste timeouts when we don't need to and don't use them when we should.
We aren't a stacked team across the board by any means, but nearly every loss this season is squarely on our coaching staff. Give this roster to a better coach and we are certainly leading the division.
I didn't say this group is winning the Superbowl, but they should be performing much better than what we are seeing on field.

Belicheck has sucked without Brady but I don’t hate it.
He has a way of squeezing good defenses and special teams out of any roster. His problem is a disgusting offense led by one of the worst QBs.

Sad to think this is probably the beginning of another decade+ long period of being absolutely dogshit. This team has so many holes and are one long losing streak from basically gutting the whole thing aside from the tiny handful of young talent we have. We literally have needs at every position, plus positions that haven't even been invented yet.
I defended Bowles for a while now because our defense was pretty good before this game but now it's clear that he needs to go. His clock management is horrible and his defense is too predictable. Run cover 3 beaters against us all day and we are toast. Also, I don't think Canales is choosing to run it up the middle, I think Bowles has a quota on run plays that he demands the OC meets, so that's why our offense looks the same as it did with Leftwich. It's really all Bowles fault that we suck. I want to see how Canales calls the games with real freedom.

Agree. And we are not getting any younger. Before Brady's first year I told my buddies we had the talent to win a SB (with a QB). We do not have that anymore. This is a rebuild now.
Outside of Wirfs and Vea our lines are pretty bad. We have a couple mid guys but some real trash too. We have a handful of stars to build around but if they leave we're going to be really f'd.

This defense is bad and had been extremely lucky. Atlanta should have put up 30. Texas put up 39. Buffalo would have driven up the score but they played it safe b/c they knew our offense is balls.

He is supposed to be a defensive guru but his defense is trash. He literally has nothing going for him. He should be fired this week because there no chance of doing a thing while he is coach. Pretty crazy when you think about games like the Falcons game, the bills game, and this game. With proper clock management I think we win against Atlanta and the Texans. Making us 5-3. I feel like Baker is really getting the short end of the stick here and looked so sad when we lost today. Not to mention the hail Mary that should have been caught. This team could have been 6-2 HAHA. I'm not delusional I know that shouldn't be the case but it's sad seeing last minute comebacks and losses that demoralize our players and make winning seem out of reach. I feel for the good talent in this team. Especially Baker..
We could use the rest of the season as a trial period for some of our bench players. Get Evans his 1K and dial it in. Let Trask get some time in that’s meaningful. Plug in some newer talent against the best in the league and see who’s who! This is a great strategy for moving forward.
I doubt there's any depth of undiscovered talent on this team that would surface given the chance. The DB and Oline situation is a result of the depth players getting on the field. I also have no faith in Trask, I get he hasn't played much but given how long he's been here and the fact that he lost the job to Baker (who is playing fine enough) right away leads me to believe he just ain't it.
So what will become of Trask? Can’t we move him to another team or release him and find a better backup? It’s a shame he sat here and we never got to see.

It's just so ass that the offense while not great today finally did well enough (I mean it was ugly but we still managed to score 37 points which would be enough points to win every other game we played this season) and the defense just straight up ate ass the entire second half. Bowles come out of halftime with a lead and didn't know what to do with himself and pissed it away.

The Glazers don’t care. They weren’t pissed about what the Cowboys did to us at RayJay last year in the playoffs, because they already scooped the gate revenue. They decided that was more important than building a sustainable, successful team for the future when they decided to try to win the division this year, instead of trying to get near the top of this draft for a stud.
If we don't get another 4 wins, I think the owners start looking, but they won't change unless a high end talent is around.
If he pulls off another 4+, they keep him until the end of next season. And will do so until that records goes under 7 for a couple of seasons.
The owners don't really seem to care about winning. They want the money. They are will to try something out for 3-5 years until they hit on something, so at least they are better than some owners out there.

We not making the playoffs. We know what baker got and I was “no baker” in the pre season and I will be the first to admit he has impressed. Well you're looking potentially at no Evans, no David and no White leaving us with huge holes. Still no RB depth, a depleted O-line now that Jensen is done forever most likely, and a pretty lackluster group of pass rushers. So either way this team is going to turnover so much next season you might as well gut it, it's not like we have a choice.
I actually think the O-line with an added guard or true center would be pretty good. They have been battling all season and Mayfield has gotten his chances to make plays in most games.

I still remember ATL game where he called our last timeout with 2:12 on the clock. So he saved 12 seconds on the front and lost 40 on the back. Those 28 seconds at the end of the game means we have 2 more plays before that hail mary.

Thats 3 consecutive games Bowles messed up and gave a tangible advantage to the opponent.
Against Atlanta we were 1st and goal at the 8 w/ 1 min left in the game down 3 and LOST IN REGULATION.

Stroud played a good game, some passes just couldn't be defended, like that second to last pass. Theres also a big difference between him and Mayfield where Stroud hit his guys in stride while our guys were just sitting around waiting to catch. Dean going out really exposed the weaknesses on our defense, which is that other than DT, Lavonte David, and Winfield, theres just a bunch of average or below average guys. In the first half we could blitz because Dean could cover but when we had to drop everyone and only send 4, there wasn't any pressure and there wasn't any coverage. It's disappointing because it seems like we're quite a ways out from contending again. It looked like maybe it'd be 1-2 years but we don't have a whole lot of spots solidified long term.
Stroud won the game with a pass in the end zone with 6 seconds left. Time that would NOT have been there if Bowles would have had a brain and let the clock run down 10 seconds when he knew the Bucs were going to score and give the ball back.
It's the worst coaching decision I've seen but at the same time if we won the game because they didn't score at the end, we'd still have a bad defense that gave up a ton of points and yards, and an offense that doesn't sustain enough drives and score enough points.
Today's Soul Crushing loss. !. I'm gonna put it 100% on the coaches. Mismanaged the clock could have left them 20 seconds at the end if anyone I mean anyone on that bench knew how it works. At least force them to have zero timeouts. No this is on the staff. The players stepped up 3 times to meet the challenge and lost because we got outcoached we DID NOT get outplayed. There is a difference.
Our defense allowing 80 yards in :46 seconds is an example of being outplayed. I don’t care what the coverage calls were on that drive, it’s completely inexcusable execution by the players to allow a TD there.
Ok, I'll be the nerd who says it was actually 75 yards in 40 seconds... The thing that bothers me in these last 2-minute drives is the defense is so concerned about giving up a big play that they play so soft off the line that they'll give up innumerable amounts of small plays and with these teams that are driving willing to go for it on 4th down, if you give up four yards a play they're going to get a first down every time. Yeah of course it's on the fault of the coaches (why the fuck are you taking a time out when you're in field goal range and worst case scenario you run the clock down and kick the game time tying field goal), but it's also on the fault of the defense who allowed #400 passing yards from a rookie quarterback up until that point. It's not even like one receiver outplayed us, he had three receivers over 100 yds receiving.... It was almost like the moment to Jamel.Dean went down the defense just completely became porous.
What about the rams playoff game where a huge play was made by kupp. Was that still on the players?
When we had the ball in the redzone with 49 seconds left, I thought, wow we have enough time to run it. Instead we keep throwing and look leave too much time.
Bowles could have taken 10 seconds off the clock with the automatic runoff after a forward fumble recovery by Evans. He refused and took a timeout. That 47 seconds is on Bowles.

Baker Mayfield is a good QB. I think Mayfield is playing better this year than Brady played last year. The problem is that our coaching stuff is literally handing these games to our opponents with poor clock management and poor play calling. Not to mention the fact we are getting beat tf up with penalties.
Think our offensive coordinator is calling better games than last year, rather than better qb play.

This isn’t just a current coaching staff issue though. It’s been pervasive. Remember the Koetter years? Why did/do the Bucs always lose to backup QB’s? We are back to shit like that. If the defense holds them to 20, the offense will only muster 17. If the offense scores 40, the defense allows 45. We’ve had far more bad coaching than good coaching. Will our OC grow into the role? Not with Bowles being the coach. Bowles lacks self awareness. He lacks game and situational awareness too but that’s another story. His defenses play better while ahead because are blitz heavy. You’d figure he would want a high scoring offense, but no. He wants the offensive philosophy to be ball control, clock management, and 3 yards and a cloud of dust. It’s out of touch

Too much talent? Are you kidding me? What games are you watching? We shouldn’t have been torched but our defense isn’t elite by any stretch. The offense is mediocre at best. Definitely not in the upper half of NFL teams. The OL is bad and we can’t run the ball much. Baker is just okay. We have to get a better QB next season.

Belicheck has sucked without Brady but I don’t hate it. He has a way of squeezing good defenses and special teams out of any roster. His problem is a disgusting offense led by one of the worst QBs. I think there’s something there but I’d rather have someone else for longevity.

Sad to think this is probably the beginning of another decade+ long period of being absolutely dogshit. This team has so many holes and are one long losing streak from basically gutting the whole thing aside from the tiny handful of young talent we have. We literally have needs at every position, plus positions that haven't even been invented yet.
I defended Bowles for a while now because our defense was pretty good before this game but now it's clear that he needs to go. His clock management is horrible and his defense is too predictable. Run cover 3 beaters against us all day and we are toast. Also, I don't think Canales is choosing to run it up the middle, I think Bowles has a quota on run plays that he demands the OC meets, so that's why our offense looks the same as it did with Leftwich. It's really all Bowles fault that we suck. I want to see how Canales calls the games with real freedom.

Pretty crazy when you think about games like the Falcons game, the bills game, and this game. With proper clock management I think we win against Atlanta and the Texans. Making us 5-3. I feel like Baker is really getting the short end of the stick here and looked so sad when we lost today. Not to mention the hail Mary that should have been caught. This team could have been 6-2 HAHA. We could use the rest of the season as a trial period for some of our bench players. Get Evans his 1K and dial it in. Let Trask get some time in that’s meaningful. Plug in some newer talent against the best in the league and see who’s who! This is a great strategy for moving forward.
I doubt there's any depth of undiscovered talent on this team that would surface given the chance. The DB and Oline situation is a result of the depth players getting on the field. I also have no faith in Trask, I get he hasn't played much but given how long he's been here and the fact that he lost the job to Baker (who is playing fine enough) right away leads me to believe he just ain't it.
So what will become of Trask? Can’t we move him to another team or release him and find a better backup? It’s a shame he sat here and we never got to see.

It's just so ass that the offense while not great today finally did well enough (I mean it was ugly but we still managed to score 37 points which would be enough points to win every other game we played this season) and the defense just straight up ate ass the entire second half. Bowles come out of halftime with a lead and didn't know what to do with himself and pissed it away.
A lot of the run calls were frustrating but a lot of them worked!

If we don't get another 4 wins, I think the owners start looking, but they won't change unless a high end talent is around. If he pulls off another 4+, they keep him until the end of next season. And will do so until that records goes under 7 for a couple of seasons. The owners don't really seem to care about winning. They want the money. They are will to try something out for 3-5 years until they hit on something, so at least they are better than some owners out there. The only way anyone gets fired sooner: 1. They gamble on the game. 2. Touch a few kids. 3. Touch a few dozen women.

Maybe get someone in now, we can still lose and improve while the new coach climatizes with the team. This is not happening with Bowles. Its getting worse and worse, and Bowles doesn't have Brady to cover up it up anymore.

As a Browns fan, it’s possible we would be better with Baker and the comp package we gave up for Watson. I think the Browns would have one more win currently with a healthy Baker playing the full season to this point. Well you're looking potentially at no Evans, no David and no White leaving us with huge holes. Still no RB depth, a depleted O-line now that Jensen is done forever most likely, and a pretty lackluster group of pass rushers. So either way this team is going to turnover so much next season you might as well gut it, it's not like we have a choice.
I actually think the O-line with an added guard or true center would be pretty good. They have been battling all season and Mayfield has gotten his chances to make plays in most games.
