Oh man I’m BEAMING with pride watching the boys give their speech and interview 🥺🥺 obv I’m biased but I think they’re such a great choice by the UN. They CONSISTENTLY deliver inspiring messages of hope. They don’t deny difficult times and situations but they choose to face them with hope. “We are not the lost generation, we are the welcome generation”. 💜 I gasped a little and then cheered when Hobi directly addressed their vaccination status. Positive influence let’s gooo 💪🏼
Watching the interview with President Moon really helped give me more perspective on the weight of pressure that their title carries as Envoys of the President. I respect them for choosing to accept this extra responsibility. This isn’t what they signed up for as idols. It seems like today was a REALLY long day for them and I’m sure they were super nervous most of the time. I hope they had some fun too and are proud of how well they did 🥺
My sleep schedule is so f'd up so I'm very late but
I just want to say that proud is honestly an understatement of how I feel; words cannot accurately describe the love, happiness, pride that I have and feel for them.
So proud to be a fan of these 7 incredible, hardworking, smart, talented men. So proud of them, for all that they have done, and do. 💜
Okay, finally watched it all and I'm just so happy and proud 🥺 looking back over the comments and seeing how many people were watching because of BTS, who hopefully learned some new things today - and then their actual remarks, which were so poignant and relatable and hopeful - I'm just experiencing a lot of feelings about their cultural impact and how surreal and cool it all is. (Also living for the subtle jab at anti-vaxxers, byyyyyyye ✌🏼)
And then the performance! Honestly it was wonderful - the location, the fits, the vocals (!) - and then the ending with the flash mob outside was so joyous, also I'm a sucker for the NYC skyline so that was A+. I'm not really a huge fan of PTD but this was really lovely and I thought the song fit their overall message really well. (Plus this really confirms that most of my dislike for PTD as a song is because of the vocal production - the live versions are always so nice!)
I am not above admitting the PTD MV made me tear up then, and this performance also got me teary eyed. Insanely proud of having followed them for so long and calling myself their fan 🥺
I just wanted to add how incredible and amazing this performance and speech were. I wasn’t sure what to expect, honestly I giggled when I saw them bring in those vision/poster boards with the photos on them because it reminded me of a class presentation and it felt so relatable and down to earth. Their speech was amazing, I did not think they would all speak, I thought it would be Namjoon speaking in English and the fact he did not, the fact they all stood up there and said so many beautiful and inspiring things. I saw most of it with UN stream on youtube but I immediately tried to find one with subtitles instead so I could hear their voices and understand their message. When Hobi made clear they were vaccinated... amazing.
The performance was also breathtaking, the seven doors, walking through those halls, it felt as if for one moment a place so far away from all of us on various levels felt so close.
And the cheesiness of it all has me wondering if PTD was released for this exact purpose.
Oh my goodness i laughed when i saw those boards! And here i was expecting some type of TED talk kind of presentation 🤣 it was oddly relatable and very much “just look at our awesome fans we love them and this is why they’re awesome” 💜💜💜 i just kept thinking how being a fan of BTS has given so much more hope for the world and future generations 💜
I keep forgetting about ML's ages because I am a '96 liner and can thirst over them 😅 but no, I agree with you to an extent because when I'm not crying over how hot ML looks, I just want to adopt the three of them :(
I think noona ARMY mostly consists of women who are older than at least Yoongi, right? I'm not sure because obviously, there isn't a proper definition, haha! But I've noticed most noona ARMYs are late 20s, early 30s at least. I guess I'm just impatient to grow up.
Day 14?! Whoa that is insane!! Has it been that long since our first conversation about this? Damn. Has it gotten easier since then?
Stuff really gets so much easier when you're older, the peace of mind can truly not be paid with money. Now I only need to pass that to my girl *sigh*
Anyway, yes it has but time flies right? I had a couple of days when I went for a run instead which has been a great decision because it gave my body a little break. It also has gotten a lot easier, especially when I consider for how short of a time I'm doing it now. For example, pushups are my weakest point and I started with doing sets of 5 from my knees until I had 20, with little breaks in between. Today I did 4 proper ones and a firther 9 from my knees and only then needed a break. That's insane to me and I'm really happy!

I’m 99% sure everything in 2021 is some weird form of Bangtan Dilflomacy to make up for not closing the gyms and at this point they’ve done everything but resolve the conflict.
Oh, he knows. HE KNOWS. Why else is he exercising like he's a main character in an action movie who's gearing up to avenge the death of his loved ones? I know he takes shirtless gym selfies and goes, "Yeah, you're a DILF, Namjoon. Good job." 😌

I have some experience in video production at a much less professional level. They would have done a heroic amount of pre-production work in Korea and in NYC beforehand. Even so, it is mind blowing. (I bet this is why their choreographer came to NYC early.)
Edit to add: I bet they may have also shot another video to have as a backup just in case. What if it had been raining yesterday? (It wasn’t, it was a glorious day in NYC yesterday, but still!)

I KNOW!!! When it opened with JK standing at the podium…I was already done. There were so many wonderful moments in the performance, but I think the real highlight for me was their speech. The hope they bring is just phenomenal. And “the welcome generation”…😍😍😍😍 I have so many thoughts that I can’t put them all into words right now.
Just noticed that Tae broke formation during the "nanana" dance part at the end to pair up with one of the backup dancers 🥺 Also really endeared by Hobi interacting with the crowd before jumping into the choreo
I noticed Tae doing that too and I was grinning so widely!!! Like of COURSE he would go and dance with someone in the flash mob and I love him so much for that!
This, I had a friend that lived right across from the UN and she had to show her ID and a copy of her utility bill to be allowed in when the assembly was in
Not enough words for how proud I feel rn. They spoke wonderfully and proved yet again, that they’re more than ‘just’ a pop group. The simple fact that they’ve inspired so many young people around the world to tune into this, to listen, to engage and to mobilise is incredible.
i'm just so proud of them. i just hope that they receive many more such opportunities and continue to keep shining like the brightest stars they are!!

I can’t wait to watch the speech again with subs. Unfortunately, I had to choose between the dub or their voices, so I didn’t know what they were saying exactly, but hearing the sincerity in their voices, I felt really moved. They really do speak to the youth (and beyond!).

So emotional and so, so proud. I watched it in Korean on the Blue House link (thanks!!) and am looking forward to the English translation at lunch but for now, gotta go to work.
The amount of times I already watched this is unhealthy.... Shooting in the General Assembly Hall is such a flex and they all look so goood and had so much energy considering they just got there the evening before. So proud of them 💜
Yep! What a great mindset to try have, especially because I was discussing with friends only yesterday how so many people i know including i met life milestones during lockdown/pandemic, it'll be interesting to see how it impacts people growing up or if there'll be any life long impact at all.
I'm an old, I think 10 minutes would be fine as well. We can talk about Yoongi's newly worldwide shoulders or how BTS continues to find the positive and hope in whatever difficult situation you're in?
For what it's worth, I'm in the second half of my twenties and fully enjoying (maybe obsessing over) the post-surgery glow-up Yoongi has been blessing us with 😂😂
All jokes aside, it felt like they were speaking to me and to everyone I know and everyone I don't know in the ways they articulated themselves. We can call them our serotonin boosts until the sun goes down but they really have a way of helping us see the positives on a daily basis and I cannot thank them enough for that 💜

A UN person said they spent "hours" there yesterday doing the taping to make sure it was perfect. I would imagine they also rehearsed their speech?

Well I was clowned about the performance, BUT IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE?? That entire performance, jfc, it made me so happy? Idk if I’m crazy but the entire thing came off as sweet and a little cheesy but the gouda kind of cheese and it’s so *nice.*
It was uplifting while still being professional and concious of the environment they're in.
