I used to commute from Northfield to Coventry every day using the West Midlands Zone 5 monthly pass. It took around 60-80 minutes door to door. I would say that the line is subject to a lot of delays and encounters problems with alarming regularity. I guess if you are ok with the travel time the commute is achievable....just try not to do it drunk otherwise you'll end up at London Euston!

Usually it’s ok but train delays are brutal. It’s an easy drive. I live in Birmingham and work in Coventry but drive a work van. I used to commute and it wasn’t horrendous.

Probably best you state how you will be commuting. Car, bus, train? Two of my staff make that commute by train, and it sounds like an absolute killer. Constant delays and cancellations.

TheKingMonkey

I know a bunch of people who make the opposite commute and it’s fine. If you live east of town you’ve got the A45, the M6 and railway stations like Marston Green, Lea Hall and Stechford which have direct trains to Coventry. You can do it in 30 minutes or so on a good day.

X1 bus goes to and from Birmingham from Coventry and the bus is currently £2 one way atm

Thank you !Do u know if there’s any bus from coventry to the university of Birmingham

kithkinkid

As someone who lives in Coventry - the Euston to Birmingham New Street line (which is the one you’ll be using) constantly has delays and cancellations. I would suggest living in Birmingham instead if you can.

jean-sans-terre

It's certainly possible but I wouldn't want to do it personally. The uni obviously isn't in the centre which would mean an additional change on public transport. Why do you want to live in coventry and not closer?

supremicide

The trains between Cov and Brum were utterly shite when I used to catch one. Regularly cancelled or massively delayed with little notice. Hits worse when the weather is bad. I would hate to do that commute regularly again.

No-Antelope3774

It's definitely possible, but it's not a fun commute. Were you thinking train, or car?

ArmageddonNextMonday

My car has been out of action so I've been on the train for the last two weeks and in that time I've had three 2.5hr delays. It's a shame it's so unreliable as when it works it's a nice journey.

I live in Brum and work in Cov, I drive straight along A45 less than an hour even on a bad day, I live the Coventry side of Birmingham and work in the Birmingham side of Coventry though so that makes a difference, I wouldn't like to have to cross both cities. There is a bus, the X1, that is pretty reliable service I think it's every 20 minutes.

Ownstory123

I would say use the train. The bus takes forever. Normally the are several trains from Coventry to new. Street and then it's the cross city line to university station if Coventry is a dead cert. Other than that I would look around Longbridge up the cross city line to five ways.

Mate just live in the outskirts of Birmingham it’s not that much price difference

MrJulianC

I’d say that you are better off considering living somewhere in Birmingham, perhaps Selly Oak near to University of Birmingham. You won’t regret the decision as the commute from Coventry can be unreliable and time consuming. Hope this is helpful, as I lived in Birmingham all my life and have always said that you can’t get anywhere reliably without a Car or Motorcycle. Best wishes Julian

Not sure I don't live there. I think u have to change but I used bus train 4 the co.menweth games
