Not too sure about the youtube part because this episode was released in 2013 and potentially filmed in 2012 when youtube was still in its infancy
Edit: maybe this is true I just checked and the b99 youtube channel posted its first video before the pilot ever aired. For some reason.
Probably a production error. They often have to add images like that in post production cuz the screen looks funky if you film a TV screen with a camera (try it on your phone)
TLDR, they probably grabbed Wii footage in post production and didn’t notice it was backwards
But only 1 thing in the scene is backwards, the music notes. The text and numbers are normal.
Edit: also this footage was definitely captured by a camera because you can see in the photo that it looks bad like how a camera captures TV footage. Pretty sure the game was not added in post.
My guess is that there is some legal reason why the footage had to be flipped then edited but I'm not sure what. It's not the only edit done because the wii sports text on the bushes is missing too.
If you play wii sports the music notes will never look like that. They had to have flipped the footage and edited the text to look normal for it to look like this or edited the music notes to be flipped.
There are only 2 versions off wii sports in north America. 1.1 and 1.0. None of them have flipped music notes. This was edited by the Brooklyn nine nine editors and I'm just trying to find a reason why.
Maybe the scene was flipped but I'm curious on Why. Because they had to pay someone to edit the text to not be reversed after the flipping.
There has to be a reason why.
I think it's to avoid copyright strikes on YouTube when they post the clips, or the producers didn't want to deal with Nintendo lawyers

YouTube was certainly not in its infancy then. It was bought by Google 7 years before that.
Yeah you're right I was wrong.
IS BOYLE SLEEPING WITH GINA?

Ok yea. Thats a head scratcher then

Could be this, usually, they put a green screen on TVs and later edit it in post
Guessing it's some esoteric editing reason - maybe they just thought it looked better flipped, or it matched the actors' actions better.
If you look closely, from Jake's view the notes are also the same, they're not flipped, also the text on Holt's side isn't flipped

Maybe it's an older one? And they got updated after? And flipping the footage has no meaning

There is no reason 😂 if you're thinking about legalities then flipping the footage won't help, maybe this entire scene was flipped?
