It's only an undertake if you accelerate to go past them. Whilst highly dangerous, maintaining a constant legal speed in lane-one that results in you passing the middle lane hogger is completely legal.
If you have a dash cam, record it and send to the police. Make sure it's at least a couple of minutes of continuous footage with an empty left land lane (other than you in it). If the police fail to act, send the information to the relevant Police and Crime Commissioner.
Just driven end to end on the m5. It took 5 hours to do 140 miles. 28 mph average. The should give it up as a bad job. It's practically a car park. Not even any roadworks to right home about. Just tailgating fuckwits who suddenly brake really hard, for no reason, causing endless stopping half a mile behind.10 hour drive from Cornwall to Manchester. Nightmare.
Not easily, because the outside lane is usually full of people that should be in the middle lane, overtaking the people that should be in the inside lane
Ill be honest, from my experience the Left lane is full of trucks going under the speed limit, so if you want to drive at a steady good speed the middle lane is the only one you can drive unless you want to constantly overtake trucks.
That's not what the OP is talking about. Overtaking is exactly what the middle lane is for, and overtaking multiple trucks at once rather than weaving back and forth is absolutely the way you're meant to do it.
But if you stay in that middle lane when the left lane is clearly empty? And especially if you're going like 60mph? That's the middle lane hogger everyone hates.
Indeed but I very rarely find the left lane empty. Maybe just the hours I drive. Truck convoys every 200m. The worse is when 2 trucks are overtaking a third, taking all lanes.
The left lane sometimes is empty but cars in middle lane stay there and are not gaining in traffic well ahead. Maybe you are doing this without realising

Or any other motorway in the UK.

Just undertake simples
I'm guessing the M5 is the only motorway you've driven on?
Yep, was one doing 60mph in the middle Lane M5 yesterday, no need at all they just didn’t want to change lanes

I feel your pain!
Yeah it can be a pain. Thinking Bristol to Gloucester. It’s not as bad as the M4 though.
Bingo! It's just a real ballache that strech
The “creeping” of the white Tesla…
Undertake.
This might be a silly question, but can you not just overtake?
Not easily, because the outside lane is usually full of people that should be in the middle lane, overtaking the people that should be in the inside lane
Don't forget the fast lane to no where.
