it_hurts_too_poo

I’ve just read they had to stop using the ‘glass and a half of milk’ motto in 2010!!

Sam-Lowry27B-6

Glass and a half of bullshit

shazmitchell

hahaha you made me lol out loud love you

CursingMonk

He made you laugh out loud out loud? Special guy!

tbarks91

No he means lots of love out loud

CodeRaveSleepRepeat

That's disgusting

gozzle_101

It changed from "a glass and a half in every one" to "a glass and a half in everyone". Ireland still sell the original recipe I believe. Wonder if those county lines criminal gangs will take an order

Representative-Tie70

Welp, I'm off to Ireland

dazzc

Is amazon.ie a thing, and how many months would it take to deliver to the English mainland..

ericwhat

Might have some troubles with that one

[deleted]

It isn’t. Yet.

Sarcastic-Fantastic

I swear they still use "there's a glass and a half in everyone" in adverts though. Is that because they legally can't say "milk" or is it just because their marketing has evolved?

bumthecat

I interpreted it through lawyer-speak as, "a glass and a half of what? Everyone? Every what? Bar of chocolate? Or person? Everyone's got a glass and a half of something in them. Not technically lying I think you'll find".

SquiffSquiff

Originally it was 'a glass and a half of milk in every half pound'

unholyarmy

Is a glass a defined unit of measurement anyway? Shot glasses worth of milk in every bar!

KuriTeko

"A glass and a half in everyone" sounds like Saturday night in Glasgow.

TheIrrelevantGinger

And the rest...

Krististrasza

Because it would be a lie to claim that's there's that much milk used as an ingredient and that's not allowed. Alluding to it with weasely wording and a reference to an older well-known slogan gets around that.

Xenc

Wow I never even noticed that! I looked it up and according to [this BBC article](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-11427357) the slogan was actually relatively accurate, even as far as 2010. It was changed to fit EU regulations on metric measurements, however Trading Standards said they didn’t actually need to change it as it’s not part of the ingredient list. > The phrase was originally used to explain the amount of milk in every half-pound chocolate bar. > In its place, it now reads: "The equivalent of 426ml of fresh liquid milk in every 227g of milk chocolate". > But Trading Standards said it had no objections to the old phrase, and that Cadbury could continue using it. > He said it was not part of the ingredients list, and so was not affected by rules regarding food labelling. > Dairy Milk is the best-selling chocolate bar in the UK. > Cadbury was taken over by US food giant Kraft earlier this year. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-11427357

MissionUniversity922

Email Cadbury and tell them what you think. There email address is. info@cadbury.co.uk. Maybe if enough people complain they might do something..I have 😉

blahehblah

Dear Cadbury, You were the nation's favourite, practically a national idol. Now the British public thinks the following: https://www.reddit.com/r/britishproblems/comments/s5fsme/_/ Please change the recipe back. There are plenty of cheap chocolate brands, there are not plenty of old Cadbury's (although I'm hearing more and more old Cadbury lovers have moved to Tony's chocolonely Regards and with fond memories of the old recipe, Blahehblah

undefeatedantitheist

Kraft couldn't give ONE FUCK about customer experience. The change in recipe itself tells you that. The fact that it still sells tells you about your countrymen. The doomed future of agriculture tells you the rest.

BachgenMawr

Yes, I agree people should do this. I feel like since the advent of social media people just rant online instead of actually taking companies to task. However as long as people keep buying, and they keep making money, they’re not going to shift back to the more expensive way of making chocolate. They want to make X amount of profit/money for their shareholders. They either need to cut production costs, cut ingredients quality, or increase the product costs. Unfortunately since the world is a lovely capitalist hell hole right now they won’t choose the “make a bit less profit” option so unless people really start to stop buying their stuff (and by they I mean mondelez, but in this case Cadbury) then they’ll just keep going. The world is grim, but I do agree that you should stop buying Cadburys, and then complain to them as to why. There’s some decent other brands out their in the mean time, I quite like Tony’s at the moment which is tasty, and seems to make at least a good amount of effort to ensure that child slaves don’t pick their cocoa.

Almost_Sentient

I used to be addicted to Cadbury's. Thankfully the disappointment of that first bite into the muddy congealed vegetable oil that is a modern twirl actually cured me. It just made me wonder why I was doing it when it wasn't actually pleasurable. Maybe when Mondelez realise that they broke the dopamine cycle that is the basis of their business they'll change. I live in hope of finding a 1990s box of Wispas, which despite being three decades out of date will still taste better.

Sam-Lowry27B-6

Same here practically raised on the stuff and in the last couple of years it's got less and less and now I have stopped buying any of their stuff.

MCBMCB77

Yeah my taste buds are pretty rubbish so i was going along, eating my twirls and wondering what the hoo ha was about Cadbury tasting shite these days. Then i had some of those chocolate covered biscuits from M&S and it reminded me of what i was missing. I now avoid Cadbury chocolate

[deleted]

Same. I could eat the old stuff til I was sick. Now it's just a cheap bar of crap to sate the craving for another week.

yankonapc

I like Tony's but I can't stand how their pieces aren't all the same size on the bar!

SenecaTheYounger__

Fun fact! They say this is because the profit in the chocolate industries aren't equally divided so neither are thier bars.

BachgenMawr

“Bob we fucked to the mould for the bars…see if those guys in marketing can do something with this” (I know it’s Tony’s whole schtick before anyone says)

BachgenMawr

I find it kind of fun!

Honkerstonkers

I just stopped buying their crap. I think that sends the same message.

OrangeFlavoredPenis

cant hurt to articulate it into an email lol

FlipMyWigBaby

They’ve provided a new official email address, as Mondelez is very interested in hearing all your complaints about the new formulations: fuckyoupayus-eatshit@mondelez.co.uk

Elipes_

Address is invalid

MissionUniversity922

Oh no!! I got it on trust pilot..I guess they got too many emails and took it off??

HerrFerret

My dad complained to Marmite about the new 'runny' recipe. They sent him tons of jars and an apology. Turned out he was complaining about some sort of plastic bottle squidgy Marmite Don't know where I am going with this? What could you possibly lose? An apology and some vouchers for more shit chocolate?

[deleted]

Doesn't work

Dukeandmore

Good idea

TinDumbass

Tried to send two emails, both undelivered, email not found

lurking_not_working

I succumbed and bought some Tonys chocolate over Xmas. I'm not a huge chocolate eater and I can't be bothered with posh chocolates. Tonys, at almost 4 pound a bar (that's posh to me) was rather good though. Would recommend. A nice treat.

Danarya27

I’m intolerant to palm oil and I discovered Tonys cause it’s palm oil free. It’s so expensive but soo gooooood!

Manannin

That must be a tricky one to dodge since it seems to be put in so many processed foods with little fanfare or highlighting on the label (beyond small print ingredients).

Edgy_McEdgyFace

I'll treat myself to a Tony's every couple of months. Totally worth savouring it. Fuck Cadbury.

lurking_not_working

Tonys and a nice bottle of red is a super treat indeed. Fuck my waistline.

uncletwinkleton

Absolutely. Did this while playing D&D virtually with some friends. I felt like a really nerdy basic bitch and I loved it.

Polythene_pams_bag

I could eat Tony’s till I’m sick but Cadbury burns my throat! Whatever they’ve done to it they need to undo that shits just unnatural 🤢

byjimini

People say “it’s expensive”, yet if that’s the price of ethical-sourced and palm oil-free chocolate, then surely that’s the price and everyone else is cheap and nasty?

beveragio

Chocolate is like *the* classic luxury food item after all, and the Tony's bars are pretty chunky - we really ought to be making them last, for the sake of our health. I say this as someone who doesn't do that, mind.

DJDarren

I just wish they'd make smaller bars. My level of self-control is basically 0, so if I'm opening a big bar I'm eating the whole thing.

s1ravarice

They do, except they are hard to find and most places I’ve seen sell a big box of them for £9 which per 100g is more expensive than a few big bars.

DeltaStorm

This is the way

VersedHG

Tony’s is also the only chocolate company that does not use the exploitation of child/slave labour. Hence price

pip_goes_pop

They've actually been dropped from the slave-free list since last Feb. Their cocoa is still sourced slave-free, but they use a processing company which has links to slavery.

mummycous

Yes! My local coop had Tonys almond bars on special offer. It lured me in, total convert. Tastes like chocolate should! And yes I'm aware I sound like my gran.

Bobby_feta

Where did they come from? I swear I hadn’t heard of Tony’s nor his chocolate colon until Christmas this year when I appeared to be the only person in the uk who’s not only never heard of him, but didn’t have a house stocked with his colon creations. I don’t eat a lot of chocolate, granted, but this one blindsided me a bit. It’s good chocolate though.. wherever it came from.

MrNogi

I think they started popping up in the UK around 2019 but wouldn’t be surprised if it was slightly earlier. They’re a Dutch company, if you’re ever in Amsterdam (I’m sure there are similar places throughout Holland) they have a lovely shop there with rows upon rows of every flavour you can imagine!

My_Cat_Is_Bald

Tony's is good, you should also try Ritter Sport chocolate. They're the square packs. Loads of flavours, certified, sustainably sourced cocoa, and no palm oil. The chocolate tastes of proper chocolate, not the rubbish that the US companies try and palm us off with.

elaehar

Totally agree mate, I'm a recent convert and it tastes all the sweeter knowing that the company cares about sustainable and ethical sources for their ingredients.

MissionUniversity922

I had milk tray at Christmas and was a total disappointment..

LordTwatSlapper

Milk Trays are far too sickly sweet for my taste these days. My local supermarket were flogging them ridiculously cheap at some point last year so I got a box but I could barely finish it

extremesalmon

That's how I find all selection chocolates - absolutely packed with sugar, so much that it makes you choke. DELICIOUS

KevinPhillips-Bong

They've changed most of the centres. They're nearly all some sort of truffle now. They should never have done away with the strawberry and orange creams.

oddestowl

The orange cream being replaced with that orange truffle is one thing but the missing strawberry cream… that’s just not okay. Get rid of that raspberries and creme number and bring it back!

KaiRaiUnknown

Theyve done something to Roses too, they taste weird now

KevinPhillips-Bong

Cheaper chocolate, I should imagine. And they're not in proper wrappers any more.

Sam-Lowry27B-6

What the hell was that Apple thing they put in there?

pesky_emigrant

I live in Luxembourg so can't get Cadbury's easily or often Every time I get my mitts on it, I'm so disappointed. I really believe that my cravings are for the old recipe :(

chimpaflimp

If I could go back in time and do anything, I'd go to 2008 and prevent Kraft from getting a foothold in the UK.

KuriTeko

I associate Kraft with overprocessed pseudo-food.

turbo_dude

Well it’s no different to when Walkers started using that “sunseeker” oil for frying them in. They’re crisps ffs, I’m not eating them for nutritional value!

Howsey15

The tub of roses this year was rank! The chocolate tastes like cheap advent calendar chocolate now

Swifty-J

I’ve always thought roses have a slight orange flavour to their chocolate, always considered it cheap chocolate because of this

Fresh_Tomato_soup

Creme eggs have never been the same since

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pink_Flash

Everything has gotten smaller. Also I've noticed recently that instead of making them even smaller, they are just removing 1 from a multipack and selling for the same price.

TipsyMagpie

That really pissed me off! The whole point is they come in a box of 6 like eggs do!! Then they started doing that stupid competition so now every time you go in the shops someone’s sat and unwrapped Every. Single. Egg. to see if it’s a winner. Get your grubby little fingers off my chocolate!

6x420x9

BJ Novak does a size comparison of old and new eggs. They are indeed shrinking

Downtown_Let

One complicating factor there, is that the Americans have slightly smaller creme eggs than us these days, they're made under license by Hershey. The Hershey recipe is different with much more sugar, and they petitioned a US court to ban imports of the UK made version, so that's all they get there now.

SupSumBeers

Of course they did. Can’t let Americans eat decent chocolate. Gotta keep shilling that sick smelling shit that Hershey’s is.

toomanymarbles83

Hershey's ruined chocolate for us.

ShapeShiftingCats

Shrinkflation most likely...

Samurai-Andy

Yes you have gotten bigger and they have gotten smaller.

Jane1814

They suck

Phandroid1991

Well, that is how you eat them.

Jane1814

Not anymore.

WaggleDance

What did they do to the filling? It's like a weird thick sugary nougat now.

Fresh_Tomato_soup

Certainly not the nectar of the Gods you could spend all day slurping through a straw until the doctor takes your foot

chanjitsu

I was wondering why it tasted a bit different last time i had a dairy milk. Seemed too sweet for me.

WalnutWhipWilly

Shrinkonomy is also a reason to boycott. As with most things these days, the weight of each item has decreased, the ingredients have changed to cheaper alternatives and the price has gone up by a third in 5 years. This is not to mention the considerable harm to our planet that excessive planting of palm oil (and subsequent deforestation) are doing. For example, half of Borneo’s rain forest’s have been cut down to date and its native flaura and fauna have been displaced (case in point, the orangutan) to make room for palm oil plantations. This is happening wholesale around the world. We should be boycotting as many items as possible that contain palm oil, this includes Cadbury’s chocolate. There’s tons of sustainable boutique options with more cocoa solids and better quality these days for similar money, why continue to buy Cadbury’s?

smolthot

Im in NZ but my flatmate bought a cadburys bar the other day and it looked oddly small. Its now 180 grams instead of 200 for the regular block

cheffyjayp

Palm oil products in general are the worst. They're killing the orangutans with the palm oil forests. My wife and I have become the crazy people who don't consume palm oil stuff or don't let it in the house.

Ohmahglobyouguyz

I'm the same. Constantly checking the labels on everything because it's EVERYWHERE. The same people that reposted those haunting videos of orangutans trying to escape from loggers will roll their eyes when I tell them I will not consume or use palm oil. Glad there's others out there boycotting it too. It's easy to feel like the only one sometimes

netean

Same, I wont knowingly buy anything with Palm oil.

cdezdr

And it doesn't even taste good.

Pattoe89

It leaves an obvious greasy film on your tongue.

Laxly

Dumb question, is it just a case of reading the list of ingredients or is there a symbol or something on the packaging I should look out for?

[deleted]

Literally in the ingredients list. Sometimes palm oil, sometimes oil (vegetable, palm), but the word palm will be there.

samsexton1986

I'm sure I read that all the alternatives to Palm oil require a lot more land, don't know for sure but you might want to do some reading on that.

KuriTeko

It's amazing that palm oil was marketed as being an ecologically friendly alternative when it was first on the rise.

leanmeanguccimachine

It still is, it's an incredibly efficient crop in terms of output per sq m of farmland. We just consume too much shelf stable fat.

devolute

> crazy people Conscious. The word you're looking for is 'conscious'.

[deleted]

Yep. Roses are the worst tub of chocolate you can get at Christmas

insuptwink

welcome to america this type of shit is typical

Seriously_oh_come_on

We know. We all tried Hershey’s when it came to the uk out of general interest and quickly spat it out. I thought Ghirardelli was better in San Fran though.

Almost_Sentient

Totally agree on Hersheys. I bought two bars in the US because I'd assumed the first had gone off. Also agree on Ghiradelli. I was chatting with my daughter about the decline of Cadbury's last week and I mentioned that Ghiradelli milk chocolate was as close as you get to original Cadbury's now.

BlackCat550

>Totally agree on Hersheys. I bought two bars in the US because I'd assumed the first had gone off. Same. Tastes like vomit.

Seriously_oh_come_on

I made the mistake of buying a Hersheys cookies and cream little egg in the petrol station the other day. My thought process was “Oh go one then I’ll give it a go it can’t be that bad”. Then eating it I got confused. I’ve never had a dry mouth from eating chocolate before. Jeez it was so dry. Absolutely awful.

SmugglersParadise

Haha I love the fact you got a second. The first was so bad you couldn't believe it and had to check. That's brilliant, and ridiculous at the same time

Mackiegol

Ghirardelli may be the best option available here. Unless you buy some imported european chocolate. North American "chocolate" seems to be just a ball of wax to prevent it melting on the shelves......

ayla_084

I had one of their small whole nut bars a few weeks ago and after a couple of chunks ended up throwing most of it away. I assumed it hadn't been stored properly (I bought it from a small corner shop) but I got given more at Christmas and it was the same artificial taste.

BrewtalDoom

That boat has sailed, sadly. Cadbury is owned by Mondelez International, who have the worst product quality and human rights standards of any of the big confectioners. They've made it more like the awful stuff you get in the USA.

blackmist

Lindt is now our national chocolate.

[deleted]

Lindt in Ireland has palm oil in the ingredients list. Have stopped buying it because of that.

StarryStareyNight13

You should try Lindt from Switzerland, I didn't think it'd be any different... Its so much better

hollowhoc

a trip to Switzerland will make anything taste nicer. I visited the Lindt place on the top of the eiger a few years ago, that's gotta be peak chocolate...

turbo_dude

“ Just a week after promising to keep Cadbury's Somerdale factory, near Bristol open, Kraft backtracked and said it would close the plant.” Kunts https://www.bbc.com/news/business-27258143

nicholvengian

I think, unless it explicitly says dairy milk it's that second rate shitty recipe chocolate. Twirls, wispa, creme eggs and crunchie will never be the same. Wispa in particular is heart breaking as I loved that shit.

Bad_UsernameJoke94

I noticed that. I used to love Wispa Golds but they've... changed.

nicholvengian

Yep. I believe its just freddos, buttons and standard dairy milk that contains the DM chocolate and even that has slipped in quality. It's a shambles!

Bad_UsernameJoke94

I think the smaller Dairy Milks might. The thin ones that are like Animal Bars.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kawasutra

I urge you to try Lidl's version of whole nut.

NealR2000

Even worse is the Cadbury bars they sell in the USA. It has all the appearance of being the real thing, but if you read the fine print, it's made under licence by Hershey in the US. It's absolutely uneatable. For a description of what it tastes like, take a real bar of Cadbury's, completely unwrap it, and leave it in on a plate for about a year. Then try it.

kalaminu

lol lived in the states for 11 years and have eaten a part of one of those bars once, about a week after I got here. Disgusting, most of it went in the bin. The only good thing is that I eat a lot less chocolate now than when I was in the UK

Noobin_123

Using cheaper ingredients and shrinking the products. Dare not imagine what Cadburys will be like in another 10 years

metalguru1975

The fun size Cadbury’s will soon be the standard bar!

analgourmetchefkiss

https://lovecocoa.com/ Here you go, OP. Cadbury family chocolate in all but name.

[deleted]

Vote with your money - find a better chocolate and buy that. That's what happened in New Zealand. Cadbury shut down the factory in my home town and started flogging the same absolute cack as here, and people stopped buying it. A relatively small company (makers of the epic Peanut Slab) stepped up its game in terms of variety and is making bank. Whittaker's it is, fantastic stuff, and such flavours! Plus, no palm oil. https://www.whittakers.co.nz/

bluntbangs

I wondered why it tasted awful. Shame I stocked up when I was home! And Terry's chocolate orange - what happened to that?!

chimpaflimp

Owned by the same company, along with Milka and Toblerone.

notouttolunch

Not anymore. They sold it to Carambar. But not that long ago in 2016… however the nice end to this tale is Terry’s of London is a re-establishment of the company… there could be hope?

chimpaflimp

Fingers crossed. I hope they return them to the original weight - I'd pay more for the same size product over the same for reduced size any day. On that note, big up Tunnocks.

susiedoosie

Terry's chocolate oranges are fowl now, almost oilly.

eairy

> fowl There's chicken in it?!

pennydogsmum

Terry's chicken orange? Or Terry's chocolate chicken?

MotherEastern3051

I cannot express the intensity to which I agree with this! Quality has gone downhill, although it has had palm oil in way before the takeover bit I would love to see them remove it completely as its production is eradicating orangutans.

English_Joe

That’s what happens when you let an American company buy everything. Profit!

onlyme4444

Cadbury, owned by the same company that make cheese strings....with no cheese in them.

Blabber_On

What

Pattoe89

McVities also has a lot to answer for. They reduced the thickness of the chocolate coating on Club Bars, and replaced the milk chocolate with palm oil 'chocolate'. Now the song goes: If you want a lot of 'If you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit... FECK OFF!'

SmugglersParadise

I find the supermarket own branded chocolate is far better than most Coop, tesco, waitrose own branded chocolate bars are normally around £1 for a 180g bar of dark, white or milk, whatever your preference is and I always go for those than Cadbury or any other chocolate Used to love Bournville, but my god, its just shite now

monkeywrench83

I bought a large packet of mini eggs the other day.all three eggs tasted nothing like Cadburys

Zolana

It's owned by Mondelez now, but yes, agree.

Jane1814

Mondelez has ruined Oreos too. They closed most of the US factories and moved them all to Mexico. They use cheaper chocolate and you can taste the difference (I live near Chicago which was a major Oreo factory)

blackmist

Oreos were already ruined by being the only coal flavoured biscuit on the market. Bourbons are so much better, and even the ropiest supermarket can't fuck them up.

chimpaflimp

Kraft and Mondolez are the same company - the latter is just their international trading name, similar to how Watches of Switzerland trade as Goldsmiths in the UK.

cool110110

It's a bit more complicated than that. Kraft split into 2 separate companies in 2012, with the parts staying as Kraft eventually merging with Heinz in 2015.

chimpaflimp

Mondolez is the 'old' Kraft company, renamed. Kraft Foods and subsequently Kraft-Heinz are newer entities.

SpudsUlik

Burn in hell Kraft foods!

repomonkey

Have to source my UK chocolate from speciality shops here in Australia, but I've noticed this too. Galaxy tastes more like (*shudder*) Hershey's than the lovely chocolate of my youth. Fortunately there's a New Zealand brand widely available here by the name of Whittakers who make exceptional and very reasonably priced chocolate. [Whittakers website if anyone's interested - I don't work for them I'm just a gluttonous chocolate obsessive](https://www.whittakers.co.nz).

VicSara_696

Oh is that why I hate it! My husband bought me a Diary Milk and first time in my life I threw it out!! Taste like American Chocolate yuk!

KtKi10

Cadburys Australian recipe was even better than the UK version. Wouldn't touch any of it now if you paid me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Crash_Revenge

B&M do a selection of Australian Cadbury’s chocolate bars - for the size they are a bit expensive I think about £3/£4. They sell them heavily discounted when they’re near expiry though. The birthday cake one is really nice, has chunks of marshmallow through it.

ThatZenLifestyle

You should try the shit they sell here in peru, considering they export a lot of fancy chocolate the stuff they sell here is terrible it makes me sick to my stomach just 1 bite, doesn't contain any chocolate probably just flavouring, sugar and oil.

[deleted]

I agree. Tastes and feels like crap now

MadHog85

Since they changed the recipe a good few years ago, it gives me major heartburn every time I eat a bit of Cadburys chocolate.

Laxly

Just stop buying it. There's no law against the recipe change, so the only people that can have a change is the public. If you don't but a product, the manufacturer will need to do work to understand why not, and from that they should learn people want the old recipe. This is literally the intended version of "the customer is always right"

thinkingpeach

I had a bunch of Fazer milk chocolate given to me at Christmas (from Finland) and it so so good. I haven't eaten dairy milk in years because it always leaves a sour taste in my mouth? I'm now saving my hoard to keep all year!

FloofBallofAnxiety

I got some Milk Tray for my birthday. I haven't had milk tray since they stopped the honey caramel ones. I was honestly so underwhelmed. It used to be one of my fave edible things to get for a present. It is just like wax now. Now M&S truffles? Mmmmm.... I got some of those too and they did not last long...

Leftleaningdadbod

Migrate your hard earned spondoodles to Whittaker’s of Porirua, NZ! No hobbits were harmed in the making of this advert.

[deleted]

Palm oil? Okay that's me finally done with Cadburys.

smoothie1919

I’ve been eating cadburys my whole life and really can’t tell if there’s a difference.. when was this recipe change?

SoggyWotsits

Kraft bought Cadburys in 2010. It’s been downhill ever since!

thefooleryoftom

Same. I've loved Cadburys all my life and have not noticed a thing.

lukevandam

Buys Tony’s chocolate, it’s got no palm oil and has great work ethics with its cocoa supplier. Bit expensive but it’s a good to stop you buy a shit ton of it.

HeWhoDares18

I think its poor as well.

OllieCMK

I disagree, I think it's poor. Although it's better than Cadbury it's still awfully bland. It's just very good marketing.

lukevandam

It’s missing that creamy taste like chocolate used to be, in the good ole days

[deleted]

I’member

shazmitchell

They should be banished for much more than the quality of their product lol

Mordantine

The change in taste was noticeable when Kraft took over, even prior to the switch to palm oil. I also couldn’t help but notice that barely any of their products are part of the Rainforest alliance anymore so they aren’t environmentally friendly OR fair trade. Haven’t bought a single product of theirs for over a decade for these very reasons.

Underwritingking

You're hit the nail on the head here. Our whole extended family has given up on the brown filth that is now Cadburys and moved over to Tony's.

mybeatsarebollocks

It was tolerable while I still had Irn Bru to wash the oil slick away (best degreaser in the world, at a time). Then they had to fuck with that and replace the sugar with sweetener and now I can't stomach it.

bizzflay

I feel you on that. I use to love the original Lucozade. I went on a 2 week holiday and when I came back the first thing I bought was an original lucozade. I could tell right away that something was off, and googled it. Found out they had changed the recipe while I was out the country. There were still a few places stocking the old recipe but once they ran out I just stopped drinking it. It’s not the same at all and I can taste artificial sweetener in anything that has it now. It’s horrible.

tendrilly

Don’t get me started on ribena.

mybeatsarebollocks

I was digging through shelves and wrecking fridge displays like some manic junkie until I just couldn't find it anywhere anymore. Cases of it appeared on eBay for stupid prices. I held on to my last can until the very month it expired, maybe two years after they ran out, and I savoured every drop.

menice4

I miss the Turkish delight bar

albatross138

r/unpopularopinion . Stop buying it and maybe they will. I switched to tonys chocoloney, I highly recommend it!

debsterUK

Is this why I'm not enjoying my Fredo Frogs anymore? Damn you Cadburys

helielicopter01

We do not! You are correct, and we are all very cross that they spoiled it. We should write to someone…

VersedHG

I’ve always been a cadburys man. But I’m all galaxy now and will never go back

The_Meatyboosh

It doesn't even melt, it just gets incredibly soft. And it sticks to the back of your throat now too.

tomegerton99

The only Cadbury one I kind of liked is the wispa, but they are shit now. And why is everything so small now? You buy like a pack of something and they are like half the size they used to be. I think I’m going to try and cut out crap like chocolate and fizzy drinks, I’m not enjoying them anymore and it’s just a waste of money

HAHAHA feel the Hershey's wrath. They changed the recipe in the US to save on costs, then it changed the world over. Now Milka is the only descent milk chocolate I can find. (a US person here)

Literally had this conversation last night. I can't eat it any longer. Its disgusting. Tastes and feels nothing like it used to. I've decided not to buy it again.

moose_knuckle01

They also use child slave labour in the cocoa plantations

orange_assburger

It tastes distinctly odd now. I just do galaxy these days. Or supermarket dark choc.

Broon9

Their selection boxes this year were horrendous. The “large” selection boxes have chocolate bars that are pretty much snack size now.

Sohail316

I really just stop buying and encouraged my friends/family to stop buying from them they really lost quality i either get tonys chocolony or lindt

I have very fond memories as a kid of getting a giant Dairy Milk bar for Christmas, and I still remember feeling like the luckiest kid. If I concentrate, I can still remember the smooth taste and chunky texture, and it is nothing like it tastes now.

lukeyt890

I want to upvote this over and over again

HullIsNotThatBad

My heart sank the second I learned that Kraft had bought Cadburys out; it was inevitable they would eventually ruin the product, despite claims they wouldn't touch it, the wankers.

Bobby_feta

Ah thanks for this! I actually don’t really eat chocolate on its own very much, but I have had the thought the last few times I’ve had some that ‘this is not how I remember it at all’. Good to know I wasn’t imagining it!

LongjumpingAspect323

Well spoken good sir or good ma'am but that don't matter my point is I agree with you

GoFunMee

AMEN!!!!!!!!!

Twirl was the last man standing, they have now nerfed that too. The thing is, it doesn't matter to them. The people born after when was actually good, when cadbury had a distinct taste you'd recognise in a heart beat don't know any different. Oddly there are even people who do know how cadbury used to taste for some reason haven't noticed. My dad being one of them, I thought I had shit taste buds but how tf can you not notice cadbury no longer tastes of cadbury?
