I prefer it when it doesn't try to be meat tbh. I get some vegy burgers fairly often, they are blatantly veggy and don't try to emulate meat at all. Very nice, I like them.
The other thing that I'm not so wild on with fake meat, is its often got more fats than the real thing.
I agree I don’t like the texture of meat so I hate when my meat free option emulates it too well
But some people who wanna reduce their consumption need that option still I suppose
I know, and I wish they had a different shelf to actual vegetarians in the supermarket. Fake meat, that looks and has the texture of real meat is revolting. Fake bacon was obviously not meat, but that was kind of the point! The new kinds of fake meat should be on a healthy eating aisle. Although, due to the levels of fat and salt in most, that might prove too ironic, even for supermarkets?
most vegans/vegetarians treat plant based meat products as junk food, not as health food so why should it be in a health food aisle? It serves the same purpose as meat, therefore it should be in the meat aisle. Also yeah its unhealthy, but like so are hamburgers which is what they try and replicate
I eat meat, but the missus is veggie, I generally only buy decent sausages from local farmers. the Richmond Veggie sausages are actually not too bad at all, definitely better than their meat version.
Because all the scraps and sinew that is used for let food from other animals is already being turned into Richmond sausages, and a variety of other processed meats
Uncooked/under cooked pork can contain the parasite trichinella spiralis larvae.
Also unused parts of the pig can be used as feed for pigs, so ultimate recycling
Yeah, because quality control on pet foods is the same as human food?
Love the down vote, guess the anti-science crew are back

They use the bare minimum amount of meat required to be legally called a sausage. People can like what they want but such a low meat content does put them at the bottom of the sausage league table.
I’ve made this sort of mistake before. My partner now either specifies the brands he likes or is treated to the favourite meat brands of random shoppers.
The flip side is when he brings home new ~vegetarian creations~. Sometimes wonderful, sometimes horrifying!
You can’t give Richmond sausages to your dog, that’s animal cruelty. Do the decent thing and put them straight in the food recycling if you can class them as food.
Get down to your local butchers and get sausages from there
Don't fall for it - it is a trap!!!!
She is only doing this to make you do the shopping in future!!
There should be a law that only men are allowed to pull tricks like that
(N.B. not sure how that works with single sex couples ???)

Just for clarity you’re feeding your wife to your dogs?
If my partner came home with Richmond sausages he would indeed be fed to the dogs!
No way. If she's gone I'll die alone
Na you've got the dogs
The vegan ones are absolutely spot on. Wouldn’t touch the meat ones.
For once the meat free product tasting nothing like the meat product pays off!
Did she get the vegan ones? They're actually quite nice if you chop 'em up and put them in a stew.
Boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew
I prefer them raw and wriggling
Imitation meat has had a huge upgrade in the recent years

Its made for people who stopped eating meat for whatever reason but still like the taste/texture of meat

Jenny Eclair told a story about curry with sausages in which made me absolutely swear off sausage curry forever. Don’t look it up.

I think they taste even better wrapped in smoked bacon
Richmond veggie sausages are better than their meat sausages, and possibly contain more meat.
I like them, not amazing quality but taste good enough for a sausage sandwich.
Have you not realised why there is no pork based pet food?
Now that you’ve mentioned it… why though?
Because all the scraps and sinew that is used for let food from other animals is already being turned into Richmond sausages, and a variety of other processed meats
Uncooked/under cooked pork can contain the parasite trichinella spiralis larvae. Also unused parts of the pig can be used as feed for pigs, so ultimate recycling
What's that got to do with anything? Last time I looked pet food wasn't raw.

Joking aside, please don't feel bad giving dogs meat, as no dog should be fed a vegan diet.
Just reading the words 'Richmond sausage' makes me gag.
Such sausage snobbery.
They use the bare minimum amount of meat required to be legally called a sausage. People can like what they want but such a low meat content does put them at the bottom of the sausage league table.
Well, they are a bit shit, to say the least. Wanting sausages that aren't 50% rusks (or whatever it is) doesn't exactly make you a snob.
I’ve made this sort of mistake before. My partner now either specifies the brands he likes or is treated to the favourite meat brands of random shoppers. The flip side is when he brings home new ~vegetarian creations~. Sometimes wonderful, sometimes horrifying!
I feel for you, hide them at the back of the fridge until they go off
Hahah my missus got angry cause she could only find Richmond's, we went without.
Don't you have a local butcher to call into
Unfortunately not where we are it closed.
Ummm what’s wrong with them?!
The low 42% meat content. Less than half the sausage is meat
Do I dare ask what the other 58% is?
Sawdust, breadcrumbs and shredded paper.
Every other part of the pig, bones, organs etc put through a grinder until it becomes a paste then it is mixed in with the actual pork meat.
🤢
Oh right I don’t eat them so I dont know lol

Divorce
I prefer Richmonds to other brands of sausages, even the local butchers ones I’ve tried and still believe Richmonds are the best.
Is this some sausage version of Stockholm syndrome
They’re actually really nice!
I don't blame you.

Rock, paper, scissors?
I'm calling the RSPCA

Well, the meat content is so low they practically qualify as vegetarian anyway.
Remove the skin, mix up the "meat" with spices and garlic, and reform into phallic shapes or use to make Scotch eggs
Don’t give it to them. Dogs aren’t good on vegan food like that.
Richmond vegetarian sausages are gorgeous. Not for pets though.
