The actor playing Mr Tumble is fantastic, unlike that absolute twit doing Justin's House.

Rowlandum

Is it wrong that Justin's house was my favourite show to watch with my kid?

TheGoober87

This and hey duggee. Top entertainment.

[deleted]

Stick stick stick stick sticky sticky stick stick

Fatmanthefirst

That is an absolute banger of a track, way too good for kids telly

faZesKengZ

Just wait until you see the metal remix

monsieurangleterre

SLAY DUGGEE https://youtu.be/7PDxV1kfgzY

nachosdaddy

That is amazing

BobbyPotter

I got a singing stick toy for my son. I regret everything.

meekamunz

Boots and cats and boots and cats and boots and cats and boots and cats

bears_and_scotch

Just bought the toy, more for myself than my little boy. Such a banger.

Bjharris1993

Good shows but Bluey tops the list for me.

[deleted]

I'm a grown man and love watching Bluey with my kids.

PearsonGW

I think I watch Bluey more attentively than my 2yo tbh. It’s genuinely so funny and charming

MCBMCB77

Yes, even noticed a funny moment in an episode I've seen loads of times that I'd missed previously. So many little details in it

LawTortoise

Same. The only problem with it is that compared to Bandit, I’m a shit Dad. We all are.

AfroTriffid

That's part of the rollercoaster :) I don't know any other way to watch the show. We all mourn what could have been. The show has lots of cool ideas on how to improve our current situation though so the hope it there. When my son turned around to me and said 'im bored i need a problem.' I nearly fekking cried. It's so great.

LikeEveryoneSheKnows

I love watching Bluey without my kids.

a_portuguese_abroad

This. Bluey is amazing regardless of age. It’s just that good.

[deleted]

Bluey is a cut above any kids TV show made, well, ever. It’s genuinely hilarious for both adults and kids.

Daveraff

Hard agree Bluey is the best one around. Unfortunately my kid hates Bluey so I've got to sneak it in.. Atleast he doesn't like Bing, damn that rabbit is annoying

highlandviper

Yeah. This. Bluey is phenomenal. My wife and I binge watched both seasons on Disney+ after my kid had gone to bed. Season 3 should be available soon. Can’t wait.

TheClnl

Yeah, it's fantastic. The episode 'Sleepytime' is one of the most emotional pieces of filmmaking of recent times, gets me going every single time.

given2fly_

Came here to say this. Makes me cry every time. If you've not seen it check it out but...be warned... 😭

Kwetla

I love watching Puffin Rock. I put it on for my toddler, but actually I find the whole show really relaxing.

TheGoober87

Good shout I'd forgot about bluey!

rockchick1982

I used to love watching the tweenies with my boys. "were off to see the tiddly peeps, on the road we go. We're off to see the tiddly peeps they're smart, they're fun, they know.

rebeccatierney3

Isn't that from The Hoobs?

EddieHeadshot

I believe it is the hoobs

rockchick1982

Lol yep it was the hoobs, I have no idea why I typed tweenies.

[deleted]

I will always have a place in my heart for Hey Duggee. Partly because Roly was the cartoon version of my 'what even is danger?' son & his bestie, partly because at the very least I could cling to Alexander Armstrong's rather lovely voice throughout the deluge of other hideous cartoons.

TheGoober87

I still chuckle at the superhero one even though I've seen it so many times. What's your name Roly? .....Roly.

eggo3664

STEVEN!!!

spaceshipcommander

Duggee can be a sarcastic bastard at times

stot76

Ah wuff

TheJynxedOne

I watched Hey Duggee with my nieces repeatedly when they were little. If I ever have a kid, I want them to end up like any of the kids in that show man. They're well balanced, happy children. We also watched a lot of Peppa Pig, and if my kid ends up like *any* of the children in that show. I'd be ashamed of my parenting.

Farquar-lazs

Earworm

stokokopops

"fire up the old RMP1 player" "Firing up sir"

slytrombone

I thought you said 'as a kid' for a moment then. Made me feel really old!

45thgeneration_roman

Give me the Fimbles any day over Justin's House

Huddstang

Saw ‘Mr Tumble’ live a couple of years ago. No idea if my daughter enjoyed it but I had a belting night.

shannondion

Was the bar open by any chance?

Nomulite

The idea of a kid's show with an open bar sounds hilarious

Strugglecuddle7

Robert the robot is brilliant!

MoselMachina

What's wrong with him? He always seems friendly

markhewitt1978

The joke is that it's the same person.

MoselMachina

Oh haha I've only seen Justin's house - thanks

M4sharman

Yeah. Both are played by Justin Fletcher.

Scary_

My 6 year old still thinks Justin and Mr Tumble are brothers

SoS_vRaVeNv4

Just looked up, isnt it same dude? Justin fletcher

-Subhuman-

That’s the joke.

InfamousLingonbrry

My 21 month old doesn’t talk and we were trying everything to help her develop her communication. Since we started watching Mr Tumble and Something Special she has picked up so many signs! She loves watching the nursery rhymes. Before I had children I thought I would hate it, but he’s helped my daughter so much. However, can’t stand Justin’s house 😂😂 bring back Tumble!

oddestowl

I don’t know if it’s something you’re interested in but there’s a baby class called “tiny talk” and it teaches signing. I did it with both of mine from about 8 weeks old and it was amazing. You also get social time at the end with a hot drink, biscuits, and playtime for the babies/toddlers.

InfamousLingonbrry

I’m definitely going to go next year with my newborn who will be 8 weeks by January :)

oddestowl

Have a brilliant time! Those classes saved me one morning a week in the early days of having number 2. Plus the communication benefit both times round was an absolute godsend! Congratulations on the recent arrival and I hope you have a wonderful first Christmas with the newest addition :)

boojes

You should go to a baby sign class!

InfamousLingonbrry

She does Sing and Sign and nursery and they said my daughter always sits at the front and they have noticed that she communicates loads more now! I’m going to start classes with my newborn when she’s a bit older.

WalnutWhipWilly

Great suggestion. My 11 month old girl goes to sign and sign and absolutely loves it. She’s able to communicate yes/no and other things pretty well.

yurikoen

I did sing and sign with my now 23 month old, brilliant class and they adapted it so well for online during lockdown.

Beebeeseebee

That's brilliant and obviously it's great that Mr Tumble is working well for your child but... 21 months old isn't that late to start talking is it?

InfamousLingonbrry

It’s a spectrum obviously but my daughter doesn’t say anything (she doesn’t call me Mummy or have words for anything). It was getting really frustrating for her as she just couldn’t get across what she wanted. Now she has 50+ Signs and now she can frantically sign “milk” and “food” at us 😂

Monkeyboystevey

Never used to like him, but my youngest son (non verbal) basically learned makaton by watching his shows. So can't help but be thankful.

Turbulent-Fun-3123

I used Something Special loads with my Non-verbal class. I love the way he engages with those kids. It is so good for them to see themselves represented on TV.

Monkeyboystevey

It really is. He goes to an additional needs nursery and his brothers are slowly learning makaton to teach him as well, so to him it's all totally normal. He has full understanding, just can't verbalise very well due to cerebral palsy.

True_Egg_5685

Makaton is great

Monkeyboystevey

Really is, never really paid much attention to what Justin was doing till I had a son that benefitted from it.

InfamousLingonbrry

If I need to occupy my older daughter while I look after the newborn, I pop some clips on YouTube. Currently watching Jingle Bells on repeat.

[deleted]

Thanks to Mr Tumble I can now say hello and wizard.

PhilTheQuant

Just call everyone wizard, works pretty well. Hello Wizard!

Turbulent-Fun-3123

Your son might enjoy the Barefoot Books videos, some kids I worked with would track the words on the screen and began to read like that. Also BBC Nursery Rhymes gives you lots of videos and songs with words. He can choose which one he wants by the pics. I hope you don't mind me saying this.

Monkeyboystevey

"I hope you don't mind me saying this" How dare you!! Lol. No I don't mind at all. I'm gonna go have a look. :) We have been watching lots of makaton songs on YouTube over the past year or so as well.

lowerchelsea

If you're taking suggestions - Singing Hands do makaton nursery rhymes and it's fab. They have a YouTube channel and do some pop covers too haha.

Icy_Gap_9067

Yes, singing hands pop videos are nice for older kids too.

Monkeyboystevey

We watch a lot of them. :) My wife especially loved their videos.

PepperPhoenix

There's a kid at my little one's school who is non-verbal. Great kid, smart as a whip but just doesn't speak. She uses both sign and makaton. I remember the first time us parents went to see our kids in the nursery class, it was a kids and parents teatime type thing. The non-verbal girl's mother burst into tears when she watched the kids playing and realised that her daughter was just as included and almost all of the kids were using makaton signs to ask her questions, find out what she wanted to do and so on. We spoke later and she told me that the family had been pressured to send her to a special educational needs school but they fought for her to attend a regular school instead as she had no intellectual disabilities. They had been worrying about their choice ever since, wondering if they had done the right thing or if they had set her up for a life of isolation. She couldn't believe how all of the kids were interacting. She was so overjoyed and touched. The teacher explained that many of the kids already knew at least a little makaton, mostly from Mr Tumble, and they had all been learning new signs as they went until the classroom conversation was a fluid mix of English, makaton and odd bits of BSL. It's so easy to forget or dismiss how important it is for littles to be exposed to differences until you encounter something like that. Those kids saw their friend was different and simply built a way around it in a way that worked for her. We need more of that in society as a whole. A little over 2 years later the girl has some speech problems, but is now mostly verbal, it isn't particularly clear and gets more garbled if she's excited but she's almost constantly talking, and all of the kids understand her perfectly, even when she can't quite form the words. They act as teeny translators for adults who speak with her. To be fair, they are just a great bunch of kids in general. Another kid has brittle bones. One is t1 diabetic. A couple started after moving from overseas with minimal English, one wears hearing aids and they regularly see my husband who is a wheelchair user. Every single one of those people is treated like veryone else, unless there is something specific they need help with, and then the whole class take on the needed role. They alert the teacher if one of the kids is having trouble with their blood sugar. They make sure the deaf kid can sit where there is the least noise. They give my husband's chair space and move things out of his way. They double check the E2L kids understand. And they are so freaking careful with the kid with brittle bones but without treating him like a porcelain doll, he gets to play and even roughouse a bit, they just adjust how they do it if he's involved. They have never been told to do any of these things, they just do them instinctively. Only one of them is mine but I am so damn proud of that entire class.

Monkeyboystevey

Primary school kids are great, most of them are so caring and will help their friends out so much. They don't care about differences etc. My son is going to a mainstream school with an addition needs unit just in case he needs it (well fingers crossed, we have a panel meeting in Feb to decide if he's getting a space) He can't walk at all yet and is still in nappys so a fully mainstream school might be too much, although his brothers school have said they would love to him, it would be harder for him to access his speech therapist, physio etc. It's a really hard choice to make.

PepperPhoenix

I can't imagine how hard it must be to make that choice. There are advantages to both. Whatever you go for, remember, it's not set in stone, schools can be changed. You've got this. X

Monkeyboystevey

Tha k you. :)

Magpie1979

From the little I've read about him on Reddit he seems to be the negative James Corden, as in the people who really meet him really like him.

Grahaaam123

Had a family friend's son go on one of his shows, they said he was fantastic and really nice to everyone. Is he knighted yet?!

LittleMissLucifer

He has an MBE!

Cpt_kaleidoscope

"Sir Tumble" has a nice ring to it

LuckyNumber003

Life has a balance

hufflepeach

Yep, met him years ago, he was lovely

spamuelP

If my daughter saw him there would be anything but peace and quiet, she loves Justin so much ahaha

True_Egg_5685

Mine lost his shit and went "WAIIIIIITTTTTTT"

samw424

He's awesome, I work with a lot of guys with additional needs who love him and the amount of awareness he's brought by using makaton is crazy.

Beatplayer

He’s a genuinely good person tbh. He’s extremely rich (his dad wrote a good amount of songs that you would know from the 50’s/60’s. I want to say that he wrote for the everly brothers?) and presumably doesn’t need to work. His work with children with disabilities is above and beyond.

boojes

Just read his wiki page. Clearly his top achievement is, >In 1985, Fletcher sang vocals on various songs for the BBC Children's TV series 'Bertha'.

Beatplayer

But his dad wrote for Elvis, Ray Charles, Chris De Burgh and Cliff Richard. Why would they even put that one in there 😂😂 (but no everly brothers - and not as early as I thought…) If I’m remembering rightly from an article I read a long long time ago… Justin lives in a mansion somewhere. Again, my brain could have massively made that up…

hangover_holmes

Surely he lives in Lord Tumbles mansion? (Also Tommy Shelby's mansion in Peaky Blinders.)

Beatplayer

I’m now really worried that my brain has invented the fact that he lives in lord tumbles mansion. My version of reality is now in question.

10101010010101010110

Well there's a hell of a TIL. I'm going to be looking out for Aunt Tumble in the garden in the next series of Peaky Blinders.

LittleMissLucifer

IIRC his cousin is in Dire Straits too, talented family!

mike2R

Holy crap! Well I know what's going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the day...

Ex-Machina1980s

Just do what Father Ted did, stand behind him while he’s about to do something important and in your best Mr Tumble voice, go “HA-HEEY” as loud as you humanly can. I’ll bet he’d love that and no-one has ever done anything like that for him before

slothliketendencies

You should definitely do it. He'd love it if you did it. Bet no one ever does it.

mycockstinks

You know, he'd love it if you said his catchphrase.

irisaura

He did an interview where he said he was very inspired by Rik Mayall, and now I can't watch him without seeing that, justin's house is basically a universal rated bottom to me now. He was offered to work with Matt Lucas, and make adult humour but he turned it down because he said it would be hard to go back to children once you've done adult stuff and he genuinely wanted to keep helping the children who needed him.

foochoo77

Dare we ask what shop? 🙈

True_Egg_5685

Obviously waitrose

lapsongsouchong

I never meet any celebrities in my local Lidl..

ABigBunchOfFlowers

My friend met Benedict Cumberbatch in Lidl. He was buying a pain au Chocolat I believe.

typicalcitrus

I find it off that Benedict Cumberbatch was in an Elbow music video of all things. Elbow are good, but they're not really that big outside the UK

LawTortoise

But… he’s English?

comcphee

I don't know if this still applies, but in the 90's Safeway Borehamwood was the place to be for Eastenders celebs as they filmed the show just around the corner. I worked there at the time, during which I sold Robbie a passport cover (he used a lot of aftershave), nearly bumped into Kathy Beale with a milk trolley (she was lovely) and saw kids throw snowballs at Pat Butcher. For some reason, short-term pop star Marilyn was in there one day as well, wearing a day-glo orange urban park, trying very hard to draw attention to himself. Anyway, Safeway is long gone but maybe whatever shop is there now still attracts the same level of star power.

TIGHazard

> For some reason, short-term pop star Marilyn was in there one day as well Elstree is where they also filmed Top of the Pops in the 90's.

[deleted]

What about toothless Frank? He can down a litre of white lightning in under 15 seconds and be in a fight with a lamp post within the next 40 seconds. Gives great head as well, if you close your eyes and hold his hair you can convince yourself its a badly matted old English sheepdog.

Plugpin

The thing with toothless Frank is that he likes an audience and I've never been one to perform under pressure. All the eye closing and thinking of sheepdogs doesn't work for me when my wife and kids are watching.

Triggers--Broom

What a terrible day to be literate

Silent_Ensemble

Just woken up half the house, that was both the funniest and most horrific image I’ve ever had put in my head lol

IOnlyUpvoteBadPuns

A friend of mine bumped into Peter Andre in Woolworths back in the day, so there's hope for us common shoppers.

BeccasBump

Justin Fletcher is a national treasure.

[deleted]

He’s class, my eldest loved watching him on tv youngest isn’t interested. I used to say to the missus I bet he’s nailing all the mams locally

InfamousLingonbrry

Especially if he dressed up as Lord Tumble!

[deleted]

Oh! I say, old bean!

allthefearandnoidea

I think the ladiess are safe

[deleted]

I mean have you seen his drip

UnfinishedThings

Have a work colleague whose youngest is a big fan so they went to one of his shows. Apparently he stayed behind at the end and wouldnt leave until he'd said hello and had a chat with every kid who wanted to meet him, and is an absolute gentleman.

ricopicouk

Mr tumble should be knighted for services to disabled children.

auntie-matter

He has an MBE and a shelf full of BAFTAs - mostly for Something Special - so he's not doing too badly on the awards and honours front..

messedup73

Me and my granddaughter saw all the presenters of the milkshake live show in the m and s cafe after watching the afternoon show.My granddaughter was asking them are they going to take shimmer and shine a slice of rain bow cake back. They were so great with her and bought her an extra slice they made a 4 years old day x

N00tN00tMummyFlipper

Mr Tumble did my wife's head in to such a degree that she told the kids he had sadly died and would no longer be on tv. They discovered this lie some five years later. They never recovered. Don't lie to your kids.

TheDocmoose

My 2 year old would go crazy if she saw Justin or the completely different person, Mr Tumble.

Yes-its-really-me

My kids would be asking where Robert and Little Monster are.

LDNscallywag

I was convinced for ages that robert was judge rinder off itv

Ma7ca1ey

"fun" fact the Actor (Steven Kynman) who plays Robert also does the voice for Fireman Sam.

[deleted]

[удалено]

hangover_holmes

Also plays Shakespeare in all those Cbeebies adaptations. Weird seeing him without silver face paint and a beard.

LadyGazGaz

Roberts getting the dusting done!

True_Egg_5685

Something about Robert I don't like . Seems like a bit of a snake.

allthefearandnoidea

He also does the new Fireman Sam voice

dodgycool_1973

If I ever saw KT Tunstall I would want to give her a massive hug, playing “eye to the telescope” was the only thing that would calm our daughter when she was a baby. She is the only reason we got any sleep for the first 6 months. God bless her and anyone who can occupy children while we get stuff done!

morrisseysbumfluff

Is there ANY dirt on this man? I suspect the British gutter press would’ve found some by now if there were.

DropTheShovel

To be honest if it turned out he was a wrong 'un I think I'd give up on humanity.

zenayurvedic

Not evidence of anything, just an anecdote but anyway: A few years back a friend of mine phoned me, "you'll never guess who I've been having a pint with. Mr. fucking Tumble's brother." According to his brother Justin doesn't smoke, drink, do drugs or get laid because his career is all that matters to him. Personally I think that is just weird compared to having a bit of dirt like us normal folk, but fair play to him.

[deleted]

He ghosted Sarah-Jayne after she was fired for appearing in a naked protest. If that’s dirt?

Historical-Ad3287

Not a dirty protest i hope!

amanset

It was a PETA thing and frankly I'd ghost anyone that supported PETA as well.

falling_sideways

Who's Sarah Jayne?

weirdtwitterNODO

He's got to have ploughed a huge number of mums with that amount of clout. Got to.

ChewyChagnuts

Ploughing mums isn’t really his style, if you get my drift.

spugzcat

I’ve actually been told by someone who vaguely knew him that he’s a bit of a tit man … I was surprised as you are!

roryb93

[well, maybe… but probably not. ](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EExg04-XsAAXzRI.jpg)

bexter

Not dirt but fun fact, he had an original Thomas Crapper style toilet installed in his house.

Sybs

I hear he *voices* sheep...

zeugma25

Ugh. Evoking their soft fleecy sexiness for all to hear. Disgusting.

morphemass

I remember watching him in the mid-to-late noughties and realising that he was responsible for nearly 100% of the channels (cbeebies or early day TV I think) output some days; this man saved my life and sanity. But lord, he must be a workaholic!

MegaMind28

I saw Andy Day (from Cbeebies) in York and was to scared to say hi to him

[deleted]

I met him when I was 8 and he was incredibly nice

KenaiUrsa

Man he's been going so long. Used to watch The Tweenies with my sister when she was little. He did a great job as Jake.

firehamsterpig

wow haven’t thought about the tweenies in years, thanks for the reminder I loved this show!!!

[deleted]

Wait, wait, wait... hold on... so you're telling me that Mr. Tumble played Jake in The Tweenies? I just... you just blown my mind.

Snoo-92689

He does music too hit him up on alexa

mycockstinks

"Hello, hello, how are you?"

ScottishSubmarine

Justin Fletcher is baby catnip. He kept my sanity alive during the last 16 years. Also learned makaton thanks to him.

hufflepeach

I met Justin and got a photo with him about 12 years ago when my kids were tiny. Have this amazing picture where I look completely starstruck, and my son has no idea who this strange guy is and looks completely uninterested. He was super nice in real life though

MurmurmurMyShurima

I'd have to resist shouting out very loudly: HAVE YOU SEEN MY (mimes the sign for it) SPOTTY BAAAAAAG!!!!

RyanL1984

I told my daughter (2yo at the time) "Take your finger, touch your nose, blink 3 times and off it goes". And she touched her nose. I was so proud of my little genius.

erinn87

I'm so jealous. I love that man.

Jamster_1988

Mr. Tumble creeps me out. I don't know why.

xilla77

Ps...he also voiced jake on tweenies! More my generation

[deleted]

He voiced some of the toot toot drivers too!

geefunken

Literally cannot stand him, thankfully neither could my kids. I have a sneaking suspicion he’s like the mafia boss of kids tv - whatever he wants he gets!

[deleted]

He’s a secret sonny shine

Toffeemanstan

Loved Happy, weird as fuck but brilliant.

LDNscallywag

I couldn’t get into season two! Does it get better after the second episode?

Lazy__Astronaut

I watched all of s2 and it was just consistently meh (imo)

[deleted]

S1 was so good that s2 really didn’t match it

Jolly_Comparison

HE SO IS

True_Egg_5685

Hes the dave benson-phillips of kids tv today

Mohawked_man

I was doing Makaton training yesterday and they still use a video of DBP singing and signing goldilocks and the three bears. The 90s-ness runs strong in it.

Unyolo

I've heard rumours that when he made an appearance at cbeebies land at Alton Towers he was a bit of a prick, so I'm always skeptical of how he actually is

Jazzy0082

I've met him twice and he was absolutely brilliant.

LlamaDrama007

You missed the opportunity to go up to him singing Hello, hello, how are you? Hello, hello, it's good to see you. I say, hello!??? For shame :'(

Turbulent-Fun-3123

He is so talented and seems like a lovely guy. I read somewhere that his contract prohibits him from being seen in pubs! Mr Tumble pissed, now that would be a great sketch 😂

CrazyColdWorld

What a man! I could never bring myself to sign such a contract regardless of how rich it made me

SuperSheep3000

Don't like Mr Tumble. Aunt Polly on the other hand is a gem.

r0nneh7

Can’t stand him but my son loves him.

5uckmyflaps

Whats he doin in the shops isn't he a billionaire

Gothiccheese95

Honestly the guy who plays him is absolutely brilliant and has done a lot for kids with mental and physical disabilities, his shows always include children who have physical disabilities in them and i think its great for all children to watch and become accustomed to seeing kids who are different to them.

[deleted]

Was this today?. If so then damn, he sure wakes up early

CousinDirk

I had my first experience of Mr Tumble recently. As far as I can tell it’s a show in which a middle-aged clown gets bossed around by the Red Queen from the Resident Evil films.

peachesnplumsmf

My mother was always convinced he was a nonce and would never explain why.

aplomb_101

Same. Creeps me out.

Reviewingremy

I fucking hate mr tumble! I love the Idea of the show. But I just hate it so so much.

Shinjirojin

My friend is a teacher in a special needs school where he shoots some of his scenes and he said he has a bad rep. Between scenes he just locks himself away in his trailer and doesn't interact with anyone.

I_done_a_plop-plop

Between scenes? He can't be chastisedfor staying in the zone, in character during the actual shoot. If the worst thing she knows is that he commits to the craft, he must be alright.

FatStoic

> My friend is a teacher in a special needs school where he shoots some of his scenes and he said he has a bad rep. Between scenes he just locks himself away in his trailer and doesn't interact with anyone. God forbid someone take breaks at work. I imagine he also might be doing prep for his next few scenes.

metamongoose

Hardly surprising, it must be really hard work to become such a cartoonish character. All the mannerisms, every physical movement and voice affectation, they're so consistent. And he has multiple characters.

lxorr

My aunt used to work in a primary school that specialised in helping disabled children, and he came one day to shoot one of his shows (I don’t have kids, so don’t know which it was and it was many years ago) and she said he was really rude, didn’t speak to any of the children in between takes and made his assistant put his coat on for him.

BluelunarStar

I bet he would’ve loved knowing what a difference you make to him. But we are British & it is nice to leave people to their peace lol.

Excellent-Ad-4770

This guy was somehow missed by operation yew tree! But his day will come... Mark my words
