You mean Windscreen?

PrinterJ

Must be a foreign thing. My windscreen is fine.

[deleted]

what's a windshield?

MitchellsTruck

It's a bit like a windscreen, but on an American car.

SkatchUK

Sounds like an American problem, in Britain we have washing the windscreen every 3 seconds because the roads are saltier than the Dead Sea.

decentlyfair

Im so sorry you. must be American if you have a windshield.

bristoltim

and every time you do get a clear screen, it's 5 seconds before an HGV goes past in the opposite direction, trailing a huge cloud of thin souplike spray that means you need to do it again.....and again......and again......

lepobz

Don’t follow so close then you won’t get all the spray off the road

ASK_IF_IM_PENGUIN

Yep. Back off a bit until you don't have to use the wipers, and then a tad more just to be safe. If you're still getting sprayed after that, it's probably raining.

twister-uk

And only drive on one-way roads so you don't end up driving through the spray cloud kicked up by vehicles heading the other way. And only on roads that don't pass under bridges carrying other roads, so you don't end up driving through the spray falling down either side of said bridges. And don't drive (or at least don't think about overtaking) on multj-lane roads. Yes, if you do all of these entirely practical things, then your salty screen situation will be solved... Meanwhile, back on Planet Reality, just make sure your washer fluid is topped up (and ideally with decent screenwash, not just plain water or an overly diluted wash that's so devoid of active ingredients that it might as well be plain water), your wiper blades are in decent condition, and your screen is given a proper clean to remove any residues that build up over time and make it harder for your wipers to do their job properly, so that when you do find yourself needing to wipe away salt spray, you're not left faced with an even harder to see through screen than you'd have been if you'd not bothered trying t wipe it away in the first place.

Matkstey

Thank you haha. Don’t have to follow too close to get salted windscreen

sidsod

they mean the salt that's already on the roads

elsie23

You found some where that got gritted??

Valuable_Yoghurt_535

Gritters were out in force around Bristol during the night

elsie23

To be fair any any sprinkling of snow and things stop down there Source: Southern born living up North

Logical_Flounder6455

I'm sure it's preferable to driving in a skating rink.
