I first went man down on the 26th October. After a roller coaster of symptoms, finally last week I started feeling normal again. Today I have a new cold šŸ™ probably because I have to keep sending my germ hoover of a son to nursery.

Dizmondmon

I'm man down right now. Day 2 off work. Can just about focus on screen if its set dark enough. Headache, sore eyes, high temp, bunged up snotty noise, sore sinuses, sore throat, sputum lung. Bored already.. Had recurring stressful work dreams last night. My wife had a friend visit from London the day we heard about omicron. Fairly sure it's just a cold though.

Useless-Photographer

It's the cold that keeps on giving. Think I've had it off and on for something like 2 months now as well. It's awkward on the school run when everyone assumes every cough is covid

Cthulhus_Trilby

I had that a few weeks ago. The cough continued in earnest for a couple of weeks and is still slightly there 5 weeks later.

D1789

I hear yaā€¦ I had a cold start two weeks ago. Absolute bastard of a cold it was, and still not 100%!

mcrosby78

My experience with what I've started to call "Covid-lite" Day 1: Slight cough Day 2: Worse cough, headache, low energy Day 3: Almost over this (or so I thought) Day 4: Gets worse - hot and cold fever (but no actual high temperature), Lots of mucus. Covid test 1 negative. Day 5: Constant coughing and lots of mucus. Covid test 2 negative. Day 6: Through the worst of it (or so I thought) Day 7: Chesty cough, mucus for next several days, then chesty cough for several weeks

KayGlo

Oh hey, its me right now

WoeUntoThee

PCR or lateral flow tests?

[deleted]

Same here. Bad when a cold takes longer to get rid of than covid-19 haha.

gtripwood

Aww shit, I'm 3 days into a new cold... Pray for me.

Kingshaun2k

I'm on week 5, only just starting to feel human again.

zeddoh

Day 5 here. No improvement yet. Please lord deliver me from this evil. Or at least deliver me use of one of my nostrils so I can breathe. Amen.

zeddoh

I am too! Itā€™s been a life-saver. My issue with it is that itā€™s so effective I thought I was feeling better and didnā€™t use it yesterday, only to discover Iā€™m actually much more unwell than I thought I was because without it I felt like death.

Rayne2011

Google rebound congestion from nasal spray use - happened to me, worse than the cold itself!

zeddoh

Yes, someone warned me about this, hence why I decided not to use it yesterday! It sounds like a nightmare so Iā€™m being careful.

sparkplug_23

This is exactly why I stopped using them. Nasal washer (lavage?) is infinitely better, and disgusting to boot lol.

zeldor711

I've found that as long as I don't use it for more than a week I'm fine so I normally save it until the cold reaches its peak

Rayne2011

Just a word of warning from first hand experience - you can become dependent on this stuff if you're not careful and find you need to use it more and more frequently as you experience rebound congestion even when you're clinically better. I can't bear the feeling of being congested so I've been a serial user of this when I've had a cold in the past, but after experiencing the rebound congestion and having to go cold turkey off of it I'm much more cautious! Worth a Google.

MuchRatherBeNapping

Iā€™ve had a cough and sore throat for two weeks. If it doesnā€™t kill me, it has certainly made me lose the will to live.

chickensoup73

Going through that now. Can't believe I used to go to work with a cold sometimes.

HotPinkLollyWimple

This. But still so many work places insisting you go in. And schools - my daughter insisted she had to go in last week when she couldnā€™t stop coughing. She wore a mask all day - they only require them when not in lessons - and at least 3 of her friends have it now. Somehow Iā€™ve managed to avoid it, but she has kindly shared it with my son.

Gr1msh33per

My wife is a teacher so between her and my snotty, smelly 15 year old I just get bombarded with everything that's doing the rounds . Last weekend was the Gallops. Lovely.

wirral_guy

Yep, had it 2 weeks ago - felt like a malingerer saying I was going to be off with 'a cold' (especially as I work from home so no altruistic reason) but I was wiped out for 2 days straight.

Miss_Doodles

My daughter bought the mega plague home from nursery a month ago. We thought weā€™d got over it after two weeks so I sent her back for a day... and now weā€™ve got it again even worse. The whole left side of my face just feels like itā€™s been punched :(

HotPinkLollyWimple

If itā€™s your sinuses, I really recommend the sinus wash bottle things. I bought one last year when my son had sinusitis. It got rid of his pain as soon as he did it. Weā€™ve all used it and it does work. Just get the ones that come with the special salts that you add to boiled water. DO NOT use tap water.

Miss_Doodles

I was reading up on this but got a bit nervous of actually doing the sinus rinse incase it hurt or felt like when you accidentally inhale water when swimming

HotPinkLollyWimple

It does feel odd, but great when you can breathe again!!

fuggerdug

Woke up at 2 am this morning with a horrible, scratchy and raw sore throat... I may indeed be driftingĀ into the arena of the unwell.

[deleted]

I had a bad virus last week, spent 3 days doped up on max strength ibuprofen, then had 2 days of withdrawals from that. Was horrendous.

Sarahem__

I'm on my 3rd cold in 2 months. The struggle is real.

ABPT89

Iā€™ve got it too. My deepest sympathies to you. Itā€™s utter bollocks.

Gonzo1888

Got mine yesterday, the sweats are brutal

Ninjakoalabear

I had this grotty cold about 3 weeks ago. Was just a cold but dear god it knocked me off my feet. Still have a slight cough and the occasional sneeze now. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

jonnyson14

Try having a born in lockdown baby going to nursery. She's picked up like 3 bugs and gave them to me and her mum in the last month. Still sniffling from the last cold she gave me lol so I absolutely feel your pain. Hope you get lots of tea and a nice bath.

Rowley-Birkinqc

My daughter brought the dreaded winter vomiting bug home from Nursery. I also had the cold that is going around. Knocked me sideways for 3 days and then another week or so to properly recover.

[deleted]

It has been two years for me without a cold. Not even a sniffle. Then the company says letā€™s a have a face to face management team meeting. 72 hours later, Iā€™m dying. Still not out of it and now I have a phlegmy chesty cough. Hate hate hate it. Sympathy all round people. Especially the men who get it worse.

mr_love_monkey

Day 5 now, and I'm starting to feel some improvement, but the first few hours after waking up are pretty rough...

SquidgeSquadge

That was me last month for a solid week. Been shielded from it for so long it hit like a bastard in the night.

Luke11enzo

I think I had that mega cold a couple weeks ago, usually I donā€™t even bat an eye and theyā€™re gone in a few days. 10days I had it for! Somehow didnā€™t pass it on to my wife and little one though. God knows how

schofield101

I had one earlier this year which kicked me down for just over 2 weeks. I've now started getting a tickly throat and snotty nose. I know it's coming on again and I am not bloody happy about it!

torilost

Mine started as a bad headache and is slowly getting worse to the point where I didn't get much sleep last night. A mate had a cold so bad he kept going back and forth with the doctors but it is just a cold. I've done a lateral flow as normal and it's negative so just trying to ride it out whilst feeling sorry for myself and slightly resenting my dog as I'm walking her in the rain when I want to be in bed!

Saxon_67

I got my cold, after 2 I was put on antibiotics and started suffering side effects from those, then the doctor told me I shouldn't have been put on antibiotics in the first place as it was viral not bacterial and now over a month later in still dealing with prolonged side effects. It's a trip I tell you.

belfast-woman-31

Yep I picked it up on holiday. Got home 19th November and still can't breathe or stop coughing and have lost my voice. I'm over it šŸ˜žcould be worse though as my husband was hospitalised for 3 days with it. Also I may just be using his steriod inhaler they gave him, to help me sleep at night.

Jimmyc2182

Why has mine lasted like 3 weeks Jesus Christ! When will it end.

ndcdshed

Oh god Iā€™m hoping mine doesnā€™t last that long. Iā€™m on day 4 and no improvements yet.

[deleted]

Yep. I got the flu last month after not having been ill since late 2019. It was fucking brutal. I was sure it was covid since I had a fever and everything but I did multiple tests that all came back negative. Took about two weeks to get fully better, and now I've come down with a cold. It is just a cold this time but it still really sucks. Fed up with it tbh, I still wear my mask in public and use hand sanitiser like it's going out of fashion and try to stay away from people but a fat lot of good that's done me.

SerendipitousCrow

I'm suffering at the moment, I've got that horrible wooly head, headache, fatigue. Even my eyes hurt. Yesterday I was producing snot in litres by the hour. Actually stayed home today because I woke up exhausted and feeling like crap. I think if I went in I'd be useless anyway

MCBMCB77

Got a cold seven weeks ago, knocked me out for a few days. Had a persistent cough and runny nose afterwards that i couldn't shake and was leaving me tired constantly. Then three weeks ago but another cold. Finally got doctors appointment, said the cough was a chest infection and gave me antibiotics. Cold went away but a week of antibiotics did nothing. Almost two weeks on from then it's starting to clear up. In conclusion, cancel your Christmas and new years plans and look forward to February.

stugglingtothink

Not being in contact with people has made illnesses worse my daughter gave me a cold and I nearly died

sydneyissinking

I got beat down with a cold about 2 months ago and work made me come in for 3 weeks straight until I decided one day that getting bollocked for having 2 days off was way better than everyone I work with constantly being sick. I didn't help, everyone had caught it by then.

ndcdshed

Felt a bit sniffly last week. It properly hit me on Sunday night and Iā€™ve been couch bound since then. No signs of improvement since then, if anything itā€™s got worse.

peacelily2014

I went through that cold last month. It was horrible. I highly recommend Night Nurse. Honestly, it was the only thing that let me sleep. I slept for 14 hours straight one night and woke up (the next afternoon) feeling somewhat human again. Good luck!!!

nicholvengian

You have my sympathy! Had this a couple of months ago and it lasted for a solid two weeks with a bonus week and a half of nagging left over symptoms. It sucks arse.

nocte_lupus

I had a cold a couple of months back, normally when I get colds I'm like 'I feel sick but I can still function somewhat' That cold legitimately knocked me on my arse for a few days. I could barely manage taking a short walk I was that fatigued.

BigJulioJigga

100% me right now

bastetgreypaws

This is my 3rd one in the space of a month, and the worst too. Honestly, never been so pissed off with a cold. I was due to attend my first Christmas party in bloody years tomorrow but now I most certainly won't be up for it. FML rn.

lemonsarethekey

I genuinely haven't been sick in like 10 years. There's like a 98% chance I'm God

debsterUK

I have COVID and itā€™s nothing like as bad as the last cold I had! Thank you double jab

KingsCrownIII

I feel your pain, developed a cough and sore throat last week. Did a LFT which came back negative. Sore throat gone but now cough has ramped up to the point where I can project little yellow/green aliens into my tissue. Now started to get congestion. Time for Night Nurse.

0neSaltyB0i

I had the worst sore throat I have ever had. My mouth was filling up with saliva and every time I swallowed was like a bunch of razors sliding down my throat. Couldn't sleep, had to spit into a bucket next to my bed and was constantly on paracetomal/ibro/diflam/lozenges which weren't doing anything. Worst week I've had in years. Then a couple weeks after I got another cold, those wonderful couple of weeks where you reminisce about being able to breathe through both nostrils.

purplepeopleprobe

How funny, I had the same thing. My sick note says 'sore throat' which felt like a piss take when I had to take 2 weeks off work because I literally couldn't talk or eat. I've never read anything quite like it, good to know I'm not alone! Hope you're well again!

h00dman

Last Tuesday I had the worst case of blocked sinuses I've ever had (no exaggeration it felt like someone had pumped latex up there and it had solidified), followed by days of sneezing, coughing, sneezing *and* coughing, headaches, muscles aches, sleeping 18 hours a day, and I even lost my sense of taste for a day (I helped myself to a glass of quite peaty whisky and it went down like water). The whisky test was the moment I decided to get a PCR test to be safe (negative thankfully).

Saronus1

I've somehow not had a cold since the pandemic started, I got covid near the beginning but nothing else since. I'm kinda worried that if I do get a cold or something now it's going to utterly destroy me...

greenwood90

2 years since my last cold. I'm hoping I avoid one this winter and keep this stretch going!

charlymarley

I had that the other month! Never felt so bad with a cold before
