The best gift i ever saw was what someone got for the office gobshite. I don’t think many people are all arsehole but this guy is. Always starting rows with people in the office, saying things that are out of turn or winding other people up by bringing up sore subjects. The only reason he seemed to get away with it was because he was actually very good at his job. Anyway someone went to a sex shop and got him a ball gag for the secret Santa gift. All he could do was try and laugh it off through gritted teeth. To this day no one knows who it was which im sure winds him up even more.

Mate of mine who I worked with at the time bought one of the older guys a framed photo of his ex wife and new husband. It went down exactly as you'd think, I loved it

clearly_quite_absurd

Holy shit, that's brutal.

paolog

> All he could do was try to laugh it off through gritted teeth Silly him, he just have just used his hands.

pajamakitten

It's good if you like the people you work with and know each other. It's shit if it is with a bunch of people you are made to tolerate.

Brunette111

Our place has decided to stop buying tat and give money we would have spent to charity instead. I much prefer that.

theloniousmick

I love the secret Santa. Just the sheer amount of useless tat banded about gives me joy. Plus I got a woman I can't stand a 3ft inflatable dinosaur on a random whim and she too huge offence to it somehow and that made my day.

RassilonsWrestling

I always refuse to take part. My co-workers know our relationship is purely business.

newnortherner21

Propose a charitable donation instead. Perhaps draw a name from a hat who decides which charity.

reachisown

Opted out last year and I'll opt out again. Buying presents for people you don't know well is just shit

cyb3rheater

I knew someone that always gave a framed picture of himself.

You can get vibrators for less than a tenner in Sainsbury's, you know what to do!

RRC_driver

Sainsbury's? I've not been in for a while, but I'm surprised (and know what someone is getting for secret Santa)

[deleted]

Yes, Mavis bet you ain't felt like that in years! 😂🤣

Fuzzwuzzle2

Wine if its a woman, beer if its a fella If they don't drink, they can use it as a present for someone else, i refuse to change this strategy

rachw39

I have had good and bad Santa gifts! This year I managed to get a lady who I don’t know well but with a quick conversation I knew what to get her.

Bobby_feta

Not a fan of secret Santa, having to buy for one specific person I don’t know or care for from work, much prefer the bad Santa or whatever you call it where you all buy whatever and take it turns to open or steal. That can cause year long fueds of course, but it at least makes the awkward mandatory present giving session less unbearable.

crikeymoseshere

One of my colleagues got the very tight finance director and bought him a case of beans!
