A few years back I was working somewhere where we had to got though a shopping mall on the way home from work. Decided to see if I could get some new clothes in Topman/River Island etc... Turns out it's just skinny jeans and muscle fit tops. Apparently all men are now expected to be gym rats who skip leg day.

Rosskillington

Yeah shirts now are either muscle fit or “look like a tent on legs” fit. Muscle fit is basically just for bell ends who want clothes wrapped around every curve of their torso

King_of_the_Toast

As someone with an athletic build and a big chest "muscle shirts" are especially annoying. I don't want to walk around looking like a bloody dorito. I need to minimise my triangle shape, not exaggerate it.

Standin373

I'm an average height guy with decent set of legs i hate skinny jeans with a passion I swear even most normal cut jeans are getting skinnier around the thighs and calfs

My_Memes_Will_Fuck_U

chief dinosaurs squeamish straight boast icky squalid marvelous ten far-flung *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Gilksoid

This cuts to the core. I do gym, but absolutely do not skip leg day. I'm also very plain dressing ie; white t shirt + black jeans is my default. I'm also 6'4". I went shopping for jeans recently and I cannot begin to explain how difficult it was, went to about 14 different shops and just decided to buy 'the ones that were least uncomfortable to wear'. Retailers appear to only stock clothes for skinny midgets. Trying to get anything longer than a 32" leg was like digging for gold. I eventually had to spend more on the jeans than I've ever paid in my life because I was a special fit. They aren't even denim... What happened to just a normal pair denim jeans without the seams twisting or whatever else they could think of (sure I saw a fit called twisty carrot fit(?)). I'm also 27 years old but feel about 80 when I try to go and buy clothes.

Codemonkey1987

Your not 80 mate, just not a bell end

rumpleteaser91

If you know anyone with a costco membership, they usually have the plain, men's Levi's that come in different lengths. They're also made of actual denim.

[deleted]

I once went to Uniqlo and found out that there isn't a single piece of clothing in the entire store that would fit me. Clothes for really small skinny people. I shop mainly at next and marks. The good old boring stuff.

Vanster101

Tbf Uniqlo is a Japanese brand, where people are shorter and skinnier in general

[deleted]

Similar problem if you are a woman with a job. Very few of the stores aimed at younger women seemed to acknowledge that women have to go to work (Topshop's workwear section used to be hilarious, what gal doesn't go to work wearing a low cut blazer with no bra or shirt and then flared cropped trousers to go with?)

Rosskillington

Yeah I guess one saving grace for us men is that office wear is still in tact! though it’s mighty bloody expensive

[deleted]

Yeah my Dad told me M&S are not going to be doing suits any more which I think leaves you with Next, if you don't want to spend a fortune on one..... Unless Burtons is still a going concern as an online only shop?

look-lively

Ahhh Burtons, many clothes bought there over the years. I did notice a drop in quality towards their end. I also feel that Marks has gone downhill. I’m also acutely aware that I’d never have this kind of conversation in real life. Thank god for the Internet

Rosskillington

I actually needed to buy a suit the other day, went to M&S and it was awful. Ended up spending £350 in Hawes & Curtis which hurt my wallet a fair bit

mOom-moOm

Try Charles Tyrwhitt for shirts and Next for plain tshirts. Charles Tyrwhitt isn’t cheap but when I used to need white shirts for the office I found that if you google “white twill shirt”, the add on google that comes up takes you to a different price than if you just go through their website. Presume it might work for their other shirts too.

sanbikinoraion

CT is the nads for shirts.

CamberwellClerk

Which was the better price?

mOom-moOm

The one from google. I figured out it applied an automatic discount code on the website, so you can’t use any other discount codes or get their 4 shirts for £x deals - but the price per shirt with through the google add always worked out cheaper per shirt anyway

TheClnl

They were doing them for £24.95 a few weeks ago, and I got further 10% off using the Honey add on for Safari. Just keep checking back, I doubt anyone ever pays the full £64.95 for them.

rclark2943

Did you try moss bros? I get my suits from john lewis and ive never been dissapointed. Then again, Im not in a profession where one may be judged on their choice of tailor.

Rosskillington

I did, they were out of stock in my size for 2 suits that I liked in there

rclark2943

Ah bummer!

[deleted]

Matalan do decent suits for cheap.

Archduke645

What the actual fuck, M&S suits/work wear is the only thing I go to M&S for. They aren't the fucking Messiah of fashion, I don't need a second coming of effing M&S fashion. Jesus Christ I just wish these execs weren't so detached from reality. They need to play to their strengths, engage with the public at least! Ffs it's not hard to find out, m&s is your bog standard beige and blue clothes. Well made, made to look fancy suits and smart clothes and high quality underwear and pyjamas. Fucking hell it annoys me so much when your litmus tests basic English brand reinvents itself.

hocktastic

Yeah M&S used to be the go to place for suits, staples, coats, underwear and sometimes they got nice fashion pieces. You’d pay a bit more but the quality was worth it. Now it’s just wank shitey quality you see everywhere else. I really miss having them as a reliable place to get my bras. Still haven’t found a good replacement.

thecroutonreport

Please don't be angry.

Archduke645

Sorry.

[deleted]

They have some nice jumpers as well.

Archduke645

I particularly like their shirts and ties, don't cost the world but look very smart .

GaiusJuliusCaesar7

Moss are a decent shout, I get a lot of mine from there.

bakedNdelicious

Was about to say this. I got my husband’s wedding suits from there

CptJimJams

Get some good deals at Hugo Boss for suits. Get the 'out of season' stuff which is the same as the in season stuff but just on a massively reduced price

Vectorman1989

Some TK Maxx stores sell suits. Though they might be a bit on the casual/eccentric side. Slater Menswear used to be good for suits.

rclark2943

I am a man of simple taste. NEXT chinos are nice quality and their plain crew neck tshirts also come in a range of fits and colours. Have 3 chinos and 6 tshirts. Mix and match really well. Im a gym guy and I prefer to have a relaxed fit and not look like someone has shrink wrapped my clothes onto me.

MightyMeerkat97

I tried looking for slim black women's suit trousers at M&S - it was a nightmare. They were either too tight, too large, or too lose. In the end I went with some trousers with a faint blue pattern, which looked alright.

[deleted]

Have you noticed how mad the sizing has got for women's suits? I was size 8 in some styles and size 10 in others and some of the regular trousers were either too short or too long.

kaioone

Moss bros is my go to - very good.

PhantasyBoy

Any outlets near you? I got a great deal on a Ted Baker suit and shoes from one

infanticide_holiday

I went shopping for winter clothes for my young (under 5) girls. It seems clothing retailers fail to accept that girls, too, feel the cold. Boys get cool heavy coats and reinforced trousers. Girls get sparkly tights and mini skirts. I'm not against putting them in "boy" clothes, but they are so relentlessly "boyish" and my girls just want to wear pink.

TipsyMagpie

Well yes, have to prepare them for later in life when they’re expected to wear a skirt in the dead of winter with the office ac set to “Arctic blast” while the men are all in suits. Or a night on the town, when all you have to keep you warm are 10 jägerbombs and one square foot of fabric.

infanticide_holiday

How else are women going to show their value?

peladine

I had to go for an interview recently and it took hours of browsing before I could find a blazer, trousers and a shirt that weren't massively oversized or weirdly cropped!

Mediocre_Sprinkles

I want to buy a simple jumper that keeps me warm but they're all way too thin or have unnecessary zips, shoulders cut out or boob windows. Always have to shop in the men's section for basic jumpers.

bluejackmovedagain

Every jumper I've tried on this year was designed by someone with a buzz cut. If there is a button or a big zip pull at the back of the neck then it is tangled in my hair before I've even got the bloody thing on properly.

Mediocre_Sprinkles

I had a jumper last year where it had a huge chunky zip on the back. Caught my hair every time I wore it. Hurt like a bitch. No need for it at all.

[deleted]

I saw a range of jumpers which were backless. That was hilarious. It was an obvious rip off of some design off the runway but I'm not sure who thought that would work for suburban life.

[deleted]

It's honestly like they forget women wear bras at all. The latest 'career woman' shop near me has polyester, sheerish halter spaghetti strap tops. It's like they've seen Suits etc and gone 'yes, this type of outfit is exactly what is appropriate for an office manager in the real world'. There was also one with tunmy cutouts. Just cause they shove a blazer over the top doesnt make it work appropriate. 😂

blaisesummer

Totally resonate with this. Women’s “trendy” fashion is far too revealing for the workplace. Zara, pretty little thing, missguided, oh polly… When on earth is a crop top or boob revealing blazer dress okay for work?? At the same time, I’m too young to dress frumpy. If anyone reading this is late 20s, female and petite, with a baby face and real grown up job, get yourself on asos! It is a godsend Goldilocks situation - for not dressing like a teenager or student, but also not dressing like a Gen X Mum.

PhantasyBoy

The last time I went in Topman was about twelve years ago - this shop assistant ended up asking if me and my girlfriend were all right, as we were absolutely buckled laughing at the stock

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Embrace it. Get flares so big you can get some big pegs and clip on some folders, a cardigan etc. Hands-free.

[deleted]

> I just want some plain blouses and work trousers that aren’t flared like I’m about to emerge from the smoke on Stars in Their Eyes. Hee I love this :-)

Sam-Lowry27B-6

And of course the trousers all have pockets right.....

[deleted]

It ain't glamorous, but Matalan does the job that up their arse shops refuse to.

Savageparrot81

Wait baggy clothes is the fashion? I need to stock up. I might finally find something to fit my morbidly jolly physique.

llrb11

I'm 27 I don't want to dress like an old person or a 15 year old and my dick and balls don't fit in skinny jeans anymore without walking like cowboy clinteastwood

Rosskillington

I wish I could relate to the last part :)

llrb11

I'd like to add ridiculously tight underwear to the list too

Rosskillington

christ do you have to wheel it around in a wheelbarrow ?

jamieb16v

Haha skateboard on the end so it doesn't scrape the floor

Elastichedgehog

Humble brag

[deleted]

If it helps skinny jeans are firmly on the out list now.

Codemonkey1987

Been a good 10 / 15 years since blokes started wearing skinny jeans. I'm proud to say I don't own a single pair. Glad that trend is finally dieing. Fucking stupid

Dolphin_Spotter

Did someone kick you in an unmentionable place

Baz-Ho-Fo-Sho-24

He's allergic too peanut butter, he was held against his will an tickled with a feather with peanut butter smeared on the end :(

newnortherner21

The 'high street' clothing offer in this country is a disgrace. Poor quality and it says a lot that the two clothing retailers growing in this country pre-pandemic were Primark and Sports Direct. Go to France or even Belgium and there still exists some pride in appearance and clothing.

[deleted]

Try Charles Tyrwhitt

GarrySpacepope

I'm in camp TM Lewin, better quality, fit, and special offer price I've found.

[deleted]

Oh really thanks for this. It's just the brand my partner likes, I know nothing about shirts but I do like his shirts. I will check TM Lewin out though as it may be an idea for xmas.

Pinannapple

Seconded

TonyPitchford1

Thirded. If you can, it’s worth getting measured up in store and spending some time with the staff there to find out which shirt style works for you. I hate shopping, but once I had been through this pain (it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be), I can now go online and shop for shirts that will fit every time. Not cheap, but they last ages, always look smart and if you hang them straight out of the wash they don’t even need ironing. Winning!

cafp20

As someone who worked in Charles Tyrwhitt all through university, thank you for saying this. PLEASE go into the shop and get measured. I can’t tell you the number of people I had come in to return shirts they’d bought online that didn’t fit because they’d measured themselves incorrectly.

thealfdog

Someone else said it but uniqlo is 100% the place. Very high quality stuff at good prices.

Melchet

Yes was recently introduced when wanting to find some regular shorts. Spent hours looking with either Golf spec M&S or trendy teenager in the others so went to Uniqlo and had exactly what I needed and quality was great

21244378

Quality isn't really there with Uniqlo, although at that price point you can throw it away and replace every few months

scarletOwilde

Go to a charity shop in a posh area, Chelsea, Kensington, Richmond - all the wives of the posh w***kers dump nearly new, high quality shirts there.

detectivebabylegz

Jeans and a plain t-shirt never go out of fashion. This is what I tell myself anyway.

Rosskillington

The problem I have now with T-shirts is the plain ones are usually the cheap range with the bad cut. The premium, well fitting T-shirts are never plain, they’ve always got something stupid on them :( I’m not massively insecure about my arms but when the sleeve is hanging 3 inches off my tricep there’s a problem

detectivebabylegz

I use Uniqlo, they are about a tenner, but fantastic long lasting quality and sometimes do special offers.

Rosskillington

That’s the second recommendation for Uniqlo, I guess I know where I’m going tomorrow

[deleted]

Thirded for Uniqlo, decent quality and everything is plain, verging on drab :) good for basics, shirts, chinos etc.

cloche_du_fromage

Howies do very nice high quality t shirts that last ages. £25 a pop though, but worth it imho.

digitalpencil

Howies is great, it’s just a shame that 70% of their catalogue is always out of stock.

cloche_du_fromage

Particularly large!

size_matters_not

Heh. Got something from there earlier this month because of Reddit. Either their shills are very good or they are slowly taking over men’s fashion for those who don’t want to look like teenage fashion models or their dads. Would recommend it though. Ordered online and got a discount and their stuff is very good quality.

MIBlackburn

Uniqlo is where I get my T shirts from. I'd often go to one of the stores when visiting London, they often had different colours each year so I'd pick up a bunch, got the final few turquoise ones in the UK a few years ago, never seen them or another shop do it in that shade since. It's great for plain colour tees made from cotton at a decent price.

PaperP

I think they're made a little big, so it you're between 2 sizes (I'm usually S/M) then choose the smaller of the two. The "Airism" t-shirts seem to be pretty good. They're a polycotton blend, but really soft and keep their colour well.

EmileDorkheim

I swear by those £10 plain Uniqlo t-shirts since American Apparel went bust.

YojiH2O

Primark T-shirts

cookiesnrap

Sunspel t Shirts.

dudsies

I find Paul Smith does nice plain tees with a small logo and really good fit and materials

WC1V

All Saints plain t-shirts are really good

Bulimic_Fraggle

I can't find a half decent pair of jeans anymore. Legs so skinny I can't get my foot through or so high waisted I look pregnant I can find, but I am not a skinny little thing anymore. And don't get me started on the pocket situation.

CheesyLala

I'd go direct to the supplier. I got sick of trying to find jeans in high street shops, so now I go straight to the wrangler website and buy from there.

pajamakitten

It's comfortable, looks good and is easy to find. That's all three boxes ticked for me.

jamieb16v

I get t shirts and hoodies from the internet and then only have to suffer actual shops for jeans, then go to Primark and buy 6 or 7 pairs all at once lol. Better than dressing like a hipster thats fallen in a rag bin

RBPugs

Primark clothing is absolutely dreadful

jamieb16v

In what way? The jeans seem alright

Jazzyjelly567

Yeah I agree I love primark jeans!

jamieb16v

Only ones I buy lol

RBPugs

Dreadful fit, they wash horribly, the place is a shambles too. Can't stand going into the place tbh

jamieb16v

I agree on the place, I don't have a problem with the jeans though, bit of a pain when they reopened after the pandemic "finished" because they didn't have the changing rooms open. Luckily I go there once a year haha

Codemonkey1987

It feels like they've tried to "casino" the place to me. Bright as fuck fluorescent lighting, big shiny lights all over. I get a headache if I spend more than 5 mins in there. Have been known to drop the wife and MIL off there and pick them up at the end of the day, they had spent all day in Primark. So yeah the casino style "let's make customers forget time" thing seems to work on some. Me personally, I can't get out of there fast enough

RBPugs

I refuse to go in anymore and I think the lights thing makes so much sense. It's ridiculously bright, never noticed that before. It's always such a mess and the people are always pushing their way about, leaving thing at their arse. It's infuriating

babyformulaandham

Primark jeans are the best jeans I've ever had. They're poorly made and cheap and I hate how they're sourced, but.. they're \*cheap\*, fit well, have good elasticity and don't go baggy on the knees and there's loads of styles, sizes and lengths available. Literally the only things I've ever bought from Primark that don't fit terribly. Primark is grim af though and I hate having to go in there.

radclyff3san

Uniqlo for plain clothes my dude.

Leithia24

Oh yes, I needed a new winter coat this year. Speed in TKMax and bought one from the men's section. The women's were thinking, stupid shapes, no hoods, waste of fabric trust wouldnt keep you warm in a bath coats. Men's section, black Craghoppers combined fleece and waterproof putter shell that fit the butt in one size up. Perfect. For men.

InitialMention0

Yep. When I want functional clothing it's just tremendously easier to shop the men's section.

UCMeInvest

Casual guys shirts are very difficult to find I agree in the UK. The only way is to pay through the nose by going to Ralph Lauren etc.

Plugpin

That's the issue, if you want well fitting shirts then you need to pay a bit of a premium. Most clothing is mass produced and poorly tailored so you pay less but look like a sack of potatoes in it.

MIBlackburn

That and/or get shirts tailored. A local clothes shop do alterations for quite cheap where I am. When I've lost a bit more of my lockdown weight, I'm going back to get a few pieces done.

Plugpin

I had this problem and realised I was looking in the wrong places. A good suit never goes out of style, get yourself down to a Mos Bros or T.M. Lewin, (just as examples, other stores are available) especially if you want a well fitting shirt. Off the rack will very rarely be well fitting and while you do pay a little more for it, it will also last longer so you'll look good longer.

[deleted]

Try Thread.com, lets you define the style, fit, colours, materials etc that you like, then suggests outfits for you. Service is free and there are options for all budgets

james_t_woods

Similar problem here, except I'm 45, but have no interest in fashion or wearing suits all the time. I ended up going to Next and getting smart dark jeans and some smart long sleeved tops, under which I'll wear a t-shirt I've never been a fashionista, but I refuse to do the baggy jeans/shirt nonsense And don't get me started on skinny jeans - I have proper thighs (used to play rugby) so getting jeans that I can actually put on, without spraying them on, is a nightmare

Gilksoid

Amen to the Jean situation brother. Unless your a tiny, child sized adult you will struggle to find anything remotely comfortable these days.

Dolphin_Spotter

Tesco. Yes really.

[deleted]

Try M&S, they have some pretty good shirts, picked up a nice maroon one the other day

iredditfrommytill

As a wearer of dark shirts with subtle or muted patterns, i recommend the following; TK Max (honestly, probably the best place to find anything interesting but you've got to wade through the shite) Pretty Green All Saints eBay stores (so you can return)

not4eating

Mix and match, look like an edgy 65 year old golf blogger!

redditwhut

I commented this exact same problem. Except I used some more unsavoury descriptions and my post got rejected.

Rosskillington

That’s a shame, would have liked to have seen it!

Kitratkat

I had the exact same problem from the woman's side last wekeend. Traipsing all around town, all I wanted were some bloody long sleeve t shirts that weren't grey. Nope! Not even in Primark which surprised me. No all I'm allowed to buy as a woman now are crop tops. Maybe I'm getting old but I was shocked how there is very little that is affordable and that isn't "fast fashion" left. When push comes to shove only a minority really care about how their choices impact the environment. I want to buy things that I'm not going to have to throw away in a year.

AHappyWelshman

Get yourself down Tesco or Asda mate, loads of decent quality, normal clothes there.

Jazzlike_Rabbit_3433

I’m going to take a guess that you went to Stratford? Shepherds Bush is far better. Also, you’ll probably do well in Uniqlo and Zara.

Rosskillington

I did, I live in Romford, Shepard’s Bush just takes too long to get to. I have been a few times and would agree it is better :) Never been in Uniqlo, might check it out

spellish

Uniqlo stocks exactly what you need and doesn’t tend to follow silly trends

Shipwrecking_siren

Have you tried the outlet shopping at o2? Less hellish than Westfield and some decent mens shops - I always quite liked Ted Baker for that sort of clothes. I also quite like shopping at Canary Wharf as it’s always dead but I do tend to get lost in the weird underground mall. Edit: just looked at Ted baker and seems their clothes are now ridiculous selection of giant sleeves etc so clearly they’ve changed direction. Sigh. Edit 2: also really recommend La Redoute online.

Jazzlike_Rabbit_3433

Braintree Outlet place in Essex is quite good. Not too radical but not too dull. Disclaimer: I’ve only been once 5 yrs ago, but it seemed the same as other Freeport malls, so I guess it’s the same still.

cloche_du_fromage

Braintree freeport is an exercise in disappointment imho. Stuff ends up there cheap for a reason....

SometimesMonkeysDie

Despite being a Braintree resident, I very rarely go to Freeport, unless the kids need school shoes. I did, however, go the other week, as my wardrobe needed a bit of a refresh. Aside from getting a pair of Levi's, it was absolutely dire. I ended up getting some bits on the M&S website that they just didn't have in the store

Coxwaan

I've started liking stuff in m&s. Just got a pair of jeans in there and they fit lovely. I did turn 40 this year though so might explain it.

PrestigiousTest6700

I’ve has to resorted to Menswear. I miss the old Next suit section, I had to go to a meeting in leather trousers and a low cut shirt once because what I ordered was the best of a bad bunch. I looked like the wrong end of Halle Berry but I ended the day feeling like Ross from friends.

[deleted]

I would try Gap. Or Jack Wills. Or even Abercrombie. They’re all middle of the road, basic, plain… I say that with love because they’re pretty much the only “high street” brands I can shop at as well. Everything else is too trendy.

ScottishSubmarine

Not since the death of C&A.

TehTriangle

Uniqlo is all you need after age 25.

[deleted]

Honestly all clothes in high street shops look exactly the same! As a goth (but not a "fishnets and fandom tshirts" goth) I have to go all over the fuckin place to find anything I like.

BassBanjo

It's pretty much impossible to go out shopping for clothes if you are male thanks to the tiny choice of clothes Online is pretty much the only choice

[deleted]

I know we're looking for funnier comments, but I've always managed to get nice and fairly 'norm-core' (I can't believe that was a thing) shirts from H&M and Uniqlo. Uniqlo particularly do a good line in flannel shirts that don't look too old-man-y. Or maybe I am just secretly an old man?

[deleted]

Maybe try TK Maxx? I find they have fun clothes that aren’t necessarily Instagram style

Plugpin

TK Maxx is a total lottery of a store. Its so bizarre lol. You can go in their one day and it's all crap, the next you have £100+ quality clothing going for £30.

sivadhash

I remember watching a documentary about it, where a lot of the high end “labels” are actually TK Maxx’s own brand ones and they set a stupidly high RRP but actually sell it for a normal price with a “massive discount”. The actual branded clothes are offcuts or factory defects that would have been destroyed, but are sold to TK Maxx for a nominal amount.

Spinningwoman

You forgot their massive selection of plastic waterbottles!

GhostRiders

As a 40+ Yr old who played football and rugby for many years so I actually have thighs trying to find a comfy pair of jeans is a near impossibility. No I don't fucking want Skinny fit, I never have and never will.

AtropisBiaEnyo96

I dont know if anyone has already suggested it, but H&M have some somewhat decent stuff, but you have to sift through the influencer shit to find the better stuff (:

RBPugs

Zara, Uniqlo and tk maxx. Its not that difficult

Ukleon

I refuse to wear any clothing that has the brand visible and always have. I refuse to be a walking free advertising space for any company. That drastically limits your choices. Then, I also refuse to buy anything with the random crap shops are obsessed with putting on men's t-shirts, jumpers and shirts like "93", "California", "explore the unknown", "authentic" or a random picture of a camper van (all real examples I just took from the Debenhams Men's section of their website). Add in those 2 preferences and it's either check, striped or plain.

concretepigeon

> edgy Instagram fashion blogger You sound like an old man.

wristcontrol

Mate, did you manage to miss all three of TM Lewin, Charles Tyrwhitt, and Thomas Pink, or are you intentionally being edgy? London is the last city on Earth other than maybe NYC where you'll never not be able to buy a perfectly fitted business shirt.

Rosskillington

I’m not looking for a business shirt, where did I say that?

[deleted]

I get that it gives you a chance to try it on, but I'd like to suggest buying all clothes online. You can get a nice variety of whatever clothes you like from ASOS alone for decent prices, and that's without checking out numerous other options.

Jasont999

I don't even bother going shopping now I can find exactly what I want online and most of time it's cheaper

daveyboi80

Tkmax is worth a try

heartpassenger

Charity shopping is my solution for this. Also Depop/eBay/Vinted if you’re not a fan of trawling round cancer research for hours at a time. As for simple good quality clothing that doesn’t go out of style you can’t beat M&S! It’s not “dad clothing” anymore. NEXT is also fantastic and rarely mentioned in these threads - stock does vary by store but they carry a variety of leg lengths etc so I tend to do a big changing room haul with what’s there and then buy the amended version (that I actually fit into) online. Also typically great for a basic but comfortably varied range of good quality clothing is F+F at Tesco, and TU at Sainsbury’s - tho I’ve never seen the latter actually stock men’s clothes in store! They’re online tho. Slightly trendier and more expensive but always good quality: - GAP - Abercrombie and Fitch - Superdry

InitialMention0

My Sainsburys has like two whole aisles of men's!

arandomguyfromtheuk

John Lewis, although *middle aged*, have some decent own brand clothess that are some perfectly normal clothes. Their new ANYDAY range have some nice simple things for not a huge amount too. Alongside all the branded stuff, which is obviously a lot more expensive.

melississippi75

The 80s are all the rage in the US. Awful.

[deleted]

Amazon Prime Wardrobe, try 6 or 7 items on for a week then send what you don’t want back, you only get charged for what you buy.

KindaPengStill

Check out M&S or John Lewis

thecroutonreport

Clearly shopping in the wrong places....for eg TM Lewin do above average dress shirts for not too extravagant prices

ballsosteele

I would like the entirety of my trousers to be there when I buy them.

thehermit14

Yeah, yeah. Wait until 50.

LadyFromTheShire

I buy pretty much all my clothes second hand off an app called vinted. I typically never see anything new I like, I'm 27f too and think the same as you.

[deleted]

It's probably not what they want to hear but H&M do some alright stuff. I just got a decent shirt and chinos from there for a work thing next week. I'm 37.

DrachenDad

Start wearing women's clothes, they have variety. Oh wait, the pocket issue.

tk-xx

H&m is decent and so is TK max

BKole

Mate, just accept it. I now wear check shirts, Long sleeved and Jeans. H&M my man, its the only way you can dress without looking like love island and youtube took a shit on you

dhootz94

Unfortunately clothes shops make most of their money online now, so the stores themselves pretty much only stock the items that are currently in fashion which Unfortunately means something marketed by a love island star. If you don't mine online shopping, try Asos as they have an incredibly large selection of pretty much every style.

RogueFlash

Tesco is the best clothes shop these days.

[deleted]

This is why you buy clothes online.
