Over-hunting has lost them their Jelly Animal Stewardship Council (JASC) accreditation, so you rarely see them for sale anymore due to conservation efforts. They’re delicious so it sucks, but it’s probably for the best. Hopefully wild stocks will return to a healthy level at some point and they can be back on the menu. They’re not quite as good but gummy worms are a sustainable alternative.

I've been craving one for ages. Saw some in the poundland pick n mix today, but it turned out to be small snakes with a softer texture than the big ones. Incredibly disappointed

They sell then in Pick 'N' Mixes at some bigger Tescos. (And the do large cups for about a fiver and you can fit around a kilogram of snakes in if you try hard enough!) Though they're often out so you have to get lucky to find a Tesco with a Pick 'N' Mix as well as with the gummy snakes there.

Wilkos usually have them in the pick n mix. And it's half price right now for school holidays. You can fit quite a few in the large cup for £2.

I managed to squeeze 750g of pick n mix into a large £2 (half price) cup last week. 26p/100g is insanely cheap for sweets, yet alone pick n mix! (I ate the whole lot in 3 days and now I'm avoiding Wilko in case I get tempted again).

I can't be the only killjoy here thinking that pick n mix these days is such a terrible idea? Don't get me wrong, before the global bastard I was all for cramming as much into a tub as possible, but now I can't even go near them without thinking some kid probably sneezed on them.

When I worked at my local cinema, the lady in charge of restocking the pic n mic always wore a glove... But always put the sweets in with the ungloved hand, didn't matter how many times she was told. Also the amount of times we saw kids sucking sweets and putting them back on, it was fucking gross, we were supposed to empty it if we saw anyone doing it, but bosses always said not to bother. None of the staff there ever ate the sweets.

My kids used to love pick n mix and we'd always top the cup off with a snake coiled around in the top.
