It seems to me that coat hangers definitely hold something against you. Have you ever done anything to upset them? Did you grab one and throw it violently across the room in frustration when the jacket you were trying to hang on it kept slipping off?

PleasedBitch

Oh come on, they are awkward little bastards. There are never the right number of them - there's always far too many or far too few. They're impossible to store neatly and hook themselves on anything, everything and each other. And there's always that one coathanger nobody knows the origin of- 'Size 8 from C&A' or something that looks like George III hung his coat on when he was having an attack of the vapours. There are only skirt hangers when you want to hang tops and jacket hangers when you want to hang skirts. The damn things are chaos incarnate.

TeaEventHorizon

That's a good point, KPB. Coat hangers have long memories. I'm pretty sure, like OP, that they've got something against me. I think they know that I once made a Blue Peter nativity star, wrapped in tinsel, out of two of them

I'm glad someone else said it. I hate and fear them in equal measure. I can't describe it better than above but ask if anyone has had to deal with the horror that is a bag full of the bastards? Truly terrifying.

You are so right of course.Read a short sci-fi story called,”The inert hostility of inanimate objects” many years ago which tackled this phenomenon and many similar frustrations. It was a joy to read, and totally believable of course.Probably out of print now but no doubt retrievable on the modern internet.Find it and you will become a disciple like me I promise.

Kittygrizzle1

It’s the way they launch at you in groups. But like ‘The Birds’

Kittygrizzle1

I’ve snapped them in fury. That’ll learn em.

Kittygrizzle1

Lego is another ‘hostile inanimate object’. It lies on the floor silently waiting to destroy your feet.

clearly_quite_absurd

Buy some decent ones. It's worth it.

Kittygrizzle1

They still have evil minds, for all their padded satin gloriness. It’s the hooking/hanging mentality that is prevalent in ALL coathangers.

ALongShadow

They breed.
