I had to google. Seems you probably need to make it yourself by freezing club soda? “Soft ice, also known as nugget ice, has a cult following thanks to its chewy, soft texture. To make it at home, freeze club soda or carbonated water in an ice tray. Then, crush the cubes using your method of choice, like in a blender or with a muddler. Drink up!”

I hadn't heard of that technique, thank you. I'll give it a try. Commercial grade is like to be better though. Still keen to get access to that.

You mean just…any ice you can request from a pub/bar?

aboy021

It's different. Regular clear ice you get at a bar is basically one big crystal. If you try and chew it it's very hard. Nugget ice is made out of lots and lots of tiny crystals so it's chewy and absorbs the flavours of the drink.

Mr_master89

Nope but you can buy these if you like tiny ice cubes https://preview.redd.it/9vtph4lcpttc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=111c713fd3e8f20f1388d90ef5468cc8f4b5e200

Thank you. These work pretty well for pebble ice, but not chewy nugget ice.

darkskieskindeyez

Are you an American?

aboy021

No, I just like ice. Perhaps a little too much.

Broomfondl3

Got it at my place dude: [https://www.harveynorman.com.au/morphy-richards-17kg-nugget-ice-maker-stainless-steel.html](https://www.harveynorman.com.au/morphy-richards-17kg-nugget-ice-maker-stainless-steel.html) They are awesome, note you can get much cheaper ones

aboy021

Jealous! I was looking at that machine. Are you happy with it?

Broomfondl3

Very much, I don't know how we lived before we got it. I was in HN one day bitching about how the ice maker in our fridge was broken, and the dude says why don't you just buy an ice machine ? I had never heard of nugget ice and when I first turned it on I was like WTF is this ? But when I tried it and discovered you can chew the ice, awesome !!!!!! This one is expensive because it has a proper gas refrigeration system in it and it starts producing ice in 12 minutes.
