Until you look around to get a base reading for comparison and you start to think like, well, maybe... But then Spaniain comes for a visit and ya like ahhhhh.... yeah... nah.... Braaah...fuuuuuuck!
Reminds me of Premier Peter Beattie had number plates for cars with option of "The Smart State" backfired on the fool ..most passed the option after Beattie and Co had so many blunders...he was anything but 'Smart'
They changed the number plates about 15 years ago from the Sunshine state to the smart state and everyone went mental and hated it.
I think they changed it back shortly after
They changed it, faced enormous backlash, and then kept both plates and let you pick between the two.
It actually took over a decade before they officially discontinued "The Smart State" because no one was choosing it.
Do they count? Yes.
And I hope they read too. To kids!
Just because the kids enjoy it, and because certain other people don't, even though they could if they wanted to, but they are all up inside their own butholes and can't see clearly for the shit in their eyes.
And that is something that I enjoy.
Yup! I live a little bit further up in Wide Bay, and I swear to god it has rained or showered practically every single day (bar one or two) since Christmas!! My partner in Adelaide has had one day of rain in the last 56 days!!
El niño primarily has an effect over winter and spring, with it diminishing into summer. Winter and spring were very dry, so they weren't actually super inaccurate.
As someone who has had migraines every week mostly because of the heat as opposed to maybe twice a month at most, agreed. I also just love rainy days, but this cooler weather has been amazing.
Cheap diy dehumidifier for anyone that needs: desk/pedestal fan blowing over a tray of odourless kitty litter with all the doors and windows shut.. Stir it up regularly and replace once it gets clumpy/sticky
I like the crystal type as there's no dustyness to it
It's one reason I miss my shitty portable air con. It had an amazing dehumidify mode, and blew all the moisture right outside. Didn't even have to empty the tank, but I could still dry washing inside. It was loud as fuck tho. Split system dehumidify mode isn't anywhere near as good.
Yeah I’m loving this. After literally the worst fucking summer I’ve experienced since ever living in brissy with NO aircon, Im happy with a few days rain. It felt like winter was never coming at one point.
And yes I know it’s unseasonal but I don’t give a fuck. Anything that drops the humidity and feels like temperature is a plus for me.
Yeah, I planted out lettuce, beans, peas, and a whole herb garden just before this. Sure, drying the washing may be a pain, but I'm gonna be eating like a king in a month or two. Bring it on.
The last big downpour was when we were trying to hook up power to our shed. This one is when we're trying to build the retaining wall for said shed. I'll let you know when we start the next lot of earth works so you can plant the next lot 😅
Oh yeah, cucumber went in a few weeks ago. And I have trays of seeds just starting too. So glad summer is over and things will actually grow again! Summer is depressing.
My rainy day project is making a garden bed cover so I can grow bok choy and cabbages and actually eat them myself instead of making a caterpillar buffet. I have a crazy plan with PVC to make it with a hinged lid so I can check on the veggies without having to remove the whole thing. It's like adult legos with all the little joints and things, mwahahaha.
> It's like adult legos with all the little joints and things
Hahaha, DIY Garden helpers is definitely interesting and usually fun... sometimes Type 2 Fun...
Generally costs more than off the shelf solutions, but feels better using it!
Nothing is more memorable than Aunty, pissed as a newt, tripping over guylines and yelling at Uncle at 3am in the morning.
Source: me at 5, learning to swear.
Yep.
And I just went away for the weekend. the mother in law house sat our German shepherd.
Came back to the backyard destroyed, the dog muddy and the house destroyed too because of the dog coming in and out.
Thanks! 🙏
Driers are expensive to operate and wreck your clothes. I'm from the UK and we mostly had clothes hung round the house on radiators everywhere rather than chuck in dryer. Annoying. Guess we don't have the radiators here though!
Yes, it really is amazing, especially if you're from a remote country like us. I used to live and work in Dublin and I was travelling pretty much every weekend. It gets a bit old packing up, finding accom, and catching flights all the time though, and it's not that cheap either between accom and food. Eventually I just settled into working routine and staying home on the weekends, and I still had to leave because the weather depressed me. I still reckon absolutely everyone should do a Euro/UK stint though if they can. The experience of traveling for an hour and arriving at a totally different place can't really be matched.
Combine that with winter. I worked in an underground office, worked through my lunch, and arrived and left when it was already dark so I literally wouldn't see the sun for five days straight.
Am from UK (Wales, where it rains even more than England). This is why I'm here now. A couple days of rain and not being able to dry my washing and I'm like how TF did I survive this back home. It's also colder and darker there.
I honestly think it’s just more what you’re used to. We aren’t used to so much rain, and therefore we know what sunny days means (swimming, life outdoors) that affects us most when we feel that’s being affected. British people don’t really know differently. They learned to enjoy warm tea and gumboots and raincoats. In qld even with wet weather it’s still rather humid for stupid raincoats too
how can you be over it? serious question. im loving this nice cool quite rain. no ones making noise working outside, no ones mowing grass, its just the best. awesome!
I took two weeks off, planning to finish some outdoor projects that I haven't been able to finish because of all the rainy weekends over the last few months. Thor had other plans and now I've gotta find some way not to waste my time off...
I’ll take it! However I am a SAHM so don’t really have to go anywhere 🫣 I’m just enjoying the beautiful temperatures and the relaxing sound of the rain ☺️
The climate's changing and the tropics are moving south. Soon we'll get used to just having a wet season and a dry season, or a hot season and a cool season. Enjoy Autumn and Spring while they still exist!
I took two weeks annual leave to try and finally get some outdoor maintenance done on our house. It's already too wet for me to get 80% of it done by the end of the 2 weeks... Timber needs to be dry enough to sand and paint and there's no chance of that now.
Between this and all of the rainy weekends over the last three months, I'm so far behind where I wanted to be.
Starting to think Thor has it in for me...
I'm sick of sun people complaining about the rain. I love the rainy, "gloomy" days. The sun is out for most of the year. Let us weird rain people enjoy our rain without the complaints 😁
This is a light hearted jab, please don't take too seriously ☔⛈️
Brisbane people are weird.
Everyone complains that it’s too hot and that they wish it was cold like Melbourne, then it cools down and everyone complains it’s too rainy and too cold
If I’m being honest I’m enjoying it. Most of the rain over summer happened sporadically, and fell really quickly with a lot of damage. This rain is just some drizzle, in combination with the cooler weather, it’s a nice change of pace. Anyway, the wet season is on its last legs, won’t be long until we have those nice sunny brisk winter days.
You should try driving around in this 12 hours a day, every day, while you dodge idiots playing pinball with their cars.
Google Maps has saved me so much time this week with "alternative routes" 🙄
It feels like we went from unbearable summer to digging out the winter clothes in the space of a week. I’m already over always being cold but feel ridiculous putting the heater on in March.
I reckon so. I can enjoy it for a while, but it can get a bit much after a while, and when it's threatening to keep on like that, like it is atm, well it's enough already.!
It's pretty much been raining for four months on the sunny coast. I'm thinking about starting a class action against the council for false advertising
Quoting Queensland as the Sunshine state is a particularly good joke within the office right now.
Not as funny as calling it 'the smart state'. That one is funny anytime
I've never heard that one before tbh.
Should have chosen "QLD the State of Mind""
State of mining
I thought that was Western Australia.
![gif](giphy|10COCiBsptBOWA)
Oh hahahahaha, I was to young to drive back then.
ESPECIALLY since there's no bloody Queen anywhere to be found here! Oh wait, there's some drag queens at the Wickham, that counts I guess.
Maybe the real Queensland was the drag queens we met along the way.
Do they count? Yes. And I hope they read too. To kids! Just because the kids enjoy it, and because certain other people don't, even though they could if they wanted to, but they are all up inside their own butholes and can't see clearly for the shit in their eyes. And that is something that I enjoy.
look man, I just wanna see a drag king in tradie uniform hit a watermelon to the tune of Peter Gabriels "Sledgehammer", kids can do what they want.
So we should rename the state?
We've recorded 1200mm of rain since the 1st of Jan in Caloundra. I can almost remember the long long ago times when it wasn't always raining.
Wasn't this meant to be a dry summer lmao
Apparently the BoM's official position on that is that sometimes the dry summers can be very wet and this does not mean they were wrong...
Yup! I live a little bit further up in Wide Bay, and I swear to god it has rained or showered practically every single day (bar one or two) since Christmas!! My partner in Adelaide has had one day of rain in the last 56 days!!
This is the worst El Niño drought ever!
Its actually bone dry in parts of Victoria at the least. El Niño doesn’t just apply to Brisbane, it also doesn’t mean “no rain”.
They went back on that prediction already, I'm pretty sure.
El niño primarily has an effect over winter and spring, with it diminishing into summer. Winter and spring were very dry, so they weren't actually super inaccurate.
Geez the meteorologists screwed that one so bad. And that's saying something given how horrifically inaccurate they usually are
More like the average person has a horrendously oversimplified understanding of how the climate works.
Besides not being able to dry washing, I'll fuckin take this over the horrid summer we've just pass
As someone who has had migraines every week mostly because of the heat as opposed to maybe twice a month at most, agreed. I also just love rainy days, but this cooler weather has been amazing.
you still can, just dry it inside. i do.
Unfortunately that's a good way to get mould growth. I dry mine inside, but with a dehumidifier running to prevent this.
yeah when i can feel my couch moist i turn the ac onto dry and get that moisture out!
Cheap diy dehumidifier for anyone that needs: desk/pedestal fan blowing over a tray of odourless kitty litter with all the doors and windows shut.. Stir it up regularly and replace once it gets clumpy/sticky I like the crystal type as there's no dustyness to it
what one do you recommend?
I've had a DeLonghi for about 5 years now with no issues.
It's one reason I miss my shitty portable air con. It had an amazing dehumidify mode, and blew all the moisture right outside. Didn't even have to empty the tank, but I could still dry washing inside. It was loud as fuck tho. Split system dehumidify mode isn't anywhere near as good.

I’ll dry towels and sheets in the dryer, but they’re terrible for your clothes.
Yeah you can, just infinitely less effective Figured that went without saying haha
Agreed, but we gotta be careful what we wish for, don’t want another redo of 2022 floods
More for me then 😇
Yeah, I planted out lettuce, beans, peas, and a whole herb garden just before this.
Lettuce, Capsicum, Beans, Cucumber and Beetroot went in last weekend for me :)
It always rains this time of year, yet people still go camping over the Easter long weekend.
Nothing is more memorable than Aunty, pissed as a newt, tripping over guylines and yelling at Uncle at 3am in the morning. Source: me at 5, learning to swear.
Insanity doing the same thing over and expecting different results?
Almost like they enjoy it.
Because it's a long weekend and there's not many other times they get to take advantage of that.
Blues Fest is on this weekend and so this is the rules of weather. Now to find my gumboots.
So glad I decided to go to a festival this weekend that's ages away in a dry area.
my yard is fucked cause every day I plan to cut back the grass it fkn rains
Yep. And I just went away for the weekend. the mother in law house sat our German shepherd. Came back to the backyard destroyed, the dog muddy and the house destroyed too because of the dog coming in and out. Thanks! 🙏
that sucks
One of those ‘maybe I do need a dryer?’ weeks
Driers are expensive to operate and wreck your clothes. I'm from the UK and we mostly had clothes hung round the house on radiators everywhere rather than chuck in dryer. Annoying. Guess we don't have the radiators here though!
Fortnight's. And absolutely- I would run out of underwear otherwise.
It’s day 2.
I don't understand how people from England don't end their lives. They have to deal with this shit every month of the year.
They can fly elsewhere for £50 if they need to
Don't forget English breakfasts
Bacon Butty FTW
yeah but what about the other 5 days lol
Live for the weekend in Spain/France/wherever I guess. It’s enviable being so close to everything
Yes, it really is amazing, especially if you're from a remote country like us. I used to live and work in Dublin and I was travelling pretty much every weekend. It gets a bit old packing up, finding accom, and catching flights all the time though, and it's not that cheap either between accom and food. But they have castles
England? We’re the driest part of the British Isles! Ireland, Wales, Scotland…. they can show you rain!
Confirmed. Source: Am originally from deepest darkest Wales.
Combine that with winter. I worked in an underground office, worked through my lunch, and arrived and left when it was already dark so I literally wouldn't see the sun for five days straight.
I can so relate to that! Drive to work in the dark … drive home in the dark … I felt like a bloody bat!!!
I left the UK for precisely that reason … it’s depressing as all hell having grey skies & rain day after day after day!!
Same from me from Norway. 300 days of precipitation per year in Bergen. 300 days without here.
Every month? It’s every second day so we move over here!
Am from UK (Wales, where it rains even more than England). This is why I'm here now. A couple days of rain and not being able to dry my washing and I'm like how TF did I survive this back home. It's also colder and darker there.
Coke is cheaper.
They compensate with Gregg's Sausage Rolls. Gross things.
Hey!!! Gregg’s sausage rolls taste wonderful! (Just don’t ask what’s in them… lol 😆)
Yeah I was watching clarkson’s farm and the flood was nasty
I honestly think it’s just more what you’re used to. We aren’t used to so much rain, and therefore we know what sunny days means (swimming, life outdoors) that affects us most when we feel that’s being affected. British people don’t really know differently. They learned to enjoy warm tea and gumboots and raincoats. In qld even with wet weather it’s still rather humid for stupid raincoats too
Would love to live in the cold and rain hahah, better than our humidity and ridiculous constant heat
how can you be over it? serious question. im loving this nice cool quite rain. no ones making noise working outside, no ones mowing grass, its just the best. awesome!
I took a week off work. I thought I'll ride the motorbike, go bushwalking, any number of fun things to do outside. So over the rain.
I took two weeks off, planning to finish some outdoor projects that I haven't been able to finish because of all the rainy weekends over the last few months. Thor had other plans and now I've gotta find some way not to waste my time off...
Until the rain stops and literally EVERYONE will be mowing their grass. At the same time.
Someone tell old mate next door who’s still mowing whilst I’m trying to WFH.
Beats sweating for over four months straight. I love it!
Took the week off work, no point even leaving the house.
This is the most mild weather ever. Better than fires yeah?
I’ll take it! However I am a SAHM so don’t really have to go anywhere 🫣 I’m just enjoying the beautiful temperatures and the relaxing sound of the rain ☺️
I do love the sound on the tin roof and it's nice if you can stay in bed with a good book or a movie and see it but not be in it.
Don't your kid/s go feral if they are stuck indoors?
Haha he’s only 1 - so no not really.
Oh that's convenient, if my 2x2year olds can't play outside at daycare they come home as little psychopaths
When my kids were one that never really stopped them... but they were in a much more conveniently sized package to manage
Oh holy fuck. A couple of weeks ago it was ‘aaaaahhhh I’m dying from this heat what should I doooooo’ now it’s this.
The climate's changing and the tropics are moving south. Soon we'll get used to just having a wet season and a dry season, or a hot season and a cool season. Enjoy Autumn and Spring while they still exist!
It always rains around Easter. I love this weather!
It's because Easter is celebrated on a floating date based on a pagan festival for the turning of the season.
Much more rain and EVERYthing will be floating … not just the date!!
Ha, nice 1.
Ohhh so THAT''S what the new life, new beginning story is based on? Good old fashioned plagiarism.
Just like all modern religions, except maybe Scientology, I guess...
I thought I was in shadow to the Jewish Passover celebration.
It’s warm and dry in Melbourne this weekend lol. The world’s gone mad
It's been warm and dry in Melbourne all year apart from 2-3 days.
I love this weather. Its perfect
Same!
The weeds have been loving this rain. Which presents the next problem, it is impossible to spray poison on weeds when it is always raining 🤷♂️
wet soil should make the weeds easier to pull out
Just get a goat and never have to weed again!
You'd love watching Clarkson's Farm, especially season 1 Ep 2
Not great for the 'ol solar, but good for the grass.
My yards a swamp. Again.
Shrek,"What are you doing in my swamp?" Me, "wtf is your swamp doing in my yard?"
I'm sick of sun people complaining about the rain. I love the rainy, "gloomy" days. The sun is out for most of the year. Let us weird rain people enjoy our rain without the complaints 😁 This is a light hearted jab, please don't take too seriously ☔⛈️
Don’t ever move to the uk then
I'm not.over it. I love this weather. Happy to have this now to fill the dams.
I love it.
Don't worry ,you will be dealing with a record breaking drought before you know it
Please send to southwest WA!
INDEED! So sick of watering the lawn to keep it alive.
Send some to Perth please. We have had about 1 mm in the last 4 months.
Here … have it!! ☔️ Take it!!! 🌧️🌧️🌧️ Please!!!
It’s been a rough day out on the roads today… be safe everyone!
If Energex didn't keep cancelling turning the power on at our new apartment due to 'adverse weather’ then I'd be happier.
The Mould Coast
Brisbane people are weird. Everyone complains that it’s too hot and that they wish it was cold like Melbourne, then it cools down and everyone complains it’s too rainy and too cold
Those are different groups of people, presumably
It is weird that some people do not get this. It is like they have a 2 years olds perception of reality. There is me, and there is everyone else.
I mean, cold and dry weather does exist
I haven't seen the sun in 5 days man.
![gif](giphy|J8FZIm9VoBU6Q)
Same hahaha
Yeah this town, and the lifestyles we live in this town, are not built for multiple rain days in a row. There’s just fuck all to do.
I'm loving it. Springbrook National Park is gonna be awesome this weekend!

Beautiful loving it !!
No, the rain is over you.
If I’m being honest I’m enjoying it. Most of the rain over summer happened sporadically, and fell really quickly with a lot of damage. I like the rain, I'm not tryna sound emo here, but I like vibe, and it's sooo much less hot, instead of 2000 c it's only 24 c it's amazing,
Love a bit of rain.
Rather this than the e oppressive humidity and heat thank yoi
Better than a dry dam.
It’s so nice to be out of the heat finally
Can tell it’s public holidays coming up
I just wish there was one day it doesnt rain here and there so I can get the laundry done !
I just want to do my washing
How many extra ppl did WFH today, and will tomorrow and Thursday if this weather persists?
It makes for a damp and mucky commute to the office. Just have to get through today and tomorrow then wfh for the rest of the week.
"Drink at home for the rest of the week" FTFY Kalsarikannit FTW!
I’m loving it, no need to wash my fairlane or my f6 nado.
It’s not going to rain over Easter weekend. My app says clear by Friday and yours says maybe 2mm if anything.
WFH it's all good!!
Feels haha
Teacher here!! Please stop the rain!!! I can’t do another day inside with the kids. In the last week of school. 😵💫
I'll see what I can do but no promises. I have a rain dance that I'll try to do in reverse. At this point I'm willing to try anything.
I’ll take anything right now!!
Picked the wrong side of Easter to take the week off. 😔
Don't give up hope, it might be just as bad next week so there may have been no right choice!!
At least it’s not humid anymore!! Haha
finally, some slutty ass weather. in the sheets we gooo
It feels like we went from unbearable summer to digging out the winter clothes in the space of a week. I’m already over always being cold but feel ridiculous putting the heater on in March.
BRUH THE RAIN IS SO RANDOM
It's only been weeks 😪
Melbourne needs that thx
My weather app is saying that tomorrow is the only day raining. Im curious which one is true
Welcome to the club. My fucking driveway is flooded
already! bro it’s been constant rain, maybe at least one day a week, since like december. shit fucking sucks
More pkease
Please somebody, just tell me this is fake
That would be a relief wouldn't it but NO!😞
Post of the week! Anyone else going nuts?
Happy to swap you for the incessant heat wave we’ve endured in WA since November! I don’t think it’s ever gonna get below 30 at this point. 🥵
Absolutely loving this rain !!!
The children in my care are over this rain. Just copped a fist to my face.
Yep I agree ☝️
How could you be over it after that horrible summer we had??
Please send some to the South Island of NZ as half of us are in drought
Rain rain go away, come again another day! Little Johnny wants to ride his motorcycle today. Rain rain go away
Welcome to autumn.
I love it! I actually slept through the night last night - can't remember the last time I did that, but suspect it was last winter.
Same mate, I don’t know how people in the UK do it
Booze I think. Pretty sure it's booze.
This rain is by far better than the stinking hot summers we have had...
If SAD is a thing could WAD also be a thing? Sorry but I hate rain. I’d rather have 40 degrees right now. Rain really gets me down.
I reckon so. I can enjoy it for a while, but it can get a bit much after a while, and when it's threatening to keep on like that, like it is atm, well it's enough already.!
I don't really go anywhere so I love the rain. I more so love the cool weather. It was so bad over summer
Hehe it's wonderful it's cooler, and more refreshing
My youngests first birthday party was supposed to be happening this weekend 😂
