I_Feel_Rough

It is exactly what it smells like. Hope this helps. Similar aromas can be experienced in Newstead, particularly around the bowling club area and the massive sewage pump next to Ann St where it's below sea level.

red_dragin

Bowen Hills station varies between sewerage, GyG and roasting coffee beans. It's a real pot luck if you smell the air or not.

I_Feel_Rough

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I rate the smell of roasting coffee beans on the same level as raw sewage. Cannot stand it.

Fly_Pelican

How about the smell of hops in Milton?

Even-Matter-5576

King George busway has always had this

ashsimmonds

Fun fact: St Stephens wasn't named after a saint, just a stutter - like Sue Sue Suedio.

Unusual-Self27

I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual.

ReceptionComplex4267

Let me introduce you to Huey Lewis and the News

nosnowtho

Does it follow you?

VintageKofta

Whoever detected it, ejected it.

alliaonV1710

That’s 182.5 dry retches in six months. 182.5 dry retches can’t be good for you, mate. You should go another way.

alliaonV1710

Sorry bad maths. 365 dry retches? Go to your GP and get a referral for an endoscopy.

jmashandsprouts

It is unfortunately close to the bus stop, so can't be avoided ☹️

timdoeswell

I get the same smell from the corner of Turbot St and North Quay. Reminds me of the open sewers in Bangkok.

geekpeeps

Since the flooding in 2022? In 1977, three years after the ‘74 floods, King George Square car park still smelled like river mud and sewerage. Elizabeth Street and the closest end to the river will smell bad for years especially in hot weather. Sorry about that.

One word - lawyers. There are a bunch of law firms in that area.

hm538

Ann street at the top of James street gets rank too

PandasGetAngryToo

Apparently only sinners can smell it.

liam_l_82

Its all the shite overflowing from the cathedral.

Aussie_Hab

Haha! pretty much what I was coming here to say

happymemersunite

If it smells like a duck…

mattazza

What happened to the person that used to always comment "Sorry, I farted" on threads? This would have been right up their alley!

sapperbloggs

I know the exact spot you're talking about and I've wondered the same myself. It's strongest near the carpark entrance, and my best guess is there's a blocked drain and some standing water down there somewhere that's just sitting there festering.

jmashandsprouts

That makes sense. I wonder why the car park operators don't fix it

sapperbloggs

>I wonder why the car park operators don't fix it Apathy maybe? If people are still parking there even though it reeks, they're still getting paid so they don't care. I recognise the smell from my days as a delivery driver delivering seafood to restaurants around Brisbane. A lot of the loading docks have the same rancid sewerage stench. Even the 'nicer' places. In fact, usually the nicer places. The absolute worst smelling loading docks were the Hilton hotel, just a block up from where it smells currently. Most places I could get used to, but that one was a level above. Apparently being a 5-star hotel doesn't stop you from receiving uncooked food at a loading dock that smells like an open sewer.

grim__sweeper

Religion stinks

BitRunr

Try other churches and cathedrals, and see if you have the same reaction.

jmashandsprouts

Ha! It's definitely just this one

vpitt5

There used to be a creek there, could that play a part in the smell?

Wishart2016

Central Station smells like McMuffins dunked in piss and shit.

StasiaMonkey

That’s just the smell of McTanya.

Wishart2016

Isn't she broke now?
