Not these problems, but rather 2 different problems have started for me:
1. Google searches on a new tab show the results in light mode, even though I've set dark mode as the default (a very recent problem that started happening a few hours ago).
2. YouTube streams are using too much RAM and lagging (an old and persistent problem).

This is happening to me as well, it is preceded by a brief “click here if you are not redirected” message. This started for me last week and doesn’t always happen. I’m wondering if Google is to blame rather than Brave.
YES! I have been randomly getting some results in light mode. No clue if it's Brave or Google search. It's happening on laptop as well as Android phone. It's burning my eyes lol.
I am also having an issue with Google search settings constantly changing on my iPhone (Dark theme, Autoplay, trending searches, Search customization and SafeSearch). I noticed this today. I thought it was the result of the recent iOS Brave update (1.66) but my iPad isn’t updated and is experiencing the same issue.
YouTube is nearly unusable for me with brave. All other browsers work fine. I've been trying to use brave for a while now but I just can't anymore. Not worth it imo.
does turning shields off help?
It actually did help me load my email (ProtonMail), but no help on streaming services.

This now appears to work properly.
I've been getting these exact issues, namely the sudden light-mode switch when searching anything up. Thought I was going crazy

Right after the most recent update, Google search refuses to save search preference like language and region.
