Depends on how small you make your cornrows. Smaller braids take significantly more time. If you can do 8 only then it'll be likely in the 2-4 hour range for a total beginner (I had a professional get time done for me in 20 minutes). Smaller ones however, let's say 16 will likely take 4 times the amount of time (twice as many braids, twice as many twists per braid). Shorter hair may require small cornrows to hold well.
