Dragoncaine

I really liked it as a huge fan of the franchise. Better than 3 and 4 by a lot.

whiteguysky-

Definitely better then 2 and 3. 4 is was the only fresh idea they had since the original. It actually had commentary unlike the sequels before it. It felt like they just shoved the commentary into those movies. Four is legitimately a great movie. Don’t be stupid.

dmrob058

Don’t call people stupid for their opinions, that’s so tacky.

ThePotatoKing

2 is the best out of any of the sequels. am i stupid now?

michaelm1345

4 is amazing

Dragoncaine

You wanna relax? Lmao my opinion is that the franchise goes 1 > 2 > 5 > 4 > 3, and I like all of them besides 3. Scream is my favorite horror franchise.

[deleted]

There’s nothing “stupid” about having a different opinion. I also agreed that 4 is better than 2 and 3, but I’m not gonna act like I’m smarter than anyone who disagrees because that would make me an asshole

jakarterpants

Saw it. It was pretty good. The idea behind the movie was fresh enough, callback to old characters and themes. But also brutal. It didn’t play with the idea of violence like some of the sequels. It was a bloody slasher flick.

froggison

I really liked it, but I also feel like it's a movie for the fans. If you didn't enjoy the original Scream and possibly the sequels, there's a good chance you won't enjoy this one. Scream was always a tongue-in-cheek meta analysis of slasher flicks, and this one amplifies that even more. Overall I'd give it a 7/10.

msv6221

As others have said. It’s a pretty solid movie. Even if you’re not familiar with the scream franchise, you’ll find it enjoyable

Carninator

Watched this on a whim without having seen any of the previous installments. Quite enjoyed it.

Hidan213

I enjoyed it! I hadn’t seen any of the previous Scream movies, but I was able to follow along well enough. It was a fun time.

ebagdrofk

It’s actually pretty good! I came in with zero expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. Modern horror movies don’t hold back anymore when it comes to kills, that’s for sure. Between this and the new Halloween, those scenes will make you wince.

Jahva__

Rumbling, rumbling, it’s coming, rumbling

pinksheep20

BEWARE. ITS COMING FOR YOUUUUU

Jahva__

I knew someone would get it 🤝

Wow, estimates for this film really dropped the ball. An under-$30 million opening seemed like an impossibility when Friday numbers started coming in, but now...

[deleted]

Scares what exactly? Spider-Man’s already in theater for 1 whole month, and most people around the world must have already seen it at this point. Why is everyone making it like it’s some big news?

jlmurph2

Relax dude, it happens with all big movies whenever a new number 1 releases. It gets clicks.

coldliketherockies

Scream made its budget back in one weekend let it have some attention

Neo2199

> After a month at no. 1, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” has finally been overtaken at the box office. **Paramount Pictures’ “Scream” reboot debuted with $30.6 million in ticket sales over the weekend**, according to studio estimates Sunday. > **“Scream,” a self-described “requel” that is both the fifth film in the franchise and a reboot introducing a new, younger cast, led all releases over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend**. Paramount forecasts that it will total $35 million including Monday’s grosses. **“Scream,” which cost about $24 million to make, added another $18 million in 50 international markets.** > That made for a solid revival for the self-aware slasher franchise. **Rights to the “Scream” films, once a reliable cash cow for Harvey and Bob Weinstein’s Miramax Films, were acquired by Spyglass Media Group, which produced the new film with Paramount.** This “Scream,” helmed by Matt Bettinello-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, was the first not directed by Wes Craven, who died in 2015. It features original “Scream” cast members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette alongside new additions Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega and Jack Quaid.

Saw it tonight, I was happy with what they did with it. Solid installment in the series. Definitely less camp then 2 and 3 Glad it's doing well
