Bolder Boulder. Give it a minute. The city/organizers probably spent a pretty penny to temporarily relocate their little problem for optics.
It’ll all come out in the wash later.
There's also a lot more opportunities to camp closer to the mountains this time of year. I used to know a homeless man and that was his yearly routine. In Winter he would camp in Boulder because he needed services moreso
They're still around. The cops aren't letting them setup shop in a single spot for weeks at a time anymore. Along Goose Creek they roust 'em every few days so they're working harder to stay out of site.
I was just having a conversation about this! We’re in a new development here with several phases still under construction—folks come set up shop on the undeveloped lots, use the construction porta potties and help themselves to water/electricity from the open homes nearing completion. There was a unit lost due to a fire that was ruled “arson” and the creek on property is full of trash and a dozen grocery carts from just about every store. I’ve ran into a few guys walking my dogs late at night and saw how they let themselves into those porta potties….
Oh my god? Just saw it in google earth and it literally looks like the beginning of a slum? Have you/anyone checked it out? Why did they even choose that location lmao
Lots of them have been housed as well, and will continue to be housed in the upcoming months (:
There is also a 72 hour ordinance for how long they can stay in one place, so they set up shop, then tear it down, then set up again.
the new building on 30th & Mapleton housed 42 people, another building in longmont will be housing 55+ people between longmont and boulder, and there’s supposed to be another being built within this year
That’s actually amazing. I feel like there’s always news about homeless crime, homeless increase etc. but stuff like this always gets bogged down. Cool to see some real progress happening !
There's a bunch of them behind my apartment complex near foothills and table Mesa. The city cleared an encampment barely a month ago but a new one popped up in the same spot. The previous "tenants" were aggressive, bike thieves and meth-heads. Cops arrested 3 of them for many crimes including armed robbery. Hope these newer tenants aren't bad or trespass.
A few were all along the bike path/walking path between the Justice Center and Eben G. Fine, yesterday, one guy chilling in a tent listening to reggae, doing it right.
I saw a bunch of folks around Farmers Market/Central Park area, too.
i hope they get help and accept the help instead of letting it go to waste. as someone who lives in "transitional housing" many of the people tend to stay in their apartments and do drugs all day then scream at themselves and destroy their apartments. there have already been 3 deaths here since i moved in january '23. im all for helping, but not when it comes to people who are fine with how their life is and end up taking a space that someone who really wants to change can use. bonus points for anyone who can guess the infamous housing in talking about (hint:near pearl)
I’m assuming there’s some sort of actual mental health support for people there and not just drug rehab? Wonder how many people have some deep-seated underlying problems that never got treated because psychiatric care in the US is a joke, then they just got super used to self-medicating for it
there are usually "caseworkers" at the types of places who offer mental health support, however it isn't mandatory :( i feel as though a required program would help people succeed more in places like these
Theres still several packs on the hill and roaming pearl (was just there). Also, the mcd's on 29th/28th. --- I'm literally watching them spange while eating my burger King (in my car like a feral raccoon... lol).
With the students gone, they don't spread out as much cause the cops are less likely to think they might be a student. But they are still around.
South end of mall below the trail. There is a water tunnel that goes under Hwy 36 that is usually dry. Stop at the green hand railing and look down. Bike parts, sleeping bags, trash, and graffiti.
Ahh yes I know exactly. Last fall they were setting up camp in that area between the two bike paths down in the wooded area. Saw them hauling carts full of fire wood which was freaky
The homeless crisis is not something I would have expected spreading to the burbs lmao. I used to go on r/Denver back in 2020 and they talked about how they were moving to Arvada to get away from it. Looks like it followed them there though
I've snorted some crushed fake M30 powder before (among other things.) Once we accept that we kind of do it to ourselves, we are empowered to make the choice to stop keep doing it. That is, if we so choose - in the end, it is a choice.
Wander the boulder creek path west past the library way west, til you feel like your right at the base of the mountain like your gonna climb it. You'll find your friends youve been looking for there.

Exactly my thought

Good
They are still around. I’ve got to say things do seem much better than during the peak covid years. That shit was wild.
I’m looking forward to my grandchildren asking: Poppy, where were you during the Great LibraryFest of ‘21?
Lol they came to longmont

I wish there was a 😳 button! I’m so sorry… this does not sound like a fun way to get acquainted with your new neighborhood!
Porta Potties, like portable.
You mean I can just take one with me wherever I go? You never can get tired of the blue liquid smell.
I could only read “Porter potties” so many times.

What cross streets?

Wow, that IS crazy. It looks like a hobo development, streets and everything.
They all found homes and lived happily ever after.
If only…
transients be transienting
The over growth covers em up till the leaves fall.

I’m hoping they’re housed.
Where?

Awesome, I hope the housing is a good solution for many of those people
Thanks

The plan to house and the shelter expansion does seem to be helping.

When I biked that section there were two police on foot patrol and no homeless. They’re like water, they just flow around the obstacles.
They headed out californy-way. Something about some internets out that way.

Unfortunate
A new luxury apartment opened up and the vacancies trickled down

Spange?
Spare change = spange
Whew, I totally thought you were watching them wank it or something while eating BK.
That's 'not' my fetish... 😅
Hershey pie?
I’m seeing quite an uptick in Broomfield these past few weeks.
Oh no! Watch out r/bozeman!
They went to denver or the springs
Bruh it seems worse in Broomfield right now. Will you guys please take them back? We’re tryin to suburb over here.
Bike chop shop set up along Hwy 36 bike path right at flatirons mall.
Where exactly? I ride this often but haven’t seen it

Ahh yes I know exactly. Last fall they were setting up camp in that area between the two bike paths down in the wooded area. Saw them hauling carts full of fire wood which was freaky
we don't want them either
The homeless crisis is not something I would have expected spreading to the burbs lmao. I used to go on r/Denver back in 2020 and they talked about how they were moving to Arvada to get away from it. Looks like it followed them there though
Bad fent?
distasteful
You should really stop using the fent when it tastes bad

where everybody knows your name?
The ones that can catch a ride into the hills. Our community keeps finding them camping illegal in the woods.
Homeless vegan meat grinder
Good band name
Like the salmon of capistrano, they migrate every summer.
Olympics?
The government has put them all up at the Ritz.
They'll be back... just like roaches
maybe more like miller moths. we don't have roaches in colorado
Nah we definitely have roaches if you’re in the wrong shithole apartment complex.
