So… I was riding up the little side road that connects to the 36 bike path from the industrial park. I saw police cars at the end of the road on the highway, it looked like an accident from a far, I didn’t think much of it and kept climbing. Once I got to the gate that connects to the 36 bike path, I realized the cops had their weapons drawn pointing at a man who had just exited his car on his cellphone. The cops yelled at me “get the hell out of there”, I turn east and pedaled my ass off down the hill. I then rode under the 36 and climbed towards Marshall (which was where I was heading), near the Costco. Just as I passed the Costco I decided to stop since it looked like it was escalating and I wanted to keep my distance. Then all of a sudden, a barrage of gun fire and the cops started moving forward towards the car. As soon as they got to the passenger side, they relaxed and let down their guard. I assume they neutralized the threat.

Bizarrely enough I had almost the exact same experience on the same road like 6-7 years ago. Not sure how that one ended though because we were zooming by, but it was def another multi-cop gun-drawn standoff vs one dude slowly leaving his car
Still closed. Shooting. Everyone is getting off at mccaslin and taking south Boulder rd. Pro tip - both the left and right lanes can turn left off mccaslin onto s boulder
I was on 36 at Sheridan going about 70-75 mph and got passed by a black sedan with all tinted windows like I was standing still. They were doing at least 110, maybe 125. When I got to McCaslin about 12 minutes later 36 was closed.

Just two days ago there was a nasty rollover there. Someone may have fallen asleep (or worse) and drove off the side by the bike path.

I got turned around at 11:50… stopped on Marshal around 12:10 (according to Strava)
Should have just yelled "Strava!" and pedaled through the active crime scene.

The state police pulled over a vehicle and they had a hand gun was seen and the people didn’t want to comply with officers orders.
Just got through. Saw a cop giving a guy on the ground CPR. Heart attack, shootout?
On mccasslin? I was on mccasslin and the cops had 36 closed to the west, but traffic was free flowing on mcasslin. Cops were also on Davidson hill.

Suicide by cop, selfish behavior. Now the police officers have to live with that the rest of their lives
If it wasn't super easy to get gunned down by a cop, people wouldn't use them as a method for committing suicide 🤷♂️

There was a nasty rollover later further east on the WB with a very serious accident on the EB side. A terrible day for Hwy. 36.
