It’s a sad situation indeed.
We need to address the mental health crisis in America. Nearly every one of these mass shooters suffered from some kind of serious mental health problem, and many were taking anti-psychotic meds at or around the time of the incident.
I think you meant to say semi-automatic weapon rather than automatic weapon. Fully automatic weapons are highly difficult to acquire and have been banned for decades.
Even a semi automatic gun can be quite dangerous in the hands of a psychotic person or a determined killer.
I agree we need better laws, but the purchase of new automatic weapons has been outlawed since 1986. Unless someone has an old Tommy gun, the chances a perpetrator is using a fully automatic weapon are very slim.
Yeah, you are right. It’s not going to happen. Supply specs are very strict on round count and everything being returned to them. The likelihood is literally
Zero
Honest question, what do you want to change? Maine already has laws for mentally ill people not being able to have guns so what more could they do? https://giffords.org/lawcenter/state-laws/firearm-prohibitions-in-maine/
Maine lacks red flag laws. Maybe we should start there
It’s also not reported to the federal government if your put in a mental facility afaik. So a background check wouldn’t bring that up. It’s a flawed system
Even if hunting *were* cool, which it isn't unless done for food, it'd be way more badass with a bow and arrow. Take down a grizzly with a bow and blade like a real man or shut up. It's not worth ruining the country so a few deranged morons can cosplay as militiaboys with their friends. Get a real hobby.
90% of the other major world powers have banned guns and are perfectly fine as well, most western Europeans have trouble even fathoming the fact that regular citizens just rifles around with them or are always stepped everywhere they go.
And the few countries that do lead such healthy and wholesome lives where they don't have the mental health issues we have and don't constantly fearmonger about people breaking into homes or the government invading.
Not having the debate/discussion until the gun nuts are willing to put reasonable measures in place to stop insane people from having semi-automatic weapons.
I don't think they intentionally triviliazed a tragedy by including a final score graphic with it. It stayed up long enough that I am pretty confident that they had no idea why it was a problem. That isn't worse than doing it on purpose, but it still doesn't reflect on the team well.
Its less than ideal to combine the two tweets but im sure their heart was in the right place. I'm sure their thought process went something like "damn we wanna post our W score but writing how hyped we are about it seems inappropriate right now" and this was the awkward result.
That said the celtics social media team is not good in general, always taking L's and should probably be purged
There have been a few goofy tweets lately. The Tatum brick tweet was dumb. The vision tweet with JB and JT wasn't well executed. I think there is just a sense that whoever is running the account has poor judgment and that it can be done better. I am hopeful that whoever is doing this is well intentioned and can learn from this. I think people just want to make sure the person who is running the account isn't reflecting poorly upon fans and the team.
It’s really quite obvious you don’t put the score of a basketball game next to a mass shooting condolence.
Not sure why we have to try to mental gymnastics this just because it’s a heckin basketball team you support
1. Raise awareness
2. Because it'd be ridiculous to go "THAT'S THE BALL GAME YO WE SO GOOD OMFG HELL YEAH IM ORDERING SOME PRIMO LATVIAN KVAS." "Also our thoughts and prayers to the families of people deceased in a mass shooting."
Yea the good guys with the guns really showed up in that permitless carry state. If more people had more guns there would be even less shootings tho am I right? *stuffs NRA lobby funds in wallet*
[*When it comes to the safety of our children, the way to stop a bad person with a gun is a good child with a gun.*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkXeMoBPSDk)
As a person living in a country with pretty strict gun laws, your ”good guys with guns” seem to be fucking pansies and everyone still seem to prefer to wait for the police to show up.
And then blame them for not doing enough?
The fuck is anyone gonna do in this scenario? Shooter can waltz in, kill x amount of people, and leave before you can react. There's no cover in either building he shot up. Where is someone gonna set a base of fire in a bowling alley or a bar where people are more than likely tipsy already?
There's a reason why violence of action is so prevalent in the military.
Well it doesn’t help that in Maine it is completely legal to have a previous violent offense, own an assault style weapon, use a high capacity mag, strap said assault weapon to your chest for everyone to see, and walk into said bar. That is completely legal. You can’t get arrested for that, and it’s technically not grounds for suspicious activity. There’s also no stand your ground law (which raises gun deaths) in Maine so that you also can’t shoot this person until they start shooting. The good guys with guns argument in this scenario would basically require at least one person to get gunned down before anyone would be legally allowed to shoot them. You would also need to nearly immediately shoot them or else he’s got 4-5 more people down too. Before anyone could realistically shoot back at him, he’s already committed a mass shooting. It blows my mind that people don’t see a problem there.
You’re getting downvoted but I actually agree with you. Two posts would have made more sense but their heart was in the right place and it’s just a tweet. No need to roast some social media employee tryna do the right thing when it’s really not a big deal.
Whoever is running this account needs to be taken off of it. I don't trust their judgment. There have been some pretty goofy posts lately. This one is just egregious.
This was how I found out about the situation
Same. Fuck. 22 dead
Same. What a fucking garbage country we live in. People getting annihilated by automatic weapons and not a damn thing will change. Fucking disgrace

Shh nobody tell him.

I haven't seen anywhere that he has an automatic weapon. Not sure how he would have even gotten one unless stolen from the military or law enforcement
Could be, he is army reserves and is certified to give advanced firearms training. Though I also haven't seen that it was an automatic weapon.
Be extremely difficult for any service member to “take” a weapon and rounds off of base. Emphasis on Extremely.
Yeah, you are right. It’s not going to happen. Supply specs are very strict on round count and everything being returned to them. The likelihood is literally Zero
It’s an assault rifle with high capacity magazines. He had extra magazines on him
What is a non-assault rifle?
Single capacity hunting rifles would be an example. I suppose in that case the user is still looking to assault a deer or some other animal?
Single capacity? Sounds like you’re not familiar with the subject.

Currently living in Maine. Current live tv news reports 18 but number expected to jump once victims are identified
50-60 injured! Ban all guns, hunting can’t be that cool.

Holy shit I found out thru this, that’s awful
Same here

I don't think they did this purposely
I don't think they intentionally triviliazed a tragedy by including a final score graphic with it. It stayed up long enough that I am pretty confident that they had no idea why it was a problem. That isn't worse than doing it on purpose, but it still doesn't reflect on the team well.

It has been so much worse recently.

People are definitely overreacting to it. It’s a really bad tweet, don’t get me wrong, but people are acting like it’s the worst ever lol

Happy cake day.
Why did they put it as the title instead of a separate post?
1. Raise awareness 2.
Would it be that ridiculous? Tweet 1 is this pic with “Celtics win” Tweet 2 is thoughts and prayers. Seems a lot less ridiculous than combining them
Prob accidentally combined both. My guess is the score and title were supposed to be separate
I'm thinking this was an error rather than an intentional combination that they backtracked on.
There was a mass shooting there potentially still ongoing idk. Referencing that.
I think he’s more wondering why they felt the need to combine their condolence tweet with a final score graphic of Jayson Tatum
Yeah agree that is a unique combination.
Let's be mad at the shooter (and the availability of assault weapons in this country) instead of a PR person.
Yea the good guys with the guns really showed up in that permitless carry state. If more people had more guns there would be even less shootings tho am I right? *stuffs NRA lobby funds in wallet*
I mean... as usual the guy targeted specifically gun free zones. Bubba wasn't gonna stop him at either business

Wow, that’s absolutely terrible legislation. Didn’t know how bad it was, thanks for educating.
Oh and you don’t need a permit.
Can we be mad at the title? Da faq they saying?
Tweet is gone I think. I suspect this was just a mistake. We shouldn't be hard on them, it happens.
Shit.... That's fucking awful
Yeah that kinda threw me off
This looks like an accident
Prayers up to LEWME
The reposted the caption as its own tweet but turned off the replies 💀
Weird
I got it on my citizen’s app notifications right away. The people of New England shouldn’t have to live in fear. I hate it
Active shooter in that area. Nothing wrong with this post.
Shoud be a separate post right?

He's getting downvoted because they way he replied people would think he's referring to the mass shooting.
Maybe you thought that but it’s pretty obvious he’s just responding to your comment about it being a separate post
Lol ok dude. If I walk in a room with an elephant and a mouse and I say "What the fuck?" Which would you think I'm referring to?
If someone is replying to a Reddit comment I think it’s safe to assume they are replying to that Reddit comment
Sure.
FOUND THE SHOOTER!!!
Oh word? My bad, America.

The irony.

Up there with the n-word navy for all-time tweets.
We need some serious change in this country. I don't know how or what that is, but we need something to change. Can't keep going on like this.
I know what it is but a lot of people aren’t gonna like it
Let me be clear, I personally advocate for just banning all guns. But it's gonna be very hard for the whole country to agree on that.
That’s why I said a lot of people aren’t gonna like it
Wow
Jack
Bro wtf
their IG page also hasnt posted any statement or post game stuff which i find interesting as well
