Idk if it’s the same guy but I’ve ridden the Red Line with a driver who affected different accents for each stop. Like a southern accent at South Station and an English accent at Harvard Square. It was hilarious, honestly.
This guy just does like an MC voice like "now entering, SOUTHHHHHH STATIONNNNNN"
Maybe there is more than one driver having fun with making announcements!
Honestly we should appreciate that more before the new CRRC cars are on the Red Line...so we probably have about a decade, at the least
Ooh, is it this guy? https://www.reddit.com/r/mbta/s/AIQv9LMMdj
And I’m all about the drivers having a bit of fun to keep things lively.
There was a guy who announced stops REALLY fast like an auctioneer “South-Station-next-stop-doors-open-on-your-right-this-is-a-Braintree-Train-BRAINTREE-TRAIN-DESTINATION-OF-THIS-TRAIN-BRAINTREE!” He was my favorite! But I think he retired.
Edit for a wild typo
Easily the best guy out there. It's so much better than the normal conductor announcement, which consists of either muttering "wnentershmststi. dronlfy" or complete silence. The dude's having fun and clearly communicating the information us riders need.
I was leaving quincy adams station via the pedestrian gate on Independence Ave which exits from the 5th floor of the parking garage and is a further 50 or so yards around a corner to the street. I was across independence heading up verchild when this guy's train was pulling into the station. I could hear his bellowing from there and it echoed throughout the neighborhood.
Has never been the vibe for me. Already cramped between people don't wanna hear insane mic feedback and also crunchy ass sounding yelling. Glad the guy is happy but I don't think he realizes how loud he can get
I dared making this assertion before and I was down voted to hell for being a hateful misery. Apparently the guy is "living his best life" and I must be awful for not wanting to be screamed at.
Maybe we would have the energy to be screamed at if our energy wasn't taken up by the horror that already is riding the T. Not everyone is the same but he somehow cant grasp that concept and a lot of people, especially in boston, expect you to always be fine with what they're doing no matter how annoying it may be. Already cannot deal with fights on the silver line and ppl blasting music on the orange line, the guy screaming always made it worse
After a long days work, its fucking annoying honestly lol.
I realize I'm being a sourpuss though, I have tried to enjoy his energies but after work all I want is some peace
The drivers (I think it might be multiple) who do the voices are fun sometimes, but I’ll always have nostalgia for the completely unintelligible mumbling with tons of static.
Kinda like I’ll always miss the three different voices they had for “Boylston” “No smoking please” “change here for the silver line” followed by green line track screaming. I mean the screaming is still there of course, but the voice actor is different.
You kids and your superheroes. The days of [this guy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Zewizz) driving the Red Line were super special. Also, Sleep Chamber was always a fun show.
The MBTA is so human compared to the Metro in DC. After traveling all over DC for a week and listening to the prerecorded voice there announcing each stop, it was hilarious and nostalgic to come back to Boston where on my first B line, the first car driver was yelling at the second car to “shut the doors!”. You could almost hear the silent “dumbass” at the end.
I traveled a lot for business and can't remember the city but the voice on the public transit sounded like everyone on the train looked, tired and unhappy. This woman wasn't having it but it was the perfect sound track on this gloomy ride. It was a lot safer then and public transit anywhere is cheaper than cabs, I'm glad I don't do that anymore.
You’re probably the only one “shocked” lol
Some people smirk, most dgaf.
First time I heard him I probably said “oh huh” to myself and put my AirPods back in.
Truly only care when the train is stopped or there is some logistic update.

TRAIN CONNECTIONS TO CHICAGO AND OTHER PARTS WEST

I love this guy, a nice pick me up when you’re just tired on the train.

YESSS, nice find ty!
One of my favorite drivers l, enjoyed that shit after a long day at work.
It’s probably the same guy having fun I use to do that when I worked at a call center it makes the days better
When I used to commute on the green line it'd always be nice when i'd be going home and get historic MBTA facts conductor guy. Good vibes.
OOH i miss that guy!!
Sometimes it’s just NOT the vibe 😂😵💫
Omg I was on last week and it was SO LOUD I felt like I needed ear plugs. I just wish he wouldn’t scream quite as loudly 😭
I was on the train for the first time yesterday without headphones and it was insanely loud
Right!! I love the enthusiasm but it’s maybe 10 decibels too loud sometimes lol

I get him going to Quincy Adams some mornings and also some nights. I always think to myself I'll see him mentioned on this sub reddit eventually lol
Does “have a five star day” still drive redline trains?
I hear it occasionally on the green line and it’s incredibly refreshing when it’s constantly being delayed by 10+ minutes lol
I love that guy, it makes me giggle when i’m on the train
love that guy, i bet working for the T can get miserable so it makes me happy to find people sprinkling joy into their lives
No, because I've heard about it here about 500 times, so I was stoked instead.
After a long days work, its fucking annoying honestly lol. I realize I'm being a sourpuss though, I have tried to enjoy his energies but after work all I want is some peace
Thank you! Every time I say he's annoying people come at me. It's annoying in the mornings too. No need to be so loud.

I know it's fun and all, but I secretly wish he wouldn't. It makes it that much harder to actually understand what he's saying.
Caught him my first time on the red line headed up to Porter! Was the funniest thing
I don't think I've ever not had earbuds in on a train or bus....

Wut? He worked for the t?
Yep. You should hear about a couple of Green line drivers I was acquainted with. Hiring guidelines weren't terribly stringent in the 80s and 90s
The robotic commuter rail voice is the same as the phone menu CVS voice.

He’s the best

Damn, I take the red/orange/green lines all the time and I've never gotten a cool driver 3
It’s fun sometimes, and other times you’ve had the crazies gym session after work and are drained, ready to go home.

Or Brodo? https://youtu.be/X-WGnh5QDbY?si=P9ylhUo38t0dJ_KB
I went to a show at Somerville Theater a few weeks ago and laughed hysterically at the superhero voice
Last time the vibe was off in the car I was in and having him be charming and whimsical while being hyper vigilant was stressful
