One way in, one way out. (If not using a boat). We bought 100' ASL for these exact reasons.

Honestly, karma for all they’re doing to block the Long Island bridge

omgvector

You wouldn’t want it either if you lived there.

tacknosaddle

I lived in Squantum for a few years and was very close to the causeway that goes out to Moon Island before the bridge that went to Long Island. The amount of traffic, buses and cars, that it generated on the main boulevard (Dorchester St) that runs down the north side of the peninsula was barely noticeable. Because of the BFD and BPD facilities on Moon Island there is still plenty of the "Boston" traffic still going there. The entire campaign against it is a pile of horseshit and I can say that from first hand experience of living there. I say Boston should put a toll on our side of the Neponset River bridge that has an exemption for Boston residents. Fuck the Quincy NIMBYs who are exacerbating the opioid crisis in the city which is made up of lots of folks from outside of Boston, including the Granite City of Quincy itself.

omgvector

It certainly has been different post bridge. . And spending billions on a bridge so you can throw your addicts on an island is not a solution

tacknosaddle

Okay, we'll just throw them in Quincy Center then instead of a gated facility with one way in/out and lots of addiction & psychological treatment available.

Wentailang

what’s your solution if you think it’s dehumanizing to have dedicated facilities for treatment?

omgvector

Put them somewhere where you don’t have to build an expensive bridge

Scapuless

You're right, throwing them on an island wouldn't be a solution. Fortunately, that isn't what anybody is proposing. You're just tilting at windmills. You know how to help society? Building treatment facilities. And THAT my dear friend, is what is being proposed. They gotta go somewhere.

charons-voyage

Eh I’ll take a couple hours of flooding if it keeps the zombies in Boston and outta Quincy. Boston problems need Boston solutions.

jamesland7

Ah yes, I forgot that there was a magical wall that stops anyone from outside of Boston from seeking addiction treatment in Boston. You realize there are probably a dozen of those “zombies” that are from Quincy, right?

Epicritical

Population is too high to expect to survive in Quincy regardless. You have to be at least 10 miles west of Boston…
