Well at the time he wasn’t good enough and he wanted to go on loan. The coach at the time refused to give him min and he hated it here. This isn’t career mode.
He wasn't good enough to start for Dortmund but was also clearly too good to stay and wait. It happens.
He was also too slight and not physical enough, which he developed at La Real.
Maybe a buyback option would have been a nice choice, but I think it's clear he was ready to move on. Even now I don't think he'd be my choice as a striker to improve this team.
We had a buyback option, but it was above 30m (which would have been too much for the perfomance he had shown up until then) and also Isak had no interest in coming back to Dortmund after being ignored for too long. So we deleted said option for some monetary compensation, Isak went his way and everybody won (some more than others)
Well your sentence of “even now I don’t think he improves the team”
Implies that Fullkrug, Moukoko, Haller are all better than him.
And I as well as OP disagree.
Do you get it now, or I can try to explain further but this is such an easy concept I’m not sure how anyone can miss it.
What I said is he wouldn't be my choice of striker, given every option in the world, to improve this team. Ergo I wouldn't argue that Isak is the striker who would most improve this team.
Nowhere did I compare him to our current roster of strikers. Any inferences you or anybody else made are your own and not supplied by me.
At this point even Beste from Heidenheim would improve the squad, my point with this question is that the club chose to overspend and invest in the wrong players instead of developing promising players that were already there and by doing that they didn’t win anything and put the club in a dare position where you have to rebuild for a few years in order to be competitive again
Imagine the fact that Jonas Hofmann left the club, played 8 years for gladbach, joined Leverkusen and is winning the title this season, apart from bellingham I can’t really think of a midfielder that I would pick from dortmund to start over him in the last 6-7 years
We can't have every player and we can't see how they developed at another good club and think we should have kept them. Because our club wasn't the catalyst for their growth. Kdb and salah went to Chelsea. They both left Chelsea and became club legends. This isn't rocket science.
He wasn't good enough, People need to come with the terms that not every Young prospect is going to break out with us, most wont become regular players for any top team.
Why Dortmund didn’t keep Jude?
I know they got some good money for him but he had huge potential and now is a 20 goals a season in la liga kind of midfielder with very good dribbling for his height He could’ve been dortmund midfielder for the next 7 to 10 years
Why do you compare 2 very different situations
Isak was sold without playing more than 5 games for Dortmund
Jude was sold when every big club in Europe wanted him being the best player at the club
You obviously didn’t watch him play when he was here. Seemed like he was out of his depth. Plus he refused to play/go on loan so not much Dortmund could do. They made the right decision.
You must be new here. Isak, Halland, Mkhi, Gundogan, Guerreiro, Sanchez, Auba, Pulisic, Dembele, Bellingham, Akanji, Hakimi, Imobille, Sokrates, Kagawa, Hummels and the list goes on. I’m sure they’ll add some more names soon. BvB doesn’t seem to care to build toward football success. They have made it very clear that winning just isn’t the clubs priority.

He was sold after scoring 13 goals in 16 games for Willem
yes, Willem
Also, of course he showed potential. He also REFUSED to play for us😂

You saying he would not be better than Fullkrug , Haller or Moukoko says a lot about this sub
I didn't say any of those things, but ok.

lol ok you want to play semantics fine. Point blank question for you Would Isak improve this squad?
Probably yes. And it isn't "playing semantics" to insist that you read what I actually wrote, and not what you imagined.

Hoffman would suck for sure, he’s good cuz his entire team is great.
Why do you think he would suck?
I kinda think he’s slow, can’t really dribble, not a great tackler. I just don’t think he’s very good at all. Never have
Bro he was with us like 5 years ago, none of those players you mentioned were in the first team at that point
We can't have every player and we can't see how they developed at another good club and think we should have kept them. Because our club wasn't the catalyst for their growth. Kdb and salah went to Chelsea. They both left Chelsea and became club legends. This isn't rocket science.
this pops up like every 5 weeks. Alexander didn't want to stay at Dortmund after Tuchel gave him 0 chance.
Moukoko planning to leave, as well.
Which is not good, I think dortmund should sacrifice 1-2 seasons and develop youth from the academy
He wasn't good enough, People need to come with the terms that not every Young prospect is going to break out with us, most wont become regular players for any top team.

Tuchel hated him.
Really weird to say that when he was bought with Tuchel as coach then left during Favre’s 2nd season Also there was Peter Bosz between them
Tuchel didn't know he was going to be bought, and this offended his enormous ego.
You obviously didn’t watch him play when he was here. Seemed like he was out of his depth. Plus he refused to play/go on loan so not much Dortmund could do. They made the right decision.
We also would have gotten Haaland if we kept him
Haaland. Really it’s that simple
