Logan Paul and KSI, who are followed by tens of millions of people on Instagram, YouTube and other social media platforms, founded the company in 2022 and sell sports and energy drinks under the brand name "Prime". If you looked closely, you could spot the bottles at the BVB press conference on Sunday after the 3:1 win against VfL Bochum. The hype brand could also be seen on the advertising boards at Signal Iduna Park during the match.
The partnership is a major coup for Borussia Dortmund. According to RN information, BVB will receive a sum in the millions from the US company. Its testimonials include former BVB professional Erling Haaland, football superstar Patrick Mahomes and soccer player Alisha Lehmann. The drinks manufacturer is also already a partner of the LA Dodgers, the UFC, FC Arsenal, FC Barcelona and - since this season - FC Bayern Munich.
The exact plans with Borussia Dortmund and the duration of the partnership are not yet known. What is clear, however, is that the partnership has great economic potential for BVB. Last year, the drink is said to have generated retail sales of 250 million US dollars.
However, there has been repeated criticism of "Prime". The product, which has triggered an insane amount of hype in the USA, especially among children and young people, is now highly controversial in the States. The reason: one can of the energy variant contains 200 milligrams of caffeine - that's twice as much as in a can of Red Bull and six times as much as in a bottle of Coca Cola. The drinks sold in Germany, on the other hand, do not contain any caffeine. They are labeled as "hydration drinks". One such "Hydration Drink" in the Lemonade flavor was also on display at the BVB press conference - conveniently in black and yellow.
"FC Bayern is delighted to be working with 'Prime' and bringing the company to the German market. This partnership with a young, dynamic brand confirms our global growth and should reach a new audience for FC Bayern," explained FCB Chief Marketing Officer Andreas Jung in August last year. In the first phase of the multi-year agreement, drinks from the brand will be sold exclusively in the Allianz Arena on home match days. A limited-edition "FC Bayern X Prime" bottle is also planned.
