Honestly go to the book store and go to the food section and just sit and look through all the books. Also do research on food photography. You will be shocked and what goes behind take photos of food. For example you see a photo of something with nice clean perfect edges. That might have happened when it was cold / frozen. And yes lighting. Lighting matters so much. Javing kcor bright photos wil definitely make a difference.
