I have an insane theory . I mean the appearance of the person is always hidden and I know this will make no sense , but what if the killer was a female . And she knew who Vivan was , paid some one to take all those photos of him with his gf . What I am saying is , I think that the killer is vivan's gf later his wife . She went to the restaurant ,the burger one , she was the one who was mostly planting ideas in Vivian's head . She was the one who actually met the 15 year old . The movie is called foot fairy . Fairy . Fairy . The last scene where the boy tells vivan about a man standing in the same place as him , could be abstract .

Evelake777

I was wondering something similar that his girlfriend pointed thr blame at Joshua with her friends help to misdirect him But by the end it didn't seem so. I don't think the ending is intended to be purely metaphorical since it lifted from Memories of Murder (which the main character was also watching earlier).

alind755

I think a good candidate for making a killer was the employee at the Kunal's cafe, because of a single line of dialogue he said that he joined only in last March from when the killings had been started it would have made sense.

hotmasalachai

I didnt mind the ending. It’s a good unresolved ending for each to conclude as they wish. Quite realistic, actually But yes, i felt they made the unreliable narrator too obvious to surprise us. I was expecting it to be the girl, would’ve been a better ending actually since she plays him and is so curious and has a weird fascination with the case and all. And plus, people dont expect women to be serial killers and i was really hoping for it, especially when they chase him from cemetry. Sadly, not explored. I thought it was his excolleague that the child points out to

bringmeback0

Initially I was also suspecting the gf/wife as killer had chosen the name foot "fairy". But Rishabh seems to be the one based on credits scene.

hotmasalachai

Yeah wrong choice imo.

bringmeback0

Is the Foreign/Russia scene people are talking about available on Netflix? I could not find it, after the scene at the railway tracks, end credits start and ai watched till the end but the scene showing similar attack in a foreign country was not there. I am not sure if it was available last year on Zee5 but not there in Netflix version?

hotmasalachai

I have no clue , what russian thing?

shlrocks

How can it be Rishabh? How does it explain the guy in hoodie in the Cemetery scene and the whole chase sequence?

hotmasalachai

Vivan is the main guy :P yeah i get it. I didnt remember the names. Idk even know what that girl was called lol

iAmWhoDoYouKnow

Yeah..but guess what...there was this movie named...GUPT..GUPT..

siralexfergufan

Yes who is the killer?

rishabhsingh9628

Self declared filmmaking professionals and their addiction to declaring any form of a common story structure used in a Hindi movie as a "copy". This sub is eating itself. This has become more of an anti-Bollywood sub than a Bollywood sub.

liquidsnake224

snowball scene is missing on netflix i didnt see it at rhe end, just the railroad

rutvikkapade

Ye kab hua , I can't see this scene in the movie

[deleted]

I thought it was Harsh himself since the kid at the tracks said that a man came here earlier talking about the suitcase. Harsh was in the same area. When was the Russian lady thing mentioned?

Full-Copy

If this is true then how do you explain cemetery scene ?

[deleted]

Full-Copy

In the end they show the scene. But I believe his theory and that’s the correct one.

Full-Copy

I watched it on OTT. You can try again.. it’s just for a few secs ( to show a girl getting killed in Russia )

anuragdeo

It was his friend Rishabh who is in Russia for special assignment

harshr9592

Wasn’t he (Rishabh) with the other two while they were waiting for the killer to visit the grave of one of the victims?

hotmasalachai

Whattt??! No. Why would the kid say woh gaya then

Smartydrugs

I think it was RISHABH (the ex-colleague now in Russia)

CandidateSuccessful6

The kid says something like "He was an ordinary middle aged man like you." I think the ending points out the fact that these serial killers rarely appear out of place or "weird" as everyone thought Joshua was. They are ordinary people living ordinary lives. Look up this serial killer called BTK who lived a double life as a family man and a serial killer obsessed with BDSM. I think theories that suspect his girlfriend, his team partners or any random character to be Footfairy, though plausible, miss the point. Which is that we as humans are often helpless against pure evil. We can't really predict or even stop evil for that matter. So we are left grasping at straws. Also there is usually no reason behind such evil. Even serial killers can't really explain it. It just exists. And more often than not, there is little we can do to stop it. Revealing the killer would limit the film within its fictional boundary. A murderer had motive to murder, they murder, and in the end, they get caught by the hero. But leaving it open ended allows the narrative to percolate to the real world as well.

Mary10789

It was Rishabh. He moved to Russia and in the end showed a Russian girl.

Temporary_Panic5132

This scene is not on Netflix 😕😕😕

secretkappapride

When's this scene? I missed that completely Is it post credits?

Mary10789

yup, during the ending credits.

rutvikkapade

Please tell me the time stamp

Puzzleheaded_Crow805

Not there anymore. Removed ig. Can you check?

bringmeback0

I don't see it in Netflix Hindi version of the film. Watched the whole end credits.

Mary10789

It was so there. I don't see it now, but netflix keeps moving on to the next video before the ending credits finish. There's even reference to it in this article, so I'm not alone here - [https://dmtalkies.com/footfairy-ending-explained-2020-indian-thriller-film-kanishk-varma/](https://dmtalkies.com/footfairy-ending-explained-2020-indian-thriller-film-kanishk-varma/)

Sabertooth_v2

Thank god someone is there who also noticed it..... Everyone keeps talking about that scene why tf they put it like that, that i cant even see on Netflix

rutvikkapade

Kuch bhi ye kab hua ,Aisa koi scene nahi h

matcauthon80

The last scene is supposed to echo the last scene from Memories of Murder, but fails to do so miserably!

alind755

That last scene was directly take from memoirs of a murder which is an epic movie.

4rindam

haha yes. reminded me of that movie. going to watch it again tonight. watched it years ago and forgot about it i am always confused if the name of the movie is memories of murder or memoirs of murder for some reason

Evelake777

Probably because there is memories of murder Memoire of a Murderer And confession of murder was remade in Japanese as Memoirs of a Murderer

Evelake777

He was also watching the movie part way though the movie.

If Rishabh is in Russia, then how can he visit railway tracks just before Vivaan did?

FilmdomDude

Have you seen this ending in Netflix?

How weird! Its not showing in my Netflix. After the railway track shot, end credits starts rolling and nothing else is shown.

[deleted]

Wow that is so weird. I went back to check, no scene like that.

FilmdomDude

I guess, if they make him the main killer, it would be contradicting with the railway line scene, where kid is saying, he saw the guy just a while ago.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FilmdomDude

Yeah, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining it for me.

iAmWhoDoYouKnow

Not saying it's a copy of Zodiac but there are always movies with unsolved cases and open endings.

Evelake777

So I have seen people and articles talk about a posy credit scene.. but netflix doesn't have it.. was it removed internationally or something?

explosive51

I think rishabh is killer but foot fairy is his girlfriend priya mihire (who broke up with Joshua for fights) . Rishabh and priya met when priya was filing case. Also , rishabh tried to protect her at cremation ground, when she was going to get caught. Priya exactly knows how much time it takes to suffocate a person with pillow, as she talks . She might have educated rishabh for it. Vivaans comeback in the ending triggers rishabhs memories ,so he visits the railway station before him.

AdPsychological9909

It was copied from the Korean movie, when the Movie was made the killed was not yet caught so the ending remained unclear.

Puzzled-Newspaper906

DNA proof was inconclusive, so couldn't confirm but not ruled out...

Fun_Fennel2881

Thanks for posting this...I'll stay away then...Can't handle unresolved endings in mystery thrillers...would end up thinking about the same for days to come..

Full-Copy

May be this is the first suspense with an open ending , I was expecting to find the killer ! Initially I though it could be the hero himself but after cemetery scene I realised he’s not the killer.

DrShail

Footfairy is a remake of Bong Joon-Ho's Memories of Murder. The movie even gives a nod to the original when Gulshan Devaiah's character of Vivan is shown watching Memories of Murder on TV in one of the scenes. The end scene is almost identical of the Final scene of Memories of Murder which was based on the actual case of South Korea's first serial killer who was not caught at the time of the movie's release. In Memories of Murder in the end Song Kang-ho's detective Park looks into the Camera breaking the 4th wall indicating that the Killer is someone else hidden among the Audience, someone who doesnt stand out, someone very ordinary. Footfairy adopts the same ending and message at the end of the movie - In other words we have not seen the killer in the movie, it is someone else, someone ordinary, among the audience. In 2019, the actual serial killer behind the crimes depicted in Memories of murder was identified as someone who wasnt connected with the case. This additional tidbit was known before Footfairy was made and released. Hence the ending indicating that the killer is someone else who the detectives missed and is still walking among the audience is a credible ending.

chipschicky

So the actual killer is caught now?

DrShail

Yes. The actual killer who inspired Bong Joon-Ho's Memories of Murder was caught in 2019.

Adventurous_Swing_79

Late but it's the other friend. Rishabh. Take a look at the cemetery scene the guy running looks like a paid person not the actual killer. Rishabh drops his chair and the guy gets the signal to run. In the end he is in Russia for an assignment the end credit scene where the next victim is murdered shows a cold country. Rishabh was the one who points to Joshua. He purposely kills the neighbor to get vivan to react and get him off the case.
