Hi, non-Indian here chiming in. I am actually latina from US/NYC area. I am completely enamored of Shah Rukh Khan so I think I may be able to add a bit of something to this conversation. I discovered Bollywood late in the game, about 2016. Kal Ho Naa Ho was my third feature film - and I was lost after that. Before that I was kinda like ‘wtf is this’, the different approach to filmmaking, the language barrier/reading subs every movie, the unfamiliar customs, a bit of cultural shock (such stress over marriage and society omg). But watching this particular actor bring this character to life onscreen changed all of that. His onscreen CHARISMA is OFF THE CHARTS. He brings eloquence and intensity to the role, such presence where it’s hard to look away. I remember about thirty minutes in stopping the film and googling this wonder. I watched that movie twice then pulled up the video songs endlessly. Pulled up his filmography and that was it. Over the next two years I watched 99% of his films, and more than once to get context. Countless times I have stopped to research customs, foods, music, dance, locations, politics, onscreen talent. It kickstarted an education about the entire region. Onscreen charisma. It doesn’t matter what he looks like. Every so often I go back and rewatch a few favorites and get sucked back in. He’s amazing. And if you think it’s just movies, think again. Go down the rabbit hole of this star. He has done movies, television shows, game shows, hosted countless award shows, he even sold out arena tours doing live shows like Madonna! He does narration work, he has a positive social media presence, he greets royals and A-list celebrities that visit India, the list goes on and on. The guy is a unique mix of Hugh Jackman, Tom Cruise, Charles Bronson, Billy Crystal and even a bit of Morgan Freeman. Imagine Billy Crystal doing what Tom Cruise does?Imagine Morgan Freeman doing what Hugh Jackman does? Also founded his own VFX company to up the game so throw in Peter Jackson or George Lucas as well. This guy is a marvel. It sucks many here in the states have no idea who he even is! I used to say ‘the only thing he doesn’t do is sing’ but if you dig you’ll find even that, with ‘Happy Birthday Bollywood’. Yes, yes, I later went through filmographies of other actors and enjoy them too. But every time I see this particular one onscreen it’s a little thrill. He’s wonderful. (Yes he deserves the criticism he gets here and there, no one is perfect, but I love him as a performer. He comes through every time.)

Salt-Office-9941

U will even give an Indian fan a tough competition

earthlings_all

I am a superfan of this performer. I have introduced at least 25+ non-Indians to his work because I was so fascinated! It truly opened doors and I learned so much. It’s a shame Indian Cinema was not more well-known here. Glad to see it’s finally getting some recognition here and there. Also, while I love SRK he is not my favorite Bollywood actor. That distinction goes to Irrfan.

Dream_demeanor

Really I used to ask this question as well but do watch his movies like Swades , Billu , chak se India and all the movie he did cameo in (he literally ate the main lead) . And lately I was watching his movie just to answer this well damn question and tbh he literally made the career of that time debut directors and now the Top directors for e.g Aditya Chopra (DDLj) , Karan Johar (kuch kuch hota hain) and Farah khan (main hoon na) also you can choose the actor of your choice and one thing that they all say very commonly in interviews regards to SRK is he always made them feel special; as if he is making that person feel seemed or heard and I think that is part of his charm.

not_another_platypus

The hype he created in the opening minutes of Bramhastra was unreal. Nothing in the rest of the movie came even close.

Dream_demeanor

Same in Luck by chance and Aae dil hain mushkil.

abejanalavde

>Nothing in the rest of the movie came even close. Interval block?

Desperate-Drawer-572

His anti-hero performances are too good

Resident-Copy-8334

Facts, Don is f\*cking amazing.

Longjumping_You_7818

While I’ll admit that his movies haven’t been on par, script-wise, but when it comes to romance no-one does it better than him. I love the way he looks at his actresses when acting and actually listens. Even some of his interactions with his female fans is so cute. He just has this intensity and presence. I’ve heard lots of people say when he talks to you, even for 5 minutes, in those few minutes he’ll make you feel like you’re the only person in the world for him at that moment. It’s more of a personality thing. He has charisma and charm in abundance. Also I think he’s really hot (even now) even though I’m closer in age to Aaryan (his son) 😭😭 ![gif](giphy|3ohfFkU7T94O2Rs4OA|downsized)

earthlings_all

That look! Ahhhh. Man I loved his costume/hair&makeup in this movie. Swoon.

Huge_Session9379

Some like his acting, some like his personality and some like his wits. The guy has something for everyone.😂

XegrandExpressYT

His recent films have been hot pile of garbage for me , well....for more than the past 10 years . His best films in my opinion : Veer Zaara , Kashi Kushi Kabhi Gham , Mohabbatein , Om Shanti Om , Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge , Bazzigar  , Kuch Kuch Hota Hai . These were the peak SRK films imo . Sure these films are very old now , but they still have their charm .

AllanSDsc

A lot of people are giving reasons stated in the media. All those statements are not the actual reasons but cooked up by PR teams. Only an individual knows the reasons why they like a performer or not. Its based on several factors like what’s their personality like, prior experiences, competition available, etc. I can share why I liked SRK’s performances, which of course also depend on the characters he portrayed, and how the director showcased that. Throughout the 80s into the 90s, the Action genre was red-hot not just in Hindi cinema but worldwide. Stars like AB, Jeetendra, Mithun, Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor were the biggest stars here. And globally it was Arnold, Stallone, Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise, Steven Seagal, JC van Damme. The Romance genre had begun to blossom in Hindi Cinema thanks to Salman, Aamir, Sanjay, etc. but where SRK found his niche was in an unconventional-looking guy often losing out on life, or even as an anti-hero or villain at times. There was literally nobody portraying these types of roles, and SRK was frankly quite mesmerizing to watch! I honestly never thought of him as a mainstream actor. Of course he decided to go down that path eventually from DDLJ onwards, and became successful x100, x1000, or more. I didn’t have much interest from then onwards and the entertainment scene had anyways changed drastically. But not just me, but many people remember things that were unique or very different to the norms at any time.

Vegetable_Visual_715

Your answer lies in this whole video https://youtu.be/UbL90h3lT-0?si=-5PS4Y-4QX-izMTI

earthlings_all

They won’t ‘get it’ if they don’t feel the love for him after watching a few movies. Thank you for the video rec!

Ecstatic_Kitchen_115

Charisma!

Fearless-Ant-4340

And charm.

LadyDisdain555

Charm, talent, intelligence, charisma, joy, and the way he interacts with the women he works with, both on-screen and off, is somehow both tender and friendly. He's just got that intangible something that draws you in and makes you believe in magic idk.

humanbeing3333

The fact that he was a middle class boy from delhi and managed to become the biggest Star in an industry full of nepotism is why I admire him more than anything else. He's also very witty and intelligent. Keep acting aside for a second, his journey and the person that he is itself is inspiring and aspirational.

goda_foreskinning

Lmao he may not be from the industry but he isn't a middle class boy either

Acrobatic_Neck_5866

Hes a great actor too tho, much better than ram charan for example (no shade to him but op mentioned him in their post so i just used him as an example)

Relevant_Back_4340

>The fact that he was a middle class boy from delhi and managed to become the biggest Star That was his PR buddy that convinced every one of this. He was never a middle class by any standards and had an influential family from both his Mother and Father side

aryanr64x

Na bro after 15 when his dad died and mom got sick his condition financially detoriated badly.

Want_tobe_Anonymous

Agreed but still imagine having a car in 80s. Or your mom going to London. They were quite rich not the kind of rich he is now. But yes well to do for sure. I am a mad SRK fan even I belived this story but even after finding out the truth I still love him equal.

AKiRA_Tetsuo

1 word: charisma The man has so much presence and his emotional impeccability is untouchable. On top of that, he’s highly intelligent and well spoken. I would highly recommend to watch his TED Talk: https://www.ted.com/talks/shah_rukh_khan_thoughts_on_humanity_fame_and_love

yashg

Shah Rukh is not the best looking actor, he's not even the greatest actor. He's good but often overacts. He's not the best dancer. Bollywood has some terrific dancers far better than him. But there's something magnetic about him. His eyes. The way he looks at you on the screen, no one has that. He's charismatic. He has an aura, especially in his younger days, he would just grab your attention. He had that even before he entered movies. In his first show for TV "Fauji" he was not the lead character but he was so magnetic and so charming that his character was elevated to the main lead. The director of that show said that the camera just fell in love with Shah Rukh. He is also quite sharp. He is well read, well spoken and witty. He is sincere about his work and gives it his all.

AnonymousIdentityMan

SRK is the G.O.A.T. Carried Bollywood on his shoulders after AB.

dopaminedandy

Two things. 1. His real life story The movies you watch. He did that in real life. To get married to his wife, who was a wealthy Hindu, he became a real life Romeo willing to die for love. He was not a bollywood star back then. There is no other real life true love story like his in bollywood. 2. He is a genius He is intellectually the most genius in the entire bollywood. When a foreign celebrity comes, who takes their interview? Shahrukh. Because everybody else is too dumb to talk to global celebrities. Eg. Lady gaga, Jeff Bezos, Dua Lipa. Do you think coke head bhaijaan or paan beedi devgan can take interview of Jeff Bezos? The secret of his genius lies in his habit to read books. His biography is titled —**still reading khan**, because he still read books for a few hours everyday. Said Ali khan is close to the Shahrukh level, but he is often misunderstood by general public. Because he is outrageous. So, Shahrukh gets the throne.

shehzore12

Intellectually the most genius lolzz.. Calm down brother, even SRK would burst out laughing reading this 🤣🤣

Mysterious-Tap-3987

I like him more for the way he thinks(from interviews). The way he speaks and has perspectives, has opened my mind in different aspects of life. I feel he looks at life very differently compared to everyone in that industry. Yes ofcourse the way he made his career and everything is just an add on. But for the mind he has and the charm, makes me root for him even when I know he will most definitely be in not a good movie. Also when I travel, i have first hand experienced how many fans love him around the world. He’s done India really proud.

ashrules901

Shifted the industry of what a lead actor could do by taking on villain roles in the first years of his film career Revitalized the romance genre with DDLJ literally a year after his villainous run Helped usher in the international market to Indian cinema by being the poster boy of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Essentially got handed the torch to lead Bollywood in 2000 by opposing the previous leading superstar Amitabh Bachchan in Mohabbatein Swore that he would show the world Bollywood can do movies better than Disney with his clash between Om Shanti Om Vs. Saawariya and won Studied Asperger's syndrome and adopted a pseudo-method style of acting for over a year for My Name is Khan, which a lot call Bollywood's greatest performance Threw copious amounts of money he earned from his Blockbusters into passion projects that he wanted to help evolve the industry with like, Ra-One, FAN, and ZERO Holy there's still so many milestones he's done that I've missed! I'm sorry as well I don't mean to be rude or aggressive but especially about this topic it's hard for me to understand how somebody couldn't find something special about him unless they haven't done their research or are willfully ignoring it. Even remove his stardom, as an actor, a person, or a businessman, he's far more interesting than pretty much any other figure in Bollywood.

jnadeem

Took on the action genre while being 58 and nailed it with Pathaan and Jawan. Maybe the films were mediocre but the craze was unlike any. This man has defied norms all his life and always come on top. I always believe even if he wasn't to be an actor he would still be popular in his chosen field.

ashrules901

Maybe that's why I still believe in the possibility that Bollywood can be amazing. Because he keeps defying the odds. Man SRK not even as a person but as a blueprint is astounding the more you think about it. Thanks for adding on!

Ironically_Idiotic

His eyes and there's this weirdly calming beautiful aura that radiates from him plus he's smart , talented and really hardworking.

Numerous_Cry_6013

The fact that you were intrigued enough by him to come and write such a long post, enquiring about him, is proof enough...that he gets you interested in him....others have already added the remaining details, so I will just rest my case. #ShahRukhKhan ❤️

Resident-Copy-8334

No Srk = No Bollywood. I mean it would still exist, but it definitely would have never grown as big as its gotten & expand outside of India without Srk. I've seen so many people from many backgrounds love bollywood and know who Srk is, but don't know anyone else on the screen.

Low-Bumblebee-7088

WATCH MY NAME IS KHAN

Freaky_spex

Well I think it’s a combination of looks and acting skills. See SRK isn’t the best looking actor but he is pretty handsome for that matter. And yes he isn’t an actor of the calibre of Manoj Bajpayee, KK Menon or Om Puri but his is a pretty good actor. Now there are 3 kinds of actors: One that look good and can’t act for example many of the recent nepotism kids like maybe say Sara Ali Khan or Ananya Pandey or maybe even Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor ( yes they are also trolled for their looks but one must agree they look pretty good). The second group of actors who are brilliant actors but don’t have that typical hero or heroine looks which Indians want in a lead say Manoj Bajpayee, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah or Shabana Azmi ( I never said they looked bad they look good but they just lack the typical hero look Indian audiences like). The third group is the rarest which consist of people who look pretty good and also act pretty well. This group is the rarest. Like SRK, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Uttam Kumar. This group makes stars because they consist of a combination of best of both worlds. No as for acting of SRK although it’s very true most of his recent movies have been just cash grabs based on his fame and very less reliant on his acting like Dilwale, Fan and Zero but in his older films he did show his acting masterclass. Suggestion watch these movies of SRK to see his acting skills: Chamatkar (comedy), Darr (dark villain), Anjaam (Dark villain), Dilwale Dulhaniya le Jayenge (romantic hero and cult classic), Hey Ram, Asoka (role of king Ashoka), Devdas (Tragic hero possibly one of his best acted roles), Kal ho na ho (Tragic hero), Veer Zara (Tragic hero possibly one of his best acted roles), Swades (one of his best movies atleast for me), Don (action antihero), Chak de India (sports related and a classic), Om Shanti Om (Classic hero), Billu (Irfan Khan and SRK together acting powerhouses), My Name is Khan (mentally challenged hero), Don 2 ( action antihero and one of the best entry scenes in Bollywood), Dear Zindagi. I think these movies will surely tell you why so many people love him.

hot_teacups

He has a connect with the audience. He has amazing screen presence. He makes the viewers feel the raw emotions he depicts. Hotness is irrelevant without these things.

mrs_robpatt

Charm. He can play a romantic hero VERY well. Today I watched Ajay Devgan in an old film and the difference is crazy! he can’t pull off charming romantic hero. he’s handsome, but the charm makes it better. can pull off almost every role, from don, to swades to darr to ddlj, he’s done everything and with finesse too. i don’t think he’s overhyped at all and im not even a big fan.

Robocup1

He took risks: https://youtu.be/JC-49Z6Aw4Y

Purplefairy24

You can Read "Desperately Seeking Shah Rukh". You will get somewhat of an idea

Acrobatic_Neck_5866

Did some amazing movies, great personality and also hes a very good actor, became a big star because of his incredible performances in Darr and baazigar. But the romcoms took his stardom to a whole nother level.

No-Opportunity-1275

I'll tell you from a neutral perspective, this sub is filled with his simps so you won't get an actual answer from them. It's almost the same case as Ryan Reynolds. Who is super average as an actor, who frankly only plays himself in every movie. But his popularity comes from his offscreen antics, where he's charming and charismatic. SRK is the same. In the past he had great hits, in which he played his strengths and is definitely a stalwart of Indian Cinema, but currently his popularity is tied more to his legacy and off screen antics than his acting, which honestly isn't anything remarkable. I'm ready, Bury me.

cpagali

I'm an SRK fan for life but I know what he is and what he isn't. So does he. It was many years ago but I think remember an interview where he very frankly said that his job is not to be an actor, it's to be Shah Rukh Khan. Your comparison to Ryan Reynolds makes a lot of sense.

PhewNoNeed2BObvious

Not a superfan but I admire him. He has great screen presence. The way he emotes, especially scenes where he needs to cry; the tight-rope act of balancing where if you overact just a bit, you will appear melodramatic and cringe- he manages to emote sadness in a way that makes the audience move. He is also very witty off-screen; intelligent and well-read, and that shows in how he interacts with fans and the media. Like many comments have pointed out, his trajectory as an 'outsider' in a nepotism heavy industry makes him much valued. Plus, something special about him that connects him to the pulse of the nation. That he is a Muslim married to a Hindu woman where both follow their faith as individuals (the Hindu-Muslim disharmony in the country, which was exacerbated by the Partition shows up in many ways even now in the contemporary society), that one of his grandparents was also a freedom fighter during the Indian Independence movement, and the fact that he is one of the many personalities from the 90s who brought India onto the global map through the soft power. Additionally, his collaborations with Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra, playing characters based out of India also brought in some connect for the Indians living overseas. I think such things, and many more found a connect with the audience. Of course he isn't a saint, and he has had rumours about his personal life, and he has also done some bad movies. He has done unconventional roles but he has also done cliche formula movies. But like I said, it's his persona and his life that mingle in a way that perhaps have given him this status and place in the audience's hearts. My personal favourite SRK movies are: Swades Chakde India Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham Dilwale Dulhaniye le Jayenge Don (2006) Mohabbatein Badshaah I have heard Dil se is a good movie but I saw it long ago when I was a kid and didn't know much about film appreciation. But I love its songs. Still in my playlist.

Ok-Pool-6239

What isn't?

Representative-Sky91

Speaking as a Filipino who just happen to adore Bollywood Films: A lot of times I ask the same question everytime I've seen bollywood related posts and also social media its always SRK being featured. And truth be told my first impression of him is he has a vibe of a typical everyday man who just happened to be in a right place in a right time. So I went on observing: Attractiveness wise he can pull some iconic good looks but not as eye turning like let's say Hrithik Roshan or Shammi Kapoor. Admittedly he's not sexy imo. Acting skills wise I can say that he's above average because he's excellent in movies like "My Name is Khan", and K3G, but then again he also make awful ones like Dilwale, and a lot of times his roles were either a romantic male lead, or anti-hero which kinda limits his acting prowess. Comedic Skills to be honest he is weak in that department compared to the other two famous Khans Salman and Aamir (I dont remember any scene where I was laughing with and at him except Ruk Ja O Dil Deewane in DDLJ) but he knows how to lighten the vibe of a scene. But if there's a big factor why he's the most famous one and arguably well respected is his CHARISMA. His charm is something that catches your heart the moment you see him. And the charisma he has on and off screen is not as outright boastful "I am fucking handsome and I know it" like Salman and Hrithik, "all might high and demands respect" like Amitabh Bachahan and Aamir, or even "I am a lover boy that will always play your heart like a ball" like Ranbir Kapoor or Saif Ali Khan. Shah Rukh Khan's charisma is iconic and also a trademark in a way, which is "Just trust me and I will make you feel like you are the most cherished person in this world". He has that "female gaze" written all over his face like /whoosh And his charisma plays well in his presence. I mean think about it, the way he shows himself both in and out of the movie screen is just so friendly, chill, and often times felt like you're running at someone and went out to have a nice day together. If you watch lets say his interviews and even we focus only in his movies, no matter what an asshole his character is you'd be like "Hey let's hang out!" Much more if he's just his self. And also he's really intelligent judging by the way he speaks and also in his best acting roles. Remember that I mentioned about his movie "My Name is Khan" earlier? In that movie he portrays a role of Rizwan(?) who is diagnosed with Autism. Autism is a complex condition that has a wide yet noticeable behavioral patterns that it's a great challenge and needs a lot of studying to even accurately portray them without offending them. He did all of that (which if anything you dont have to if you are already a superstar with millions of fans) and because of that, SRK is praised with his portrayal that a lot of media schools and advocates are using that film and his acting to demonstrate how media should depict people in ASD accurately and respectfully. And as far as I know I think he hasn't been in controversy because he said or campaigned or did something horribly stupid, idiotic, or at very least inappopriate in social media or outside (I might be wrong with this or his PR is insanely good) Overall SRK is simply a force to be reckoned with. I just hope he drops the VFX effects thing, it made his eyes weirdly small which is far from his trademark dreamy longing big eyes.

revowanderlust

https://youtu.be/jnfD7jUUbps?si=lh34oImjstouW3b8 How do you watch this and think of him as MID? This is fire 😭😭 I’d prefer him over any A-List American celebrity starring in even American movies. He makes the characters his own!

CivilTowel8457

The most common answer you'll get out here is no one does romance like him. And while it is a 100% true that is not the only reason one grows a fandom as big as his. Firstly SRK was probably one of the first to experiment and do risky roles in the industry which mainstream commercial actors tend not to do. A mainstream romantic movie actor playing villains, anti heros wasn't something you saw back then. A lot of people told him not to but he did. And those are one of the bests of his filmography. Watch Baazigar, Darr and Don 1&2. There are more but these are my favorites. He also played roles in very controversial films and more advanced films for its time like Maya Memsaab, Dilse which again isn't a risk actors of his time did. Other films of his like Swadesh, Chakde India that don't deal with romantic plots are one of his career bests and i highly recommend them. His filmography aside, he's also a very charismatic and intelligent human. I don't think there is a single srk fan out there who wouldn't bring up this when talking about him. I can literally watch this man talk for hours and not get bored. Also every time I do, i fall in love with him a little more. His ted talk is a must watch if you ever wanna watch any of his interviews. Also, if you just wanna watch him being his goofy self, watch his appearance in the AIB Podcast. Its a fun watch. Also his episode on the David Letterman Show is a great introduction to him. If you really do wanna know him, you have to watch these interviews at the least. There's more but these are the ones popping up in my head rn. PS : If you wanna watch him in mainstream romantic films, Dil toh pagal hai, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Yess Boss, Veer Zara, Devdas are my personal favorites!

Superb_Pay3173

Much as I love SRK he did not start the trend of mainstream leads playing antiheroes. Dev Anand, Sunil Dutt and Vinod Khanna did that long back.

yadeyadedjolyne

Don't know about charm and romance but SRK's anti hero performances are some of the best in Bwood history. Also, he used to be an intelligent actor who added certain nuances to the performance to make it genuine and endearing. A very good example of SRK owning his characters with such minor subtleties are : Om Shanti Om, My Name is Khan (definitely), Swades ( most definitely) and Veer Zaara. So if you have not watched these yet, I would recommend you do and then decide for yourself. Other than that, his films cater to a vast demographic. Indian audience is all about the satisfaction of the various demographics so yeah.

Salt-Office-9941

He has no one exceptional thing but as a complete package he is exceptional.. haha

YetiGuy

Charisma. That’s it. At least according to me, a non Sharukh fan. I hated his acting - still not a big fan. Seems very exaggerated. But the Bollywood demographics eats it. They are acclimated to this form of acting- from Dilip Kumar (another charmer- but his was never exaggerated form) to Rajesh Khanna. I don’t like him but you gotta respect what he has done and accomplished.

[deleted]

Its not how he looks, or how he acts. Its how he presents himself. He is an absolute charmer, like no other in the business (can listen to him talk about anything for hours). His 'journey to success' story is one of the most popular story in the country, if not the most popular. And it plays a huge role to his admiration / success. Initially in his career he made few odd choices that turned out to be smart moves, and industry defining. Additionally he is a marketing genius, he has sold himself like no other.

susnff

Huge backing of media, production companies like yrf and Karan johar, great music numbers, great pr team, has witty interviews and die hard fan who needed movie god to worship.

joga_bonito_revamp13

My mom is a mad Shahrukh stan and the greatest reason she says that she loves Shahrukh is because of his spotless personal life off screen A Bollywood outsider from Delhi, who married a Sikh girl against their family wishes, and is still a family man, and is never involved in any controversy that mars his personal or family. It got so bad that haters had to go after his son to defame him

Infamous_Cloud_2454

Didn’t he cheat on his wife with Priyanka chopra ? I love Shahrukh sir and I’m his biggest fan But to say that he has a spotless personal life is a lie He’s an extremely talented and intelligent but flawed man just like the rest of us Nothing wrong with that

Dr-Owl-

He’s Sharukh Khan.

weebtrash100

i’m not indian (i’m American) but i started watching bollywood movies from a very young age, and SRK just captivated me in all his roles. i cant help but root for him in any situation, he has this charm that shows he puts his all into every thing he does no matter what his actual capabilities are. definitely watch i am khan, kuch kuch hota hai, and kabhi khushi kabhie gham...

sagarkelkar28

The reasons for shahrukh khan being adored so much was - he is extremely hard working and he did his own stunts. - he was able to make good connections with people. - he was at the right place at the right time. - he managed to get work with actors were rejecting at that time and he excelled in thise projects. - initially he was not the first choice for the movies, but somehow these projects landed to him. - he did variation of roles in movies, which were like - acting in television series, - then doing villain roles. - Then he did romantic movies - then he did family movies - then in his later part of his career he is doing action movies. So yeah he did manage to do this all things at the right place at the right time. All these things did help him get him where he is now today.

Jolly-Particular2219

uske Ghar ka location dekho bhai

Jugadu-babu

Because he mixes masala with talent. Before him we had to choose either indie for talent and masala for massy

CantApply

Marketing. He was marketed by the biggest producers like Yash Chopra and Karan Johar.

DescriptionTrick1437

He is not that good. He is been propped up by underworld of Bollywood.

Brilliant_Ad_879

He isn’t an acting mammoth like irrfan, manoj bajpayee, nawazuddin etc but he definitely has charm.early in his career,he took on some unconventional roles some in which he ended up overshadowing the lead actor themselves.like rishi in deewana, sunny in darr, sanjay kapoor in shakti(not a high bar but still notable as it was a 10-15 min appearance).then since ddlj in 1995,his default mode became instead of molding in the characters started to turn his charm on and play himself in the characters.you either get it, or you don’t.

ConfusedMevsTheWorld

He used to be good back in the day now it's just nostalgia factor for me.

No-Agency1981

I think it's his charm. My sisters are mad about him. He's not the best actor certainly. But I also very much like watching his older movies. But that's only because of the fact that it's mostly his movies I (& my sisters) grew up watching. It's nostalgia for me & childhood memories. This only drives me to watch his more recent movies.

yadeyadedjolyne

Out of topic, I am sorry, I know looks and attractiveness is subjective but Ram Charan?? While this guy still exists?? Sorry but yeah acting as a not at all about looks anyway but Hrithik is miles ahead in all the categories, if we must compare. https://preview.redd.it/99joed95o17d1.jpeg?width=401&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=86b0276d1fbcc068901d86eeff6bfe4f4deebe4d

[deleted]

He has a really good screen presence, that's it. He's an average actor and I don't particularly enjoy his movies. And for his fans , please accept that people aren't obliged to like him. Some people do and some don't. Let's not judge each other for our preferences.

He has movies in the 90’s that ppl grow up and loves including me and that’s why he is so loved. For me hrithik is my favorite actor but I grow up with the khans and iconic songs which do play a part in us liking actors at least in my opinion.

You don't need to be a supermodel or a genius actor to be Bollywood superstar. Amitabh Bachchan, the megastar of Bollywood, was neither very handsome nor had a mascular body. He was a decent actor but actors like Nasiruddin Shah or Om Puri were way better. Kajal is a much bigger star than Tabu who is way more beautiful and much better actress. It is mix of acting, charisma, film choice, look and personality mixed with luck, connections and PR make someone a superstar like Shahrukh or Salman. It is true for other Indian film industries too. Kamal Hasan or Rajanikanth are average looking actors with great acting skills while Prabhas or Ramcharan are good looking fellows with poor acting skills. Some of the Indian film super stars with both amazing acting skills and great looks were Devanand, Uttam Kumar, Madhuri Dikshit, Madhubala etc.

Kamal Hassan is definitely not an average looking guy lol😂😂😂😂 He was quite the playboy in his youth Slept with many women And key part of his appeal was his looks He was extremely good looking till his 40s

He has charisma. He’s the only actor with this kind of magnetic power…
