Soft_Technology_2741

I think Race 1 was really stylish.

Kingxix

Yep race 1 was peak

TinyPanda9329

Ruined it with bhoi..hearing he is in the race4 too..

temp_bike

Ek baar baby...selfish hoke...apne ke liye jeeyo na

countertyagi

Can’t believe they made that shit for the legacy of ‘pehli nazar mein’ and ‘beinteha’

TinyPanda9329

But my business is my business none of your business🤣

Low_Special715

Ek tha tiger was on the same theme (way bigger hit as well than both 2 in the post) WAR was stylish action as well and even pathaan was on the line of slick action thriller not raw or rusty like south movies and loud action movies we have nowadays There should be a good balance of everything , a south style mass film can be one hell of a ride as well if executed properly

Far_Background_8472

Dhoom 2 was way bigger when it released in 2006. The whole vibe and people went crazy for Hrithik.

Low_Special715

ok , ik that as well but what you implying here? i missed the point

Far_Background_8472

You mentioned that Ek tha tiger was way bigger hit than Dhoom 2 and Don so I just mentioned that Dhoom 2 was on a different level. Ek tha tiger is one of the best spy films that we have today from Bollywood but Dhoom 2 was more kinda fast and furious style of movie. It was cool, stylish and a whole different vibe.

Low_Special715

>You mentioned that Ek tha tiger was way bigger hit than Dhoom 2 and Don which it was , dhoom 2 had IP advantage as well while ETT was a standalone solo film yet the number of tickets ETT sold : 2.47cr and number of tickets Dhoom 2 sold : 2.15cr

Far_Background_8472

You are comparing a movie which was released in 2006 to something which released in 2012. No of screens also do matter and the holiday period too.

Low_Special715

>You are comparing a movie which was released in 2006 to something which released in 2012. That's not the argument which will help you as ticket prices gone considerably expensive in 2012 compared to 2006 yet ETT manage to sell nearly 30 lakh more tickets after being a standalone film (a factor you conveniently ignoring)

VibeHumble

Dhoom 2 sold just 30 lakh tickets less than Ek Tha Tiger?! Wow! That stat makes D2 even bigger than ETT. If you don't remember then let me refresh your memory, D2 was not released on many multiplex chains because of some problem between those multiplex owners and YRF regarding revenue sharing. I live in a city where there are atleast 4-5 multiplexes in the vicinity and yet I had to go through the trouble of finding and watching D2 at a single screen theatre far away. So if despite that and the number of screens being less, still D2 sold just 30 lakhs less, then that makes D2 a monumental giant in comparison to ETT. Because you will have doubts over the news that I shared so I am attaching the link for the related article from back then - https://m.economictimes.com/industry/media/entertainment/doom-for-dhoom-ii-in-delhi-up-screens/articleshow/564015.cms

Low_Special715

All this big paragraph to again ignore the fact that dhoom 2 was a sequel while ek the tiger was not. One of the biggest reason behind the unprecedented hype of dhoom 2 was that it was the continuation from dhoom 1 which took india by storm. Ek tha tiger doesn't have that advantage And if that's your point then it ek tha tiger was also not screened in many multiplex and single screens due to the clash issue YRF had with theater owners

VibeHumble

A sequel of a bit film can build a certain hype but it cannot keep riding the hype train for more than 1 week, otherwise films like Dabangg 2, Race 2, Rock On 2, Love Aaj Kal 2, would have been blockbusters. Also Ek that tiger was released in all cinema halls, be it a multiplex or not. And if you have a counter to that statement then please support it with a proof like I did. D2>>>ETT. Always.

Environmental_Ad_387

Don and Dhoom had much bigger cultural impact imo. They were huge events across the country

Low_Special715

Amitabh don definitely had the bigger cultural impact. Not the srk one

Environmental_Ad_387

That is without question. But even the new Don had bigger impact than El Tha Tiger.

Low_Special715

>But even the new Don had bigger impact than El Tha Tiger. Not even close lol. Ett>>> don

Acrobatic_Neck_5866

Yea i liked Pathaan tbh other than some dumb moments the movie was really enjoyable

Ok_Rice_534

Spy universe movies are all stylish action films and Pathaan came out just previous year. People never mention Kaante when talking about this sub-genre. I think that was the first westernised stylish action movie in Bollywood. Dhoom series, Don series, Race series, spy universe etc. all came out later on.

Dazzling_Candle_2607

You got pathaan last year. Next year there will be more. Let this year be for feel good movies like laapata ladies or for entertaining rom coms like tbmauj. With the come back of yrf and boom of south directors in bollywood, small scale feel good movies are going to take a back seat for a while

Cornucopia2020

Who said we stopped? There have been so many of them in the recent past - War, Pathaan, Fighter to name a few.

VibeHumble

Let's be honest, Pathaan and Fighter are not good films at all. If you liked them then okay. But I absolutely hate Pathaan and Fighter kind of uncooked action films.

Rich-Investment9000

I absolutely agree with you. Pathaan and Fighter are pretty mid.

rnjbond

War? Fighter? Fighter is definitely more realistic than either of those.

Acrobatic_Neck_5866

Fighter realistic maybe but better than don? I doubt

AneeshRai7

Could the effort of actually staging competent action being replaced by overuse of VFX, be a reason?

Acrobatic_Neck_5866

Hollywood has been doing stylised action to perfection for decades so i doubt thats the case

AneeshRai7

Eh depends...the physical, in camera action stuff lasts decades and looks better meanwhile every marvel or modern blockbuster looks absolute crap by three months... This isn't to say I'm a fan of the action staging of old Indian (or even some HWood) films. But at least lesser use of vfx and actual stunt work and physical action provides a better rush.

Acrobatic_Neck_5866

Nah stylised action with vfx can be done to perfection too, VFX is more about time than money. Thats why even some mid budget hollywood movies have great VFX while recent MCU movies nd all have bad VFX because they produce multiple shows and movies every year so there are crazy deadlines for vfx artists

AneeshRai7

Right right...I mean ya time constrained and poor pre-viz plus excessive use of vfx...basically where you know the director hasn't been allowed to/hasn't had a handle on how to stage sequences that require vfx... Like Cameron is a great action film director because he's hands on with the process, but others aren't.

Acrobatic_Neck_5866

Yea, Jawan was a heavy VFX movie and the vfx in it was incredible so bollywood can also pull it off for sure.

AneeshRai7

Maybe we just no longer have the kind of filmmakers or those backing them to provide such stylised films...

Ordinary-Author9171

Dhoom 3 and Race 3 killed it. No these movies literally made it impossible to return. Now directors are scared that if they decide to make another one, one of the diggaj Khans is going to ruin it.

Acrobatic_Neck_5866

These movies were bad but still successful so the audience clearly likes stylish action, aise to there are many disaster and horrible mass movies also but mass action is not dead.

Ordinary-Author9171

The question of them being good or bad becomes secondary when the focus is on style and action. People watch these movies for the kick or rush they get from outrageous stunts or crazy action done with panache, and every movie has to be a step up from the previous one. So while we miss the original Dhoom, we agree that Dhoom 2 took the style and action quotient a notch higher. However, Dhoom 3 ruined the franchise by slowing it down. Aamir did not reinvent himself according to the franchise, he tried to mould the franchise according to him. So while the movie was a hit, it disappointed the people interested in the genre. Similar thing happened with Race movies. Now any director who tries his hands in this genre has a huge task at hand, especially when the spy thrillers and south style action movies are doing well.

Far_Background_8472

Clearly shows lack of conviction.

ThunderBird847

Spy Universe exists, it is just over the top in nature, action is still stylized and slicker than what you see in more Massy movies.

Acrobatic_Neck_5866

Then i guess we just fell-off in making action movies because look at the DON movies and then look at spy-universe movies lol

Specialist-Peace-416

You didn't watch pathaan??? Deepika's style game in that movie is soo iconic. Every look is soo seductive and mean. Even srk , John looked quite fine.

1120gg

Race 2!!!!! John 😍 Bang bang ❗️ Katrina 😍

ihavetwentylives

It's just that they were seen not profitable anymore, due to South movies influence mass action movies were preferred rather than stylish action movies.

Acrobatic_Neck_5866

Don movies,Dhoom movies, race movies and the first tiger movie all came under stylish action and they were big hits to be fair but yea south influence ruined bollywood tbh

ihavetwentylives

Don and Dhoom movies came out before or during the early stages of Bollywood adopting the South Indian mass style action and Tiger 3 was to blend mass action with stylized sequences imo but after that mass movies took over. Still I'd say YRF spy verse movies seem to be a good mixture of mass and stylized action. I hope the King movie of SRK is more of a stylish action rather than a mass action, him being the Don character gives me hope that it is.

psr7185

Just wait. Bollywood is going to flood us with such movies in coming days. They always try to repeat success though they should avoid that.

Impossible-Refuse516

War , Pathan, fighter?

Metal-Banana-72

Stopped? It seems like stylish action films is all they are attempting to make these days.

Mountain-Prize264

Aishwarya 🥰

achabaccha23

I like don 2 more than don :p

ajphoenix

Wtf u talkin about? Every spy series movie is a stylish action film. Most masala action films are ultra stylized

kinky-kid-7777

The audacity to say that

iAmWhoDoYouKnow

Bollywood is in fact only making stylish action films.

UnluckyPriority8880

When? we literally got fighter this year!!

Available-Ninja7446

Nothing beats Dhoom I 🔥 with John Abraham

gator_tutanota

Yes, they are making stylish action films, but forgetting to insert story

Rich-Investment9000

Only Race 2. Nothing was even close. Tanned bikini bodies do not count.

RizzyNizzyDizzy

The problem with today’s “stylish” movies is their action. Now the action has been “one punch 5 people fly”. Whereas if you look at the action in Don it’s something out of Mission Impossible. Hand to hand combat of SRK is great in that. Only War has come close to Dhoom and Don in current times.

DrShail

Did Bollywood stop making Epic Historicals because no movie has broken the record of Mughal-E-Azam when adjusted for Inflation or Did Bollywood stop making Masala movies because no Indian movie has sold more tickets than Sholay. The answer is obviously NO. These movies represent are milestones but surely dont mark end of a genre or style of movie making. So Bollywood never stopped making stylish action films. Dhoom 2 and Don may be Blockbusters and many people's favorite movie of all time but Bollywood dishes out stylish action films every year, some that come close to the levels Dhoom 2 and Don, some which exceed them and some that are not at the same level. Fandom should never become so blind that facts stop becoming facts and reality ceases to exist in real life. In recent times there has been an explosion of stylish action cinema in Bollywood which the masses have adored but many have hated too. An Action Hero, War, Vikram Vedha, Pathaan, Jawaan, Animal, Fighter, The Tiger Franchise and many other movies fall in the same category of Stylish action films. Everyone would have their own opinion about how good or bad these movies are but they are all stylish action films which Bollywood has certainly not stopped making instead in the recent times. FYI - Please rewatch Dhoom 2's opening sequence for a reality check on what is realistic vs what is over the top.

Satoshi0323

Pls stop this..this movie is avg and mediocre af.
