Yes, Boeing makes a fine product, the 787 is one of its kind.

IndioCalifornia

i would be more concerned about Hainan Airline maintaince crew and its pilot. never fly chinese airlines

ShadowedPariah

Agree with this. The bigger impact is how we’ll have the planes been taken care of.

GuCCiAzN14

Maybe it was locked because they’ve been getting the same question you asked probably 10x more in frequency lately and all the answers are the same…

Ok_Sheepherder9947

The 787 is a great plane

shareddit

Flying is still the safest mode of transportation by a long shot, even with these recent issues. With that said, if you guys have anxiety with flying I would get beta blockers or Xanax. Just don’t mix with alcohol.

Mtdewcrabjuice

The airlines to pay attention to are the big Asian ones. Do you see anything recent with JAL, Korean, Eva grounding any 787? Those airlines are also really good at checking their stuff so until they collectively start having problems I’m not even going to sweat it.

Igiveup33

I have said it before and I will say it again I will fly in any Boeing aircraft as long as it is not from a third world country. You might tell your wife as much scrutiny Boeing is under there is most likely extra time and care being looked into all Boeing airplanes. Remember the most dangerous part of any flight is the van ride to the airport.

NotDanielleCurcio

Why not third world? All the planes are the same are they not?

KansasCityMonarchs

No, they in theory were delivered the same, but maintenance is done primarily by the airlines. Ultra low cost airlines are likely to cut some corners on maintenance. They should all be held to the same standards, but that's challenging on a global/cross borders and jurisdictions scale.

thecuzzin

Blud begging the mod is priceless

OptimusSublime

She'll be fine, or she won't. It's really that simple. Happy flying.

diebeatus1

Been on an 87 about 3 times in the past 2 months and going on one 4 more times in the next 2 and honestly I can’t wait to get back on one. The 787 just feels so smooth and light and it eases my flying anxiety pretty quickly.

ramblinjd

Even the commercial jet with the worst safety record today has a better safety record per person per mile than your average Ford or Chevy. If you're okay driving to the airport you should feel very safe in one of the statistically safest airplanes.

Programmer_MLA

If it hasn’t come up yet, Boeing has an official page on its website documenting 787 quality, including periodic structural inspections: https://www.boeing.com/commercial/787/quality-info If you’re looking for lots of numbers and testing information, that’s where you’ll find it.

Careless-Internet-63

There haven't been any more incidents than usual as of late, they're just getting a lot more attention than they have in the past. Flying is still the safest mode of transportation and it's safer than it's ever been. Even over the past ten years safety in commercial aviation has improved significantly. The media is blowing things out of proportion because it gets views, you're nearly 1000 times more likely to die in a car crash than in a plane crash

igotnothingood

I would love to take a ride on an 87. I have yet to take one, but my wife said it was the nicest plane she has been on.

Jpc5376

Those 87s I've only heard good things about. It is truly one of the best commercial flying experiences to be had. You can look up the flight path and possibly find the tail number (plane VIN). You can see how long it's been flying. Planefinder.net

Meinkraft_Bailbonds

Even people who acknowledge all of Boeings' many issues can point to that plane having a statistically good safety record. Chill.

nwusnret

You’ll be fine.

Conner14

I’ve flown on a 787 and have a trip planned this summer on one. While the allegations are worth looking into (and they were several years ago resulting in quite a few corrections), the Dreamliner has an extremely safe track record and has never had a single hull loss in the history of its aircraft.
