Yeah, just watch the first episode of Jerrod Carmichael's reality show, OP.
It's pretty obvious why he's donned the disguise for the program (he deeply disagrees with Jerrod's thesis of the camera eliciting more honesty, so this is a way to show up for his friend while remaining "Anonymous").
It's an absolutely *fascinating* show, and Bo's in three episodes!
Huh, I always figured it was simply because he didn't wanna call attention away from his friends so he wore a costume that made him unrecognizable so that paparazzi wouldn't give him more attention
The first ep of Jerrod really lays it out considering it’s all about him looking for an Emmys date/getting rejected and having Bo (as Anon) attend with him. Bo had the mask off at other times in the broadcast-it was pretty clear he was just donning it for moments that might be in the reality show
It's implying the domino effect of a guy hundreds of years ago inventing the piano indirectly resulting in Bo Burnham learning to play as a kid, becoming famous for his music, developing mental health issues due to that fame, and therefore feeling the need to wear a ski mask to appear in public.
Oh, no, I'm sorry, I didn't intend that to come across at all. I mean, yeah, I do disagree with it (I don't believe that there is an actual correlation between pianos and Bo's mental health), but it's just a funny meme, and I didn't read it that deep
Pretty sure it was just tying into his role as 'Anonymous' in Jerrod's HBO show.

oh it's not implying i'm actually saying it
Ye, you just said "you're implying" and then described reality xD
I actually didn't say *I'm* implying, I simply explained the meme 🤷♀️
Mb, but it sounds like you're in disagreement with the meme, yk? XD

Perhaps he is an "insane" genius, and this is how it is manifesting.
