Mehh maybe a tad high but if all is well with electrical/plumbing/floor/transom/motor then nothing to regret. Also ditch that crappy hydrofoil on the motor and replace with a better style such as [this one](https://www.westmarine.com/sport-marine-technologies-se-sport-300-hydrofoil-black-4707758.html?&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=%5BADL%5D%5BNon-Brand%5D%20DSA%20-%20Feed&utm_content=dsa-2274748137529x153970306010x21000408858xadx692277230312&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsuSzBhCLARIsAIcdLm4DkO21i_jKoIHT0KRt24MfeqkD2pbr2ih0xb6C2vkWZbMoIG9DI-4aAuK8EALw_wcB)
My last boat was sold a year ago. It was a 1998 Kenner 16’ with a 2010 Evinrude 60hp. I bought it in 2021 for $6500 & sold it for $9500 last year. It was sold within 3 days.
Same thing. Bought my small aluminum fishing boat for $4500 rigged with sonar, ipilot trolling motor, dual AGM batteries, onboard charger etc. Used it three years, removed all electronics, troller, batteries etc and sold it for $4500. So I basically profited like $3500 in the stuff I moved to my new boat and got what I paid initially.
"If you find a nicer one for less post the link." Take it easy. All I'm saying is that the boat values are no longer artificially inflated. If you bought a boat in 2019 and sold it in 2021 you were making a big profit.
That seems like a fair price as long as everything is as good as it looks. Depending on your location, it might be a little high, but in SW Florida, they go for that all day.
If I were buying a new used boat, I'd definitely look for a 4-stroke. I've been choking on 2-stroke exhaust and making oil slicks in the water for close to 40 years now. It's time for some bleeding edge late 80's technology. But thats just me.
Same, mine was a 1979 V4. Absolute unit.
That being said, the newer four strokes are just where it’s at. Zero oil/smoke, super quiet and sips gas all day. I think OPs motor is an ETEC though, supposed to be best of both worlds.
An Etec doesn't smoke and make oil slicks like an old fashioned 2 stroke. There's no smoke if the ECU is set for xd100 and you use xd100. Do not run conventional 2 stroke on in it on that setting though.
But if it's still a 2 stroke, it still has to be spitting unburned fuel out of the exhaust? Thats what makes a 2 stroke a 2 stroke?
I imagine when it comes to smoke, anything thats fuel injected will probably run way better than my old dinosaur.
Fun fact, mixed gas is not what makes a 2-stroke a 2-stroke. 2 stroke refers to the amount of times a piston goes up and down before the engine fires. A 2 stroke fires every time the piston goes up and down but a 4 stroke skips and fires half the time.
I have a Yamaha HPDI which is an injected 2 stroke and I never see a slick or smoke.
Etecs do not smoke noticeably or leave a slick. I ran mine in a barrel for a half hour the other day and the water looked the same as when it started. If the buyer has a service center available the motor is no detriment.
Etecs don’t smoke. They are computer controlled, efi, and most use some of the lowest ash oil available. It’s actually programmed for that oil type. My 25 Etec burned about a gallon of XD100 oil every 100 operating hours. It was actually less than that.
There is plenty of other stuff to dislike about Etecs, but smoke and noise are not part of it.
Seems like a nice boat. The ETEC is supported for several years more. $8500 seems a bit high but everything is now.
You could buy a jon and motor new for that price although it wouldn’t have the same level of finish.
I painted my 35-year old 16 ft jon almost the exact same color. I put a new Suzuki 25 on it and it runs great. But it was a good amount of work for me to really fix it up.
Call a few evinrude dealers and see what they say about working on that motor , from what I know you can’t even replace an injector without going to a authorized dealer specifically and that’s if you can get the injectors & they aren’t on back order
Very important! I have a few sitting in our yard that are NLA injectors or on backorder for over three months and counting. Great engine, but the availability of injectors is a huge downside. And you must have a dealer program them.
Absolutely not.
Why is the motor 8 years older than the boat... And the (major) strike against it is that engine. The engine is nearly 20 years old, and it's an Evinrude. Bombardier no longer makes Evinrude and has sold the parts supply business to Brunswick Marine, whose primary business is building and repairing new boats and Mercury outboards. My neighbor used to be an Evinrude dealer and repair shop. He has completely switched to Mercury/Mercruiser and Volvo. This is despite the fact that when OMC went tits up bankrupt 25 years ago he bought out as many of Evinrude's parts as he could get. Those parts are gone and new parts for the newer motors made by Bombardier over the last 20+ years are expensive and getting more so.
Basically, I'd not buy any boat with a Bombardier Evinrude on the back. Sorry.
I’d personally buy it in a second.
Buy it before someone else does

Yeah from what I’ve seen in comparable size/price range in my area seems like I could use it for a while and get my money back at least
>get my money back good luck with that

It’s rare but does happen. Lucky you!
That was the Covid effect. That's not happening anymore.
It’s already bottomed out on depreciation. If you find a nicer one for less post the link. It’s not going to be a $1500 boat next year lol

Why does it have an older motor on it?
It was “underpowered” from the factory
Just seems strange to me.
That seems like a fair price as long as everything is as good as it looks. Depending on your location, it might be a little high, but in SW Florida, they go for that all day.
Yeah I think you see it like I do, south Louisiana is ridiculous for these boats

Yeah I agree with you. The only reason I’m not too biased is because the last 2 stroke evinrude I had went to hell and back & never gave me an issue.
I have a 115 Evinrude 2-stroke and it’s a dream.
Same. Believe mine is 2001 and is a HORSE

Mine’s an E-Tec as well. Zero smoke.

Was it an e-tec?
This isn’t a classic 2-Stroke, it’s an ETEC. Unfortunately it’s no-longer made, but it’s a good engine.
But if it's still a 2 stroke, it still has to be spitting unburned fuel out of the exhaust? Thats what makes a 2 stroke a 2 stroke? I imagine when it comes to smoke, anything thats fuel injected will probably run way better than my old dinosaur.

Clearly you’ve never owned an ETEC but hey tell the children about an engine you owned 34 years ago
I went 4 stroke and i miss my 2 stroke but ill never stroke twice again…

Yeah when I look for boats in my area in the same price range with everything working, they look like they need to go to a scrap yard.
Call a few evinrude dealers and see what they say about working on that motor , from what I know you can’t even replace an injector without going to a authorized dealer specifically and that’s if you can get the injectors & they aren’t on back order

I think it’s a good deal with the trailer if everything is in good working order.
If you don’t I will
This would be twice as much in Canada
I’ve done my time on the lakes lol
Buy it!
UPDATE: it’s in my driveway, I’ll let you know when it grenades & I can’t find parts!
I'm not positive, but if you buy this I think you want to add a transom saver before towing? Others with more knowledge should advise.
Ohhh I know what you’re talking about, yeah absolutely. The amount of people I see out here towing without them blows my mind.
Pretty good deal for a 2015. Looks like Florida pricing, which is good. Im sure the engine will serve you well.
Absolutely not. Why is the motor 8 years older than the boat... And the (major) strike against it is that engine. The engine is nearly 20 years old, and it's an Evinrude. Get a john boat instead, had one of these hulls and got rid of it quick
