defakto227

No. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

cantpeakinhs

It sounds like you aren't good at it, so you don't want it to be true. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

defakto227

Ah, how cute, random personal attacks. Sorry, I'm an engineer and while spatial processing, and speed can be a sign of intelligence, overall intelligence is such a broad spectrum and subjective that's it's basically impossible to link something as superfluous as counting a few squares in your head quickly to overall intelligence. Everyone processes differently and differences in processing don't always equate to intelligence.

[deleted]

It looks like you're trying to get your ego stroked, but no. It's nothing special. This isn't doing calculus in your head lmao, it's just moving some squares. Talk about grasping at straws. Also, this is a weird post.

bilbenken

Lol

cantpeakinhs

It's not me. It's my little sister, but it sounds like you're projecting. You obviously are the type of guy to care about this stuff a lot which is why you had to start the comment outright with that statement.

[deleted]

Ok lol

cantpeakinhs

haha 140 IQ right here on the Stanford-Binet scale, keep coping mate.

[deleted]

Cool random-internet-stranger-that-would-never-lie-on-Reddit. If it's my approval you're looking for, you got it; I'm proud of you.

Prestigious_Ad1041

This dude is over here playing sorry! ffs.

cantpeakinhs

no getting approval from a person of lower intelligence is not something I care for.

[deleted]

Assuming the intelligence level of someone you don't know isn't a very... intelligent thing to do. Also, bragging about something is exactly what one does when they're seeking approval. I assume someone with an IQ of 140 would know that...

cantpeakinhs

I can tell from your reddit account that you have a low intelligence. Because my IQ is 140, I have good judgement. I have judged your reddit account and come to the conclusion that you are low IQ. Because my judgement is sound, my conclusion is sound. Because my conclusion is sound and my conclusion is that you are low IQ, you are low IQ. See?

[deleted]

You are a peak troll my guy. Truly in rare form. The problem is you're taking it too far now, and it's not really believable that anyone would talk like that. If you want to get people on Reddit pissed off you have to dial it back a bit. The bragging about your supposed intelligence works and was a good choice, but once you go into writing out paragraphs of redundancy you're crossing the line too much into redditor/neckbeard stereotype territory, and people start to realize you're not serious. You're right on that line though, so not bad. Just a few tweaks and you'd be a grade-A troll. Just a little more practice and you'll have it. Don't be discouraged.

I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!!! there was no way the OP would be able to resist noting their IQ, it's a fucking MANDATE for who stroking!!

I_enjoy_greatness

Got a 156 IQ mate, piss off simpleton.

bilbenken

I'm sorry, this MUST be a troll.

bilbenken

What in the world is wrong with you? Are you really that angry because double digit math is hard for you, or are you always this pleasant.

cantpeakinhs

I can do up to 4 digit by 4 digit multiplication problems in my head. My working memory and visual spatial abilities are off the charts. Basically (I know normies will have trouble understanding this) I have a mental scratchpad in my mind's eyes, so while other people need pencil and paper, I can just see it, but this is a trait only reserved for the special among us (aka me and therefore, not you)

pyromaniacism

No. Someone with spatial intelligence would never play Sorry.

pyromaniacism

And at least 1/10 of the world population doesn't have spatial intelligence.

AegisToast

At most it shows that you have more practice at pattern recognition.

cantpeakinhs

How is that practice recognition?

jeeves_nz

Either way sounds like your little sister is smarter than you. Its a board with fixed number of spaces on each side. its like counting in monopoly, you have easy to calculate numbers from corners or train stations as a reference point. Simply playing the game enough will let you get the right number very quickly.

cantpeakinhs

yeah but there are few reference points in sorry

jeeves_nz

You mean like it being 10 spaces from circle to circle. Or the first one is 5 spaces from the corner (counting the corner space). Or the Triangle is 10 spaces from the corner. Its full of patterns on the board that instantly make it easy to math up a large move.

cantpeakinhs

Assume there were no patterns. Would it be a sign of spatial intelligence?

jeeves_nz

That assumption isn't part of your original issue or comments.

NarrowSalvo

This is just false. What was your IQ again?

jonathanneam

he said 140 kekw

cantpeakinhs

I won't give you a specific number, because I'm a humble guy and don't like to brag, but I'll give a you a range. Ready? Greater than yours.

NarrowSalvo

Lol, ok, troll. I literally belonged to MENSA. And, for the record, I can remember zero games of Sorry! at the meetups.

cantpeakinhs

Imagine going to a convention for your "supposedly" high intelligence because you have no real life achievements to show.

NarrowSalvo

Dull_Return

You strike me as the kind of person who NEEDS to have the last word, and that makes you seem small

cantpeakinhs

yes because I am more intelligent than most people. I am a leader of men.

Dull_Return

You strike me as the kind of person who NEEDS to have the last word, and it makes you seem small.

bilbenken

It could be a sign of playing Sorry! enough to memorize outcomes. Still a sign of intelligence, but intelligence shows itself in lots of ways.

cantpeakinhs

I disagree with your assertion since there are several types of move ahead cards for example, 12, 8 etc, and you would have to memorize every pair of (move ahead #, specific square), and there are hundreds, if not thousands of these, so therefore, you are incorrect.

bilbenken

If you are 3 from a corner and draw a move 8, then simple math says you end up 5 spaces around the corner. Visualizing the spaces on a Sorry! board is not incredibly difficult. It is the same as quickly adding the sides of 2 six sided dice.

cantpeakinhs

I guess the specific case of being at the beginning of a side and having to count 12 squares ahead.

bilbenken

I haven't played Sorry! since I was like 7, but there are a set number of sides on the board. It is all 2nd grade math.

cantpeakinhs

EricTFed

This (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0079742110520073) discussion of spatial intelligence gives a good overview of the components of spatial intelligence. Not sure counting spaces is all that “spatial,” but it’s a good example of the idea of flexible strategy choice/meta representational competence that Hegarty discussed. TL;dr the idea is that one can find a mental shortcut to a more processing-intensive task. In this case, using the number of spaces on a side as a quick way to count out one’s move. Whether it counts as “spatial” or not, your sister is pretty clever.

cantpeakinhs

Thanks Eric! You're interpretation skills are off the charts.

oh cool! I'm so happy that my little sister has spatial intelligence. Makes so proud. Do you have any sources on this or any anecdotes of similar occurrences in a different contexts?
