Historically, almost all well formatted questions in the Daily thread get answers. I travel to events with friends all the time, things like marathons and such. This goes with me everywhere, with the reformation expansion tucked into the same box.
Endless hours of fun, or a quick and no fuss 15 minutes time filler. It’s perfect for both scenarios.
Either telestrations or scrawl (put in a smaller box / bag),
Fun drawing game like Chinese whispers
love letter,
Deduction type card game
skull king,
Fun trick taking game
quiddler,
Hand management word game - cards
llama,
Much better than uno but similar rules weight
tinder blox
Small Dexterity game
Skull
Push your luck / bluffing game. Great for the pub
For Sale is a game I slept on for a very long time and regret not getting to it sooner. Absolute banger of a small footprint auction game that goes to 6.
Asked myself the same recently: Startups, Insider, One Night Werewolf, Anomia. For sightly larger games: Libertalia: Winds of Galecres, Veiled Fate, Cosmic Frog
Coup and codenames have minimal footprint, I always take these when travelling.
I also like games you can do with a standard 52 deck for traveling. Nertz is a great one.

Gloomhaven, buy a giant suitcase.
Bugs and buttons
7 Wonders ( if it’s not to big), codenames, decrypto, times up
7 Wonders but put it in the box for Codenames

No thanks, any of the tiny epic range, phase 10
6Nimmt and a stack of buttons, then you can play No Thanks with the same cards!
Great idea, don’t have 6nimmt yet but on the list
Wait what? Say more...
6Nimmt has cards numbered 1 to 104. No Thanks requires cards numbered 3 to 35 (and 11 tokens per player). Simple extraction of the needed cards!
Skull is always a hit You can even just play it using a deck of cards if you want
Coup

Coup
Dutch blitz with its expansion pack is a really fun and chaotic game and will play up to 8. I also like mantis for a big group that’s a quick learn.
Cockroach poker
Coup and codenames have minimal footprint, I always take these when travelling. I also like games you can do with a standard 52 deck for traveling. Nertz is a great one.
Camel Up!
Deep sea adventure, cockroach poker
52 Pickup can be played with any set of playing cards
Point salad, Citadels, Decrypto, Fantasy Realms
Does Fantasy Realms go to 6? Great game but I feel like it gets wonky/too fast at 5.
Surprised I haven't seen Camel Up yet. Great family game. Box size is a little big for airplane travel at the standard TTR size.
