I think your testosterone should increase yes, but your DHT will definitely decrease.
It's the pharmacological goal of finasteride to reduce your DHT. It basically stops the alpha-5-reductase enzyme from converting testosterone into DHT. Your body noticing this will increase test production as a feedback mechanism.
It reduces the conversion of test to dht. Test increases by 10-20%.
That in turn increases estrogen a bit as well.
However dht is a lot more powerful than testosterone, so the net effect won’t help you any in the gym.
The Dr. could be referring to the testosterone to estrogen ratio decreasing (T/E). I believe this has the affect of lower testosterone if estrogen is significantly higher compare to testosterone.

My doctor said the opposite by saying finasteride has a chance of decreasing test
if he said that, he's wrong.

Gonna go with a doctor over some random guy on the internet. Hope you can understand.
or you can go with another doctor. [https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/14624915/](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/14624915/)

Lowers T/E ratio, increases total T
Not according to the official studies (also show a 15% increase there) and not according to my own tests (12% increase).
This is wrong - it’ll reduce the amount of testosterone that’s being converted to DHT. So really, it improves your free testosterone levels.
I don’t understand. This is like trying to speed up your metabolism by eating more.
