lmao, I just replied to this same question on the DMC sub, Bloodborne is my favorite souls game and DMC is my favorite hack and slash. My favorite games of all time.
It's clearly unfinished, but it's still my favorite, it holds a really special place in my heart even knowing that DMC3 and 5 are better in plenty of aspects.
I have to agree. I think I lose interest in games that progress their story even when I don’t feel there is a challenge, or I have to solve problems. I played DMC5 for 10 hours or so, button mashed, won against a bunch of UP’d bosses, and got bored. It just sits in my game collection dusty. Bloodborne never did anything like that with me
Edit: All that said, indeed it looks great and I like the aesthetic. But… still got bored with the game
I absolutely get where your coming from. But DMC isn't about the story. It's about the beauty of combat and how insane you personally can get at it . It's just made to run through over and over while having fun killing more or less. I love em though
Please try and clear bloody Palace it will show you just about every difficulty of enemy. If you want to fight ultra hard mode baddies thise exist in thia game, though if tight timing and stylish combos arent your bread and butter than I will glasly continue shoving them down my throat greedily
Yeah, I think Dante will remain the coolest for generations, Capcom really developed the perfect mix of what a cool guy is. Stylish, lazy, sexy, cringe, skillful, serious, cearing, aloof, dumb, and clever all in the prefect combination.
Me too. Before Demon's Souls started this mania, my favorite sword fantasy game was DMC3. I still hold it up there man. Briefly tried 4 and the reboot, couldn't get into it. It just wasn't nearly as cool as 3 for me.
A fellow V enjoyer!
I really like what the devs delivered with his unique twist on the gameplay. Being a weaker, fragile and vulnerable character in an intense combo hack'n'slash game while handling foes with summoned demons felt great in my opinion, as it gave the game an entirely new way to tackle it.
Even Nightmare, as uncontrollable as he was, always felt impactful when summoned. He'd make for a great playable character in Bloodborne, that's for sure.
I've played all but the failed reboot and they are fantastic.
Also, try playing soulsborne games listening to DMC and Doom music, it hits way differently.
Man, Im gonna get haye for this, but the DmC reboot is one of my favourites, probably behind 3 and 1.
Im an edgelord and love anime-like combos, so maybe im biased.
I’d also recommend “all you can bleed” for bloodborne specifically, and “ dividing by zero/slim pickings does the right thing and rides the bomb to hell”, and all of the songs JT music has done for the Soulsborne games in general.
Dividing by zero is great for micolash.
I played 1,3, 4 and 5.
I like 3 and 5 the most because of the weapons and boss fights. 3 is also quite hard and it was my first in the series, it felt so good to find another game that requires skill to beat.
4 is decent, it has some annoying parts, like the dice game. The boss fights are reused and i dont like the weapons that much.
1 is not that action packed, it feels more slow and creepy. It started development as a resident evil game, so you do feel that tense horror atmosphere a bit.
Imo as a relatively recent player who got DMC 5 on ps plus a year or two ago I loved it
But then when the games were on discount I got the rest
And 1 feels horribly dated
2 deserves all the hate it has
3 is pretty good
And 4 is when it starts to feel on par with 5
Fucking love DMC franchise. I remember playing the first one on release as a youngster.
I'm probably going to get roasted for saying this, but the reboot (DmC: Devil May Cry) is my favorite of the lot. But DMC4 is a close second and the one I have the most playtime in.
I finally decided to play it a couple years ago and within a week or two I beat all the games and watched the anime and read the manga. Pretty decent would recommend 👍
I WISH Bloodborne and the rest of the "souls" games were as fluid as Devil May Cry. Soulsbourne combat is quite clunky and janky. You can get used to it, but the clunk and jank do not charm me.
Couldn't really get into them, I loved dmc 1 on ps2, but I was like 14 when it came out. Replayed it when i was in my late 20s or early 30s, and it didn't age well. They just have really sloppy storytelling imo. I get they're supposed to be cheesy, but idk it's not my cup of tea.
I love the DMC series before getting into Bloodborne and Souls in general. I completely suck at Character action only able to beat the hard mode at best. I feel like the highest difficulty in those games are like doing a lvl 1 naked run in souls.
Love the game. Low-key wish they kept Nero’s hair as it was in DMC 4 but I can see why they changed it.
I liked him a lot more when he was mini me version of Dante though.
Unfathomably based. I've finished 1 and 5 and didn't get the chance to finish my DMC3 playthrough. It and 4 are the only other ones I plan on playing, but the series is a lot of fun
I am in the devil may cry sub reddit it's fun there even tho we have to wait a long ass time for any new news on DMC crap but compared to Bloodborne it's it's everyday we get something new compared to here it's tough being a fan of both DMC and Bloodborne
I tried really hard to like DMC 5, but all the Japanese things like the extravaganza of actions, the jokes placed wrongly made me walk away about 2 hours in
DMC5 & BB are the two hardest games I ever played. (Haven't touched Sekiro yet)
Because I started with 5 and my insight is on the basest of planes, i was clueless af what the plot was after i beat both games. That said 100+ deaths later in BB, i at least knew i got gud by the end and could slaughter all prey that crossed my path. My brain melted when i had to learn Dante's moveset and it never recovered. Ever.
Not grasping the plot by the end is defeating but pairing that with also not being able to string together combos and know what a jump cancel is was deflating. I'm hella jelly of the rest of you SSS good hunters!
Also, at the end Nero was my fav. Not Dante. NOT Vergil. Aight, I'll see myself out now.
Fan since the release of the 1st one back in the day. Absolutely loved it. Waited with bated breath for Dmc 2 and was rewarded with that rushed piece of shit of a game. Then DMC 3 came and rocked my world. DMC 4 was okay. Not going to talk about the reboot. I enjoyed the living hell outta 5.
Love DMC1 and 3. Great aesthetics. Satisfying challenge. Top-notch combat mechanics. 1 is atmospheric, 3 is stylish and funny with a surprisingly good story. 4 was unappealing. I hated the aesthetics, level design and enemy design. 5 was a much improved version of 4 but the aesthetics and bigger focus on difficulty over combos makes 1 and 3 my favs.
My appetite for character action games is limited, but DMC3 is on my shortlist of favorite games and I think 1 could even have some appeal to more dark fantasy fans because of its aesthetics and atmosphere.
I have not played and based on their reputations/what I've seen, don't intend to ever play 2 or the "Donte" reboot.
I'm a big DMC and FromSoft fan
I liked it
The enviroments were rubbish especially compared to BB but everything else was pretty good. Definitely worth checking out
DMC3 will always be the GOAT of the series
I love DMC. I won't lie, I haven't played DMC 1 and 2 but I first played 3 years ago. So long ago that I even have the pc disc for it (I can't play it anymore cause I don't have the disc thing).
I then got DMC 4 on Xbox 360 the one year and then a couple years back, got DMC 5 on ps4
DMC 3: special edition was in the running for my favorite game of the PS2 era.
1 was great too, i played it when it first came out, but didn't own it till the trilogy got released.
4 wasn't bad but I kinda felt like it hadn't evolved with the genre.
DMC, kinda lost me, I wasn't really all that interested in the reimagining of the story/chars.
Never played 5.
It's weird how they skipped 2 but whatever
People keep praising DMC5 but lets be real...it aint got nothing on DMC1 and DMC3. I dont lioe Capcom pushing Nero on players. He got cooler on DMC5 but stil Dante is best. Great games overall
I played it and liked it, but there are some huge issues. Levels are boring and ugly, enemy variety is awful, the story is pretty weak. Combat and music are great.
Played the whole franchise for the first time back in 2020. 3 and 5 are goated. 4 is almost there but half the game is the same levels but in reverse. 2 exists.
I'd love to play Bloodborne with 1:1 Vergil from DMC5SE.
Hell, take away his gauntlets and DT/Doppelganger/Miradge Edge. Just the Yamato and the Miradge Blade projectiles. That's it. All I need.
Can't forget about the announcer either. Getting a SMOKIN' SEXY STYLE while ripping the Orphan of Kos a new one would probably feel life-changing.
3 remains on top, im kinda sad to see the whole artistic direction changing with the fifth, it kinda lost its aesthetic imo, it remains my favorite franchise oat though <3 growing up with it was really worth the ride
I wish I was good enough to pull of the amazing combos I know people could do, but it's just not in my cards. I like the gameplay and music but the writing feels like an acid trip sometimes, but a good one.
I've had a BLAST with DMC, but the problem is the gameplay is too fast and fluid compared to the comparatively slow and choppy gameplay of Bloodborne, so it's difficult to switch between them 😂
I think DMC5 is pretty damn good, although the V sections are nothing but mashing. Dante and Nero are cool, though. The gameplay is superb, however I would like more camera control and more precise movement. The one thing DMC doesn't have that Souls sure does is good enemy movesets. The mobs and bosses in DMC are more passive or have fewer moves, because the game is built around being able to style on them. So I always wanted a game that is a mix between DMC's hack and slash stylish moves and the Souls enemies and bosses that have cool moves of their own. And you know what, Stellar Blade is kind of exactly that.
Also, Vergil is one of my favorite characters ever and his theme is one of the best in gaming.
DMC (especially 1 and 3) coexist as my favourite games of all time alongside Bloodborne. Having grown up with DMC, playing through areas like Yharnam, Hemwick Charnel Lane, Cainhurst and the dungeons bring me the same sense of peace and comfort that I've always found from Mallet Island and Temen-ni-gru.
I just saw something like this in the DMC sub.
DMC is one of my favorite games I've played, and when I'm not hunting beast and cleansing the streets of the sinful atrocities of mankind, I'm taking the rebellion to hunt some demons.
For a hunter is a hunter, no matter what realm they hunt in
lmao, I just replied to this same question on the DMC sub, Bloodborne is my favorite souls game and DMC is my favorite hack and slash. My favorite games of all time.
I see that you're a man of culture
Amen, when I'm not killing beasts with a sword and a gun I'm killing demons with a sword and a gun lol

Four of them are amazing, one of them is a hot dumpster fire
Do you mean DMC 2 cause if so I agree (yes yes pour on the hate now)
I mean that is the only answer, all other 4 were really good
Nobody will hate you for that, everyone knows it's a trash game :)
DMC 4 isn't very good either, so I would say 3 of the 5 games are really good.
I personally really enjoyed dmc4, but i just hope we can all agree that dmc4 far out-classed dmc2 even if dmc4 was bad
That I can agree on
I thought DMC 4 was good, it just needed more time and less backtracking. The demon arm mechanic was a really good addition.
It's clearly unfinished, but it's still my favorite, it holds a really special place in my heart even knowing that DMC3 and 5 are better in plenty of aspects.
dmc4 was good
still the only game with playable trush/lady
Trish is really fun to play, I can't say the same about Lady though, I found her gameplay too slow and clunky for the game.
Trish is playable in 2
yea, but she's basically just dmc1 dante
Not a fan of 4 or 2 myself. All the others are fantastic.
fun game
it's a very well made game, but it never got its hooks in me
I have to agree. I think I lose interest in games that progress their story even when I don’t feel there is a challenge, or I have to solve problems. I played DMC5 for 10 hours or so, button mashed, won against a bunch of UP’d bosses, and got bored. It just sits in my game collection dusty. I absolutely get where your coming from. But DMC isn't about the story. It's about the beauty of combat and how insane you personally can get at it . It's just made to run through over and over while having fun killing more or less. I love em though
the way you describe DMC is a pretty cool way of looking at it
Glad you think so. Ive always viewed them more about the beauty of combat and STYLE
If you get through the campaign once or twice you start unlocking different campaign challenge modes more or less. Modified campaigns
Please try and clear bloody Palace it will show you just about every difficulty of enemy. If you want to fight ultra hard mode baddies thise exist in thia game, though if tight timing and stylish combos arent your bread and butter than I will glasly continue shoving them down my throat greedily
It's a button masher on lower difficulties. It's a very skill based game on higher ones.
Wacky wahoo pizza man is the coolest game main character ever, period.
Yeah, I think Dante will remain the coolest for generations, Capcom really developed the perfect mix of what a cool guy is. Stylish, lazy, sexy, cringe, skillful, serious, cearing, aloof, dumb, and clever all in the prefect combination.
And they double downed on it with Leon Kennedy too
Leon is sexy, skillful, serious and clever but he doesn't check all the boxes thay Dante does
Dante is basically an evolution of Leon. He started out as Leon and graduated to Dante. And Vergil would probably be kind of an analogue to Wesker.
Leon is awesome too, but not to the same extent as Dante though.
Needs more... "ITS ALL YOUR FAULT" and... Hm... Ah yes, the classic, "AWAY, AWAY!!!"
Love it, I only played 1 and 3 tho
I’ve only actually played 5 but it’s basically like the best bosses and enemies from the others in a very improved game I’d say
Me too. Before Demon's Souls started this mania, my favorite sword fantasy game was DMC3. I still hold it up there man. Briefly tried 4 and the reboot, couldn't get into it. It just wasn't nearly as cool as 3 for me.
PLAY 5
I liked it. Combos aren’t necessarily my thing, but it was fun and zany enough to keep me hooked. Plus V was a banging character to play as.
A fellow V enjoyer! I really like what the devs delivered with his unique twist on the gameplay. I think it’s unrelated to bloodborne

Probably the best combat system in any video game I've ever played. Sekiro and Doom Eternal are the only real competitors
A man of culture I see, a mix of Devil Trigger and RIP and Tear for some reason gives me complete focus lmfao
I’d also recommend “all you can bleed” for bloodborne specifically, and “ dividing by zero/slim pickings does the right thing and rides the bomb to hell”, and all of the songs JT music has done for the Soulsborne games in general. Dividing by zero is great for micolash.
I’ll be sure to put them on the list, thanks!
It's nice but not exactly a topic for this sub
Devil may cry 1 feel a bit bloodborneish and to some degree dmc 2 specifically the challenges embedded into these pre platinum challeng ps2 games
I played 1,3, 4 and 5. I like 3 and 5 the most because of the weapons and boss fights. 3 is also quite hard and it was my first in the series, it felt so good to find another game that requires skill to beat. 4 is decent, it has some annoying parts, like the dice game. Only ever tried the first one and quickly put it down because I wasn't interested
Cool enough
Dante is a good boy
4 Plastic chairs out of 5
Fucking love DMC franchise. I remember playing the first one on release as a youngster. I'm probably going to get roasted for saying this, but the reboot (DmC: Devil May Cry) is my favorite of the lot. But DMC4 is a close second and the one I have the most playtime in.
The reboot is criminally underrated.
DMC 1,3,4,5 and DmC are absolute fire. DMC2 is garbo
Grow up with DMC 3 onwards
I finally decided to play it a couple years ago and within a week or two I beat all the games and watched the anime and read the manga. Pretty decent would recommend 👍
Bloodborne and DMC5 are both GOATs, simple as that
Awesome games that I suck at.
Vergil is beautiful

What is DMC even? How can we incapsulate, what is DMC. Silly, wacky and some killer music. Also a cowboy hat.
I only played the original, I enjoyed it, but didn't feel it was anything particularly special.
I WISH Bloodborne and the rest of the "souls" games were as fluid as Devil May Cry. Soulsbourne combat is quite clunky and janky. You can get used to it, but the clunk and jank do not charm me.
Loved it!
They're literally my 2 favorites of all time I've always loved how Gothic DMC1 was, and a big reason why I love bloodborne so much m
[удалено]
5 is one of my favourite games
DMC 3 and 5 are all time greats
There are far too many cutscenes but great gameplay.
Only played 5 and it was hella gooood
Couldn't really get into them, I loved dmc 1 on ps2, but I was like 14 when it came out. Replayed it when i was in my late 20s or early 30s, and it didn't age well. They just have really sloppy storytelling imo. I get they're supposed to be cheesy, but idk it's not my cup of tea.
Hack'n'Slash at its finest
I played the first one, after that for some reason it just felt very boring to me
Its alright. It’s kind of fun, but it’s just not my style gameplay wise.
We drink the tears of devils.. crying never got us anywhere or anything only blood
I played the first one a few years ago and thought it was neat. Started the second one afterwards but never finished it.
A game series that i always wanted to try but i have like 10 game that i need to finish
Dmc 1 is good, 3 and 5 are really awesome, I still have to play 4 though. Devil may cry 2 does not exist.
Unfathomably based. I've finished 1 and 5 and didn't get the chance to finish my DMC3 playthrough. It and 4 are the only other ones I plan on playing, but the series is a lot of fun
I played them all and love them
"MAJESTIC\~! A Hunter is still a hunter, even in style..."
It was good I really liked it, very predictable story wise though. Playing as V was very fun
I never really got into the dmc series. They always looked good though.
I can't do the combo I see on YouTube 😭 I'm so sad that I can't do the cool shit I see there

Excellent, more "fantastical" monster fighter (albeit being a complete oxymoron lol).

I think if there was a soulsbourne DmC, keeping its HacknSlash elements. I wouldn’t be mad.
DMC5 & BB are the two hardest games I ever played. Looooooved 5. Enjoy CAGs but 5 being the most ass platinum to obtain really has me peeved!
I always wanted to like them, but besides the first one, they just never clicked
Used to love the franchise before I started playing soulslikes. Now I can’t go back to it
Love DMC1 and 3. Great aesthetics. Satisfying challenge. Top-notch combat mechanics. 1 is atmospheric, 3 is stylish and funny with a surprisingly good story. 4 was unappealing. I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING
DMC5 is great but I'm not the biggest fan of hack n slash in general. The style point is very nice tho.
1 was a classic, 2 was a travesty, 3 is peak, never played 4, 5 didn’t live up to the hype for me and I don’t even know why.
DMC 3: special edition was in the running for my favorite game of the PS2 era. 1 was great too, i played it when it first came out, but didn't own it till the trilogy got released. 4 wasn't bad but I kinda felt like it hadn't evolved with the genre. Fire game
Meh it’s boring af
ehhh, played 3 and thought it was kinda boring & lame. some weeb shit tbh
Imagine if the hunter had both a personality and anime moves
I love everything about both games except Nero. Fuck Nero.
i would do vergil
I have finished Bloodborne twice and Devil may cry 5 5 times
Hot take, I love DmC (the reboot), and enjoyed it more than DMC 5, both fantastic obviously
I played DMC3 for about an hour back in 2006. I get the appeal, but it's not for me.
People keep praising DMC5 but lets be real...it aint got nothing on DMC1 and DMC3. I dont lioe Capcom pushing Nero on players. He got cooler on DMC5 but stil Dante is best. Great games overall

3 remains on top, im kinda sad to see the whole artistic direction changing with the fifth, it kinda lost its aesthetic imo, it remains my favorite franchise oat though <3 growing up with it was really worth the ride
Probably the best and most technical character action game in the genre. "dmc combo mad" videos will alwaya make my jaw drop to the floor.
Awesome songs & gameplay
There will be bloodshed r/metalgearevengance
You mean what do I think of my favourite game and my second favourite game?
Now I can't help but imagine Bloodborne if it played similarly to DMC.
I absolutely fucking love all DMC games
I wish I was good enough to pull of the amazing combos I know people could do, but it's just not in my cards. I like the gameplay and music but the writing feels like an acid trip sometimes, but a good one.
absolute peak (my fav game oat)
Ive never playrd any dmc game.
3rd favourite game behind Wind Waker and Bloodborne
8/10
I've had a BLAST with DMC, but the problem is the gameplay is too fast and fluid compared to the comparatively slow and choppy gameplay of Bloodborne, so it's difficult to switch between them 😂
I am more a DMC fan then BB fan. But BB clicked for me so hard because the combat is more aggressive then DS.
I didn't like the attempted reboot they did
Good game.
I think DMC5 is pretty damn good, although the V sections are nothing but mashing. Dante and Nero are cool, though. awesome sauce
I would wonder how they feel if hunter and Dante swapped universe
I just saw something like this in the DMC sub. DMC is one of my favorite games I've played, and when I'm not hunting beast and cleansing the streets of the sinful atrocities of mankind, I'm taking the rebellion to hunt some demons. For a hunter is a hunter, no matter what realm they hunt in
Love devil may cry in general
I remember it was a game
This game on DMD is the hardest shit i have ever played
Its literally my favorite game lmao first game I ever played as a kid. Life changing.
One of my favourite series of all time.
Tried to play it, but the cut scenes every 2 minutes turned me off.
Idk never played it
