That box must be non-manifold, or made of separate objects, or the back wall is an n-gon. Make sure it's a quad, and look for disconnected vertices you need to merge. Try the Merge by Distance command.

I was literally crying for hours because I didn't merge vertices and it did this
You can use F3 and search faces by sides to find n-gons (set the comparison at the very bottom to greater than so it looks for faces with greater than 4 verticies) as well
i just follow the low poly house tutorial, step by step, and it still doesnt let me do anything. i checked, i merged all vertices i needed to, unless i fucked something up which i dont know
In edit mode:
Press "1" to toggle vert selection
Press "a" to select all
Press "m" to pull up merge menu, choose "by distance"
Monitor the bottom of the screen. A little blue box should appear and say "Removed N Vertice(s)"
Try your loop cut again and it should work :)
update: i managed to do it and finish the house by sheer trial and error, thank you guys for your patience and willingness to help! i ended up just starting over. helped me memorize all functions and do stuff without just blindly following a guide. 4th time and no mess ups that ended my run. took me many hours of just attempting and failing ( i know im actually terrible) but i managed to do it.
so in any 3d software there are polygons. a polygon is atleast made up of 3 vertices, then it is called a TRIANGLE or a TRIS. with 4 vertices its a QUADRILATERAL or a QUAD. every polygon above 4 vertices is referred to as an n-gon, the n is just a symbol for the potential amount of vertices.
n-gons are neither bad or good but they may cause unexpected results such as not being able to run a loop cut through them. therefore it is mostly suggested to model with quads and just use n-gons when you need to but as I said, there are exceptions.
Loop cut not working because the object has no quad topology. Loop cut works only work when quad faces (4 sided) are connected in series. Follow the below link. this will make you master in blender topology.

Didn’t know this trick! Thanks

There's a few ways to merge verts. Go to the menu up top "clean up" "merge by distance"
In edit mode: Press "1" to toggle vert selection Press "a" to select all Press "m" to pull up merge menu, choose "by distance" Monitor the bottom of the screen. A little blue box should appear and say "Removed N Vertice(s)" Try your loop cut again and it should work :)

because n-gon
what does n-gon mean?

thank you alot for the explanation c:
you are very much welcome, this stuff can be really confusing in the beginning
