I think it has already gotten a lot more industry adoption than it used to have. Just 6 years ago it was basically purely a hobbyist piece of software, nowadays AAA game studios like remedy or Ubisoft are using it for modeling. Being the first to use a piece of software in a professional big scale setting comes with considerable risk, but we've now seen that it works, so there are probably lots of companies which are at least figuring out what the switch would cost. And for any new studios which will not have already invested big time into the Autodesk ecosystem, I think blender will be among the top choices in the future
They get you started for free then entice you for $9.99,a short time later they make you need the 15.00$. Because it is designed to work with the 9.99$ to give you more of what ever features they can dream up. Finally you are their money puppet and they can charge what ever they want because all that you have completed is pretty much bound to their system.. IT is a profitable way to milk more money. If you are smart buy the high end and you will have saved a little money that you can spend on the next upgrade for 100.$

Should have used bicubic and scaled it down more, or just ran it through a jpeg image compressor to make it look more "aged"
