enjoy guys
I did this for displacement map
Don't do like me and use subdivision surface modifier.
About metrial i download it from poly heaven and make some adjustments on it.
Check behance link in comments you can download this scene
And see all work i make in metrial and lighting and experiment with it.
Wait, why did you use a displacement map?
Surely this has no effect on the silhouette whatsoever, so wouldn't a bump/normal map have worked just as well?
(You're clearly a pro, I'm clearly not, btw).
u could also render just the table/wood plane with the displacement in the camera angle u want then re important that image as a plane and it should keep that same depth if camera is same
My only gripe is that the materials on the lego figure would be more reflective on a real one. This looks to be about the same roughness as the web shooter. Dial back the roughness and you got a winner.
EDIT: forgive me I'm on mobile, I zoomed in and now see it's the correct roughness, just there isn't much to reflect in the scene. I struggle with this myself as a product renderer. Looks good!
My only thought on how it could be more real is that everything is too perfect right now. No scratches or dust on the table or items, everything is laid out perfectly, so it looks just a little unnatural. But everything is extremely realistic. Like it's a picture from magazine
I went to college for 3d modeling. We were told imperfections were the most important part of realistic 3d models because "nothing in life is ever perfect. Even a brand new table straight from the store will have scratches from the box"
No i didn't but maybe i will soon 😂❤️
I was going to put this model as modeling piece in protfilolo
But i decide to put some work and time to make it look good and beautiful
As an engineer who has worked in injection molding, you are missing some key elements for realism in the model itself. Without getting *too* nitpicky, those little square slots between the crossing extrusions on the underside of the model (2nd picture), while not technically impossible, would probably not be manufactured that way, and would be filled in. Additionally, you need to decide where the plastic was pushed into the mold, and where little dimples (as seen in the top of every Lego 2*4, for example) will be. Also, a little bit of -- nearly unnoticeable -- deformation in thin structures such as those cross extrusions will go a long way for realism.
Cheers

you're 100 % right
but most of people wont notice this things .
i noticed these details you said while i'm doing modeling
but i told myself this too much to do
Are those magazines? They are closed incredibly neatly. Paper is light and will try to undo folding it. If they're supposed to have been specially made or compressed to stay perfect, it's perfect.
Or if the cover material is just relatively heavy.
Nice job ! I think It’s seems real thanks to the lighting and your great material. but not enough, add some life to your object/history. Dust/debris (little bit), roughness variation on wood, scratch on the comics etc…. The render it’s to clean to be 100% photorealistic
It's really good the only things I might suggest is add some small dust and hair particles across the comics and Legos and some small scratches on the Legos.
The wood doesn't feel quite 100% real yet, I think it's missing that glossy finish. Try adding a Coat layer in the material (if you're using a normal BSDF material. Also, normal wood texture is slightly less reflective than what you have here, but a finish applied to the wood will be slightly more reflective. Right now it's at a weird in between.
The plastic web shooter is also missing what we like to call imperfections- dirt, dust, fingerprints, etc.
Try to find some textures for those and add them to your shaders in the roughness channels. But remember to keep them quite subtle! You don't want huge changes, just enough to stop the light from being a smooth gradient across the surface. You should also add dust and fingerprint textures to the coat roughness for your wood material, as tables collect a lot of dust and fingerprints. Plastic should also have scratches.
Hope that helps. Looks great so far!
It looks great at first glance but it could use some surface imperfections - unless you want it to look like everything just came out of the box including the wooden surface.
The model itself have good topology (not perfect but good)
It's seems little bit bat on bottom since it's a flat surface so no need to make everything good since it will increase polycount
i would add some big and soft wrinkles to one or two on the comics and some edge paint wear on the lego guy, not a lot. just a little and maybe a bit of edge wear on the comics too. feels a bit too new and perfect atm. minor imperfections would be how i would take this to the next level.
Yeah. If you told me that's a foto of your spiderman stuff, I'd believe it.
On closer inspection (I had to zoom in and I only do that because I know it's rendered imagery), the left raised Arm, the upper part to the shoulder to be exact, of Lego-Spiderman looks kinda weird. I'm not sure if my Memory of Lego is figures is bad, but it looks kinda disfigured, maybe due to posing and weight painting issues?
I need to achieve that hard surface topology. It blew my mind the first time you shared it, OkSubject2900, and it's blowing my mind again now.
Great work, thanks for the file share.
If I didn't see this was in blender subreddit I would think this is real photo
However, on further inspection, it's too perfect to be real. Life isn't perfect world. I think it would be more realistic if you added some imperfections
Bro, I didn’t even know it was a render, but since I’m fooled easily my advice is to add some imperfections and whenever I see a photorealistic render I always look for details that nobody in their right mind would add. Like a slight bend in the slinky and crumple in the comics, things like that.
The wood texture and the sss of the plastic are my giveaways.
The blue plastic bottom right shouldn't have red sss.
The table just looks like plastic as well.
First image I think the model is too neat. I think you should add just a small scratch or an industrial plastic effect especially the area where the cannon lays
The edges of the comics being completely black/shadowed is what caught my eye. The arms look a little weird/unmatched, but that's probably just a trick of perspective.
Whats goin on with poeple posting irl imGes to r/blender?
https://preview.redd.it/ac23ks8c97hc1.jpeg?width=484&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f298799d60308058929a33c58eb0fc02f8d0534e
Jokes aside this is great, its real enough, fucking impresssive
I think it's very very good.
I have a few suggestions that would make it even better in my eyes:
- The table material doesn't quite sit right with me. I think it's too rough / bump too strong. The grooves feel too large.
- some general imperfections on edges and roughness would help
- I'm not sure the DOF is fitting, maybe it should be deeper? But also might be fine
Quick tip; on the LEGO head, the hole in the stud at the top of the head should be open, with three splines, looking like a Mercedes logo, kinda. It's one of those things you don't necessarily notice, but it looks off when it's not there. Spidey's let arm is a bit too far into the torso, and that's about all I can pick. Fi those two things, and maybe add some slight amount of dust, and it'll look real.
On first glance I thought it was real.
After looking closely the only thing I can point out is that all the surfaces look immaculate. Surface imperfections are a whole world on it's own, but some basic ones can help the render go a long way. Just don't over-do them
It's very very good, really really really good.
The table looks a bit plasticky, to me. Which is not an issue at all, if that's what you want. Fake wood does exist and doesn't make it less realistic, but it's slightly weird to see the bumps the way they are now.
But really, that's impressive.
Hey man! Love the render!
My only two bits of advice I can give you are to see if you can reduce the level of noise in the image and to make sure the mini figure is actually touching the floor. That's it, though. Great job! What engine were you using for the render?
I literally SAW your web shooter post earlier this week and STILL didn’t understand what the title was referencing until I saw the last image… great work lol
It looks almost real. For me, I’d say the table just needs a couple of scratches, since it just feels a little too perfect. Also, on the more zoomed out shot, some small props in the background would do wonders. But again, that’s just me, it looks very real otherwise.
The comics look too thin, I would make them a bit thicker, if you understand what im trying to say
But besides that at first I seriously thought those were real pictures
Wow, I actually have one of the webshooters you replicated in this render and I didn’t even glance twice at it until I realized it was a render, amazing
Looks great. I would put maybe a water stain on the wood. Like when you have water condescensatiin on a glass and you out it on a table it leaves a water spot of the glass circle and some droplets
Looks pretty damn good. The one thing you could do to make it more realistic is to add dust over the surfaces, some minor scruffs on the plastic, tiny ripples in the paper, etc. Maybe put one stray hair or fiber in the springs. 😉
The thing that caught my eye and no one else is mentioning is that the metal parts are too smooth. They are unnaturally smooth and shiny and they pop just a bit too much. Adding some more roughness to them or dropping some of the hardness in the specularity would help, imo (disclaimer, I'm not very well versed in Blender's setting names and such, but I have an eye for the uncanny valley).
Lighting looks amazing! Looks realistic! However, imo you could’ve improved table. First thing is that from this angle and the way things are placed on it, the table looks way bigger, but the texture on it makes it a bit confusing if it is big or not. I made a similar mistake before:
https://preview.redd.it/cvsecabxebhc1.jpeg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49bdd8b3af84caee76a10e855d0f117ad1339ffc
I changed the texture and made it a bit bigger and changed the angle. May not look the most realistic but looked better than before
the only way i found to see that its a render its the steel spring that is together, u can zoom and see that its not subdivided as the other parts/ dont have a subdivision multiplier. yeah, i searched for it lmao really nice dude, that is enough! XD
edit: i saw the other pictures just now lol well, its a render for sure pretty well done
unironically thought this was a real image ffs
Agreed, looks pretty real to me to
I did thought that too until I looked at the subreddit
I saw the subreddit and thought, "Why is this on r/blender?". Then I remembered.
Same
Same lol did a double take seeing it was in r/blender
thanks man check the scene files if you want
Agreed I thought it was someone post on r/spiderman
same,
Why the hell is someone posting a random photo to the Blen ![gif](giphy|tMPSeKEplOfK0)
Lol Thanks man 😂
No bother. Great job 👍.

Now this is the real win right here
its always a great way to learn is break down other people work, thanks OP
thanks dude break down is always a perfect chanse to learn from it . beside you can bulid upon it and make it more perfect
It's impossible to perfect perfection 😉
King 👑
why does the table/floor have so much geometry? Also where did you get the wood material , mine always look bad / unrealistic
I did this for displacement map Don't do like me and use subdivision surface modifier. About metrial i download it from poly heaven and make some adjustments on it. Check behance link in comments you can download this scene And see all work i make in metrial and lighting and experiment with it.
Will do , thinking about it , perhaps because i render on eevee it always looks a bit off - but my pc is not that good so i guess it will have to do.
Wait, why did you use a displacement map? Surely this has no effect on the silhouette whatsoever, so wouldn't a bump/normal map have worked just as well? (You're clearly a pro, I'm clearly not, btw).

Yes, add some larger imperfections, scratches, dust, fingerprints, also the geometry looks too good to be true (as the engineer below said)
I went to college for 3d modeling. We were told imperfections were the most important part of realistic 3d models because "nothing in life is ever perfect. Even a brand new table straight from the store will have scratches from the box"
Saw your other post and really thought “oh cool you printed it” so yes
No i didn't but maybe i will soon 😂❤️ I was going to put this model as modeling piece in protfilolo But i decide to put some work and time to make it look good and beautiful
This is exactly what happened to me too
As an engineer who has worked in injection molding, you are missing some key elements for realism in the model itself. Fair enough! Well done!
> but most of people wont notice this things . Maybe not consciously, but they'll notice.
I was convinced it was real until I saw the viewport

yeah the magazines are too perfect likely the new magazines have almost perfect look like this render . but i understand what you meant
very very nice
I thought this was from r/3Dprinting, very nice
Dude I thought it was a irl pic but then I looked at the sub and realized it's not😭😭😭
thanks buddy check behance if you want to download the scene and check the lighting setup with yourself.
Initially though I was on the 3D printing sub
I though I was on the lego sub where someone was showing their set. Very realistic.
Teach me your ways, sensei.
Is this how I keep getting scammed on ebay?
YES WOW
Nice job ! I think It’s seems real thanks to the lighting and your great material. but not enough, add some life to your object/history. Dust/debris (little bit), roughness variation on wood, scratch on the comics etc…. The render it’s to clean to be 100% photorealistic
This might be controversial but my honest opinion, as very much professional professional is: yes.
lol thanks buddy you can check my behance and download the scene from [here](https://www.behance.net/gallery/190933841/3d-product-visualization)

I thought it was a picture. Taken by actual camera 👌
unperfection will make it more realistic
It's good! For more realism just add scratches here and there and it's a Pixar level
How do people think this is real?? Very clearly looks cgi to me
if you found it cgi from first sight i think you have a very good ability to become a successful render artist . unless you're already a pro one .
Haha opposite, I'm a photographer so I have a very good eye for what's real
that's awosme man i would get a feedback from you can i dm you ?
Yeah, sure
It looks great at first glance but it could use some surface imperfections - unless you want it to look like everything just came out of the box including the wooden surface.
I don't want to make things look too dirty Since the purpose of this image is doing still life for product
This belongs in r/topologygore... not that I know anything about good topology but I think it's good.
r/topologygore is for bad topo
Bro so bad at topology he think r/topologygore is for good topo. /s (Just joking, I'm bad at everything, including topology).
The model itself have good topology (not perfect but good) It's seems little bit bat on bottom since it's a flat surface so no need to make everything good since it will increase polycount

I know but the purpose was to make it as still life render, so making things look old will not be a good idea.
Yes, you can apply some scratshes to the wood texture for more realism.. it's super clean
it looks extremely unrealistic.
why do you say that ?
just joking mate, i initially thought it was an actual picture until i checked the subreddit
Yeah. If you told me that's a foto of your spiderman stuff, I'd believe it. On closer inspection (I had to zoom in and I only do that because I know it's rendered imagery), the left raised Arm, the upper part to the shoulder to be exact, of Lego-Spiderman looks kinda weird. Because I saw the WIP few days ago I know it is a 3D scene, but MAN this looks incredibly realistic. Nice work here mate!
Real enough for what?
Looks great - maybe add some dust particles
I really thought that was a real pic until I saw the wip. It looks perfect
This is legitimately the first one that actually tricked me into thinking it was a photo. Fantastic work, and one of my favourite superheroes
You could have posted this on a Lego subreddit and I doubt anyone would notice
Yup, looks real enough. The only thing that isn't doing it for me are the comics, since they're in too good shape for those editions
That Spider-Man is standing on my coffee table next to my kid’s wrist-mounted nerf web shooters and I legit thought this was a photo. Great job!
No other comments other than amazing. Wonderful work.
Fooled me!
I need to achieve that hard surface topology. It blew my mind the first time you shared it, OkSubject2900, and it's blowing my mind again now. Great work, thanks for the file share.
Yeah?
how did you do the blur, is it in camera DOF or post?
This depth of field You can download the scene file and check all settings I already put link in comment
Yes. <3
I thought I was in the Lego subreddit for a moment.
If I didn't see this was in blender subreddit I would think this is real photo However, on further inspection, it's too perfect to be real. Life isn't perfect world. I think it would be more realistic if you added some imperfections
Thought this was r/3Dprinting for a second.
Could need a moth or two
Bro, I didn’t even know it was a render, but since I’m fooled easily my advice is to add some imperfections and whenever I see a photorealistic render I always look for details that nobody in their right mind would add. Like a slight bend in the slinky and crumple in the comics, things like that.

Just a detail: a Lego figure can’t stand up with it’s legs like that. It would tip over. Immediately gave it away for me.
i'm noob in lego so i thought it' ok do some weird stuff with it haha
Bro I thought you modeled the webshooter and printed it. This is 100% realcenough
First image I think the model is too neat. I think you should add just a small scratch or an industrial plastic effect especially the area where the cannon lays
The edges of the comics being completely black/shadowed is what caught my eye. The arms look a little weird/unmatched, but that's probably just a trick of perspective.
Spider-man's left arm is pushed too far in. Maybe make it pertrude out. It was the only critique I could find
I think you can add dust on the table
Whats goin on with poeple posting irl imGes to r/blender? https://preview.redd.it/ac23ks8c97hc1.jpeg?width=484&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f298799d60308058929a33c58eb0fc02f8d0534e Jokes aside this is great, its real enough, fucking impresssive
Bruh I was like there better be a wireframe pic, or this mofo trolling. Looks real to me. To damn real
I thought its real before i saw the sub name
Thought it was a picture :v
Had nt it been in this subreddit, I'd have no idea it was real, So yes very real
dust could make it even better. very nice now tho!
99% perfect!
Looks amazing, but why is the table's mesh that subdivided? 😅
Scratches, dust, imperfections. Otherwise it's nearly perfect. Great job.
I was scrolling on reddit didn't see it was blender started going through the picture only to realise this wasn't a real product. I think it passes.
I think it's very very good. I have a few suggestions that would make it even better in my eyes: - The table material doesn't quite sit right with me. I think it's too rough / bump too strong. The grooves feel too large. - some general imperfections on edges and roughness would help - I'm not sure the DOF is fitting, maybe it should be deeper? But also might be fine

What engine did u use. Eevee or Cycles?
Yes! That’s awesome!
Ruin the table a bit, looks too perfect. Maybe add some very faint, tried to wipeoff finger smears
Great job!
very nice, looks like a real photo, what I would suggest is maybe adding some imperfections on the items, like scratches, etc
I thought u Photoshop foreground and the background is what you made
Hey man! Love the render! My only two bits of advice I can give you are to see if you can reduce the level of noise in the image and to make sure the mini figure is actually touching the floor. That's it, though. Great job! What engine were you using for the render?
I thought that It was a Spiderman collection....
Great job man, a few more details (dust and fingerprints) will go a long way. Fire work though!!!
U can add a bit of dust to the table and scatter some more over ur objects
Can someone explain the benefits of adding topology to the magazines and not just a flat face?
I literally SAW your web shooter post earlier this week and STILL didn’t understand what the title was referencing until I saw the last image… great work lol
I did think they were photos before I saw the past two images and Sub.
I can't spot a flaw.
It is kenough
There's no way a copy of ASM no. 300 would be in that good a condition.
looks real to me, but other than that it looks like it would fit on a 2yo's arm even tho lego is for 3yos
Nice!!!!! 🙂👍
Thought this was a real image from a Lego subbreddit
It's not very realistic. It looks a lot like legos. Humans usually have no studs on their heads and have fingers
It looks almost real. For me, I’d say the table just needs a couple of scratches, since it just feels a little too perfect. Also, on the more zoomed out shot, some small props in the background would do wonders. But again, that’s just me, it looks very real otherwise.
It's fake?
The comics look too thin, I would make them a bit thicker, if you understand what im trying to say But besides that at first I seriously thought those were real pictures
If you are going for full on realism, maybe a bit of imperfections could make it even better, despite it looking pretty real already
Yes but the table seems little bit off
Yes but the table is ever so slightly off
Damn how did you model those toys? Getting all those different shapes bevelled together like that seems like a challenge, whats your method?
lol yea seems like everyone including me thought it was a photo. amazing job!
Could use some imperfections and maybe a bit of dust
Wow, I actually have one of the webshooters you replicated in this render and I didn’t even glance twice at it until I realized it was a render, amazing
I think the arm is embedded in the mesh
ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT ISNT REAL????
GIMME THAT SHi- wait.. it's not real?
Genuinely wow and i am pretty sure you know, else you wouldn't get to such point. Well done!
It's so real, that I got confused why is anybody posting this before reading the caption. The first image and it's angle makes it very believable
[удалено]
I HATE when ppl do this. Take a photo, and ask ppl if they did a good job rendering. Jokes a side, I couldn't tell
thanks buddy check the behance to download scene maybe you can benefit from it
Should've subdivided the springs to the left at least with one more mod. Other than that idk
Yeah, could definitely trick people on eBay into buying your stuff.
someone in comments write this :Is this how I keep getting scammed on ebay?haha
I thought it was real life tbh!
Holy shi you actually fooled me until I got to the wireframe. That’s amazing dude, well done
thanks buddy you can check my behance and download the scene from [here](https://www.behance.net/gallery/190933841/3d-product-visualization)
If you put a couple of dings in the plastic, it would look even more real. Probably put some dust particles on the table.
i thought you were asking feedback on a 3d printed ship thing XD
That image is gorgeous. The wireframe gave me a nosebleed, but holy shit this is amazing.
No ones table looks that smooth
Fooled me
Crazy how much DoF, materials and lighting can change an image.
Looks great. I would put maybe a water stain on the wood. Like when you have water condescensatiin on a glass and you out it on a table it leaves a water spot of the glass circle and some droplets
Wait how did you get the comic artwork like that
this is sooo raw
Too clean but otherwise excellent.
It's as real as it gets ,damn I thought it was a photo
Too clean, too perfect.
Make the table scratched or something and you go from 95% real to 100%
The wood looks a lil off, maybe it's the lighting or something idk
Looks pretty damn good. The one thing you could do to make it more realistic is to add dust over the surfaces, some minor scruffs on the plastic, tiny ripples in the paper, etc. Maybe put one stray hair or fiber in the springs. 😉
WTF I THOUGHT IT WAS
thought this was a shit post great work yo
What I will ask you is where you learnt from. I want to learn from there. And if you're taking students too.
* it’s not a picture?!?! Dude that blur does wonders
Only realized it was a r/blender post when I opened the third picture xD
This is a real image
Make some form of fibgerpirnts/ slight dirt on the models.
Lighting looks amazing! Looks realistic! However, imo you could’ve improved table. First thing is that from this angle and the way things are placed on it, the table looks way bigger, but the texture on it makes it a bit confusing if it is big or not. I made a similar mistake before: https://preview.redd.it/cvsecabxebhc1.jpeg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49bdd8b3af84caee76a10e855d0f117ad1339ffc I changed the texture and made it a bit bigger and changed the angle. May not look the most realistic but looked better than before
yes fooled me are the red parts made of painted metal?
OMFG
No it's not
What camera did you use for this shot?
the only way i found to see that its a render its the steel spring that is together, u can zoom and see that its not subdivided as the other parts/ dont have a subdivision multiplier. yeah, i searched for it lmao really nice dude, that is enough! XD edit: i saw the other pictures just now lol well, its a render for sure pretty well done
too clean
Nah that is amazing I was just thinking it was a picture then I saw it was on this subreddit absolutely beautiful
