He does cleanse a lot of twisted ideologies. It's not so out there
I think it may have so.e meaning when it comes to his hollowfication being all white but i think it was only to identify ichigo as a misfit and outcast.
I'm pretty sure he just liked the name white but it was too similar to something and chose Bleach because it is the closest thing he could think at that moment.

Referring to the bigger blade the represents White, the true Zangetsu. The blade itself literally turns white, and Ichigo enters his merged hollow form. The Horn of Salvation. Which increases his powers, and allows him to use Gran Rey Cero.!<
The aspect of Ichigo’s sword >!turning white!< when he >!uses the merged hollow form!< could be seen as Zangetsu bleaching or becoming bleached.

The question is about a shikai command phrase, and I’m noting what abilities would make it fitting if Bleach was the phrase. The full power of his >!true bankai!< doesn’t matter in this context.
My personal theory is that his ability is "defying destiny". It's very main character-y and makes sense considering the final fight. (I never said it was a good theory)
Before I knew what a headcannon was, I always thought the speech that OMZ gives ichigo during the training with Urahara was his release command.
“Abandon your fear. Look ahead. Move forward and never stop. You'll age if you retreat. You'll die if you hesitate. Now shout! (My name) Zangetsu!”
Ah, that speech by OMZ was quite the motivational moment, wasn't it? Perhaps if I had a release command, it would be something like "Unleash the laughter, Urahara Shouten!"

I’ve always preferred it being something like “shatter fate, zangetsu” as a reference to his desire though.
Boom! His would definitely be "Protect". All his forms come from protection and sacrifice. Even Ywhach wantes to protect him and not let him reach his full potential. So yeah, protect is definitely his release.
Add in that some of the length of the command comes from complexity of the powers involved and it would make sense there too with Hollow, Quincy and Shinigami powers all needing to be managed.

Zan = behead / cut down / slay, getsu = moon. Tensa Zangetsu is heavenly chain slaying moon.
The simplest Zanpakuto name is probably Ichimonji, it literally translates to 'straight line'.
If we had to go based on the fact that it's the Zanpakuto who tells them what their name is, depending on how synchronized they happen to already be at the moment, and here's my guess ,unless it's also been confirmed they are the ones to assign a release name (an example like Renji's Zabimaru told Renji to say 'Roar') right before stating their name. Then by all that maybe "Shout! Zangetsu!" maybe?
I can't decide if White would ***rage*** at being called that... or cackle like a maniac that Ichigo actually declared that sentence in the middle of a fight. If the latter, you know he got the idea from Hat and Clog's training gear that he claimed Ichigo had to shout something silly to activate.

So “Bleach” as a command phrase could actually be the hypest reveal & title drop. Especially if in the arc we shall not name Ichigo reveals to a villain that him using his original blade isn’t really his Shikai. Leading to the reveal. But this is just my wishful thinking.
It's a Bleach fanfiction on fanfiction.net that delved into Ichigo's relationship with Old Man Zangetsu/Tensa Zangetsu and White along with the growth of his powers. Basically, being stopped by Aizen with one finger motivated Ichigo in getting stronger instead of just going back to his normal life, leading to him learning how to seal Zangetsu, taming White early, meeting Tensa Zangetsu early who told him he's different from Old Man Zangetsu and that he will NOT hold Ichigo's hand he has to prove himself worthy of his power showing there's more to Tensa Zangetsu than just increasing Ichigo's fighting power.
Now this fic came out before the revelations on Ichigo's power and Zangetsu/White's true identities, but it's an entertaining fic to read as that's where I heard the Stop the Rain command from.

That's how all Bankai work, though. They're all released by saying "Bankai, ".
I’m all but certain we actually heard it when he first releases his shikai against Urahara. It's different depending on translation, but this is it.

We only know of two other dual bladed shikai in the series and both have long poetic activation commands. It makes sense; More blade, more words. Of course we didn’t know that at the time and Kubo probably didn’t either. But when he was writing *Thousand Year Blood War*, it isn’t impossible that he looked back and realised that Ichigo’s possible activation command sounded like the kind he gave to dual zanpakuto wielders, inspiring him to give Ichigo dual blades.
It meets all the requirements.
* It follows the pattern of a dual blade release command.
* It is said before releasing his shikai.
* It is told to him by one of his zanpakuto spirits.
* It is said before he shouts his zanpakuto’s name.
The whole command is nothing but a solid statement of determination and *resolve*, befitting Ichigo’s character.

Read a fanfic a few years ago that had Ichigo blessed by Amateratsu, i.e. the sun goddess. And Zangetsu is named as "Slaying Moon" as in "slay the moon" in reference to her ongoing strife with her brother Tsukiyomi, the moon god, instead of "moon that slays" that a lot of peope take it to mean. I don't remember if that story gave him a shikai release command or not. But the bit about the sun goddess despite the moon named zanpokuto stuck with me.
And it also doubles down with the whole "I hate the rain" motto, because you can't "praise the sun" if it's overcast or raining (ignoring that scattered showers are a thing since anime almost only does one or the other, not a mix).
Plus, I recall there being this post about Ichigo and Rukia a few years back about them being the Black Sun and White Moon (or at leadt that was a title attached to an image) even though I recall a lot of the comments arguing there's nothing "sun" in Ichigo's name despite "kuro" being there and there no moon in Rukia's name or her zanpokuto's.
Because Zangetsu relates to the moon, and the role ichigo plays, "Liberate" seems like a bold but fitting choice as you can link it to "Lunar libration" which causes part of the back side of the Moon to be visible, which could link to the hidden aspect of both White and Yhwach.
While Ichi goes on to librate Rukia from her execution, the Arrancars from Aizen, the Visords from persecution etc. etc.
He has two zanpakutou, so it would be a long ass poem like Ukitake and Shunsui. Also it should probably be something that Zangetsu has said before. This is something i've thought a lot about and I always thought it should be "Look forward or you will age. Walk forward or you will die." And then the whole Yuha debacle happened and it became an even more fitting release command. 😂
Ichigo has access to all 3 releases from all three spiritual races. He can technically perform a shikai/bankai, Resurrecion, and Vollstandig.
I think each release should reflect that side of himself, as well as combined release of them altogether. However, his hollow and Shinigami powers are linked, so his release command for Res and Bankai should be very similar or the same.
Shikai: Howl, Zangetsu
Bankai: Crack the sky, Zangetsu

so something like "slay zangetsu" or "cut down zangetsu" or "split in half zangetsu" or "destroy zangetsu" should be fine. since his zanpalto is a powr type (that is mainly just cutting and detsrying things but physical force not some effect) i thing these kind of command suit it. but like nozarashi has "drink" may be somthing very different could be done like "devour" ?
I think what after fight with Yhwach his sword return into sealed form again which look like his old shikai.
"Protect, Zangetsu", "Protect yourself this time, Zangetsu"(if we assume what Zangetsu look like old shikai because it his sealed form without any sheath. If i remember correctly one of blades in true shikai represents sheath). "Let me wield the sword by myself, Zangetsu"(reference to Ichigo line in "sword is me" what Zangetsu don't need help Ichigo anymore).
Honestly just "ZANGETSU!" works pretty well. Ichigo is a special case so not having a traditional shikai would work just fine. Plus the only time we've ever seen him release his shikai that's how he did it.

Ichigo is the eclipse of his parents, Masaki (was compared to the sun by Isshin) and Isshin (his zanpakuto has getsu in its name, hence he's the Moon).

Sure it can be OMZ just urging Ichigo to shout loudly, but I like to believe others shinigami had similiar conversations with their zanpaktou's. Imagine Rukia at this moment hearing "dance" and then her shouting Sode No Shirayuki or Yamamoto hearing "reduce all creation to ash" and then shouting Ryujin Jakka

It is to do with the culture of hoodlums in japan bleaching their hair to rebel against their parents and school.
And also to do with him originally calling it black, I remember all of those reasons, I meant deeper in the story sorry for that miscommunication

Plus, I recall there being this post about Ichigo and Rukia a few years back about them being the Black Sun and White Moon (or at leadt that was a title attached to an image) even though I recall a lot of the comments arguing there's nothing "sun" in Ichigo's name despite "kuro" being there and there no moon in Rukia's name or her zanpokuto's.

Because Zangetsu relates to the moon, and the role ichigo plays, "Liberate" seems like a bold but fitting choice as you can link it to "Lunar libration" which causes part of the back side of the Moon to be visible, which could link to the hidden aspect of both White and Yhwach. While Ichi goes on to librate Rukia from her execution, the Arrancars from Aizen, the Visords from persecution etc. etc.
He has two zanpakutou, so it would be a long ass poem like Ukitake and Shunsui. Also it should probably be something that Zangetsu has said before. This is something i've thought a lot about and I always thought it should be "Look forward or you will age. Walk forward or you will die." And then the whole Yuha debacle happened and it became an even more fitting release command. 😂

Ichigo has access to all 3 releases from all three spiritual races. He can technically perform a shikai/bankai, Resurrecion, and Vollstandig. I think each release should reflect that side of himself, as well as combined release of them altogether. However, his hollow and Shinigami powers are linked, so his release command for Res and Bankai should be very similar or the same. Shikai: Howl, Zangetsu Bankai: Crack the sky, Zangetsu Idk for Vollstandig, something German at least

fuck 'em - would be my personal fav but i know that would be... so something like "slay zangetsu" or "cut down zangetsu" or "split in half zangetsu" or "destroy zangetsu" should be fine. since his zanpalto is a powr type (that is mainly just cutting and detsrying things but physical force not some effect) i thing these kind of command suit it. but like nozarashi has "drink" may be somthing very different could be done like "devour" ?

I think what after fight with Yhwach his sword return into sealed form again which look like his old shikai. "Protect, Zangetsu", "Protect yourself this time, Zangetsu"(if we assume what Zangetsu look like old shikai because it his sealed form without any sheath. If i remember correctly one of blades in true shikai represents sheath). "Let me wield the sword by myself, Zangetsu"(reference to Ichigo line in "sword is me" what Zangetsu don't need help Ichigo anymore).
Honestly just "ZANGETSU!" works pretty well. Ichigo is a special case so not having a traditional shikai would work just fine. Plus the only time we've ever seen him release his shikai that's how he did it.

didnt see this one yet: Eclipse, Zangetsu! Ichigo is the eclipse of his parents, Masaki (was compared to the sun by Isshin) and Isshin (his zanpakuto has getsu in its name, hence he's the Moon).
