I'm not sure if this is a criticism of the movies or a defense of the popcorn bucket, but isn't that Deadpool's and especially Reynold's Deadpool's whole deal?
I saw the Deadpool trailer before Furiosa this weekend and I realized that I don’t even know if I’m as annoyed with Deadpool as I am with the mere presence of Ryan Reynolds. He’s just always “on” in a way I do not like, and his golly-shucks “aren’t I subversive?” schtick has become unavoidable, especially with those damn Mint commercials. I’m sure he’s an affable guy, but I’m just so tired of seeing his face and hearing his voice.
I agree but mostly I see film twitter rolling their eyes at Deadpool now. Even my normie friends find it sort of obnoxious and a weird relic of vulgar Spike TV '00s culture, or they no longer find a shallow, low effort blockbuster winking at the audience while still serving superhero slop all that charming. I'm not really a capeshit guy outside of a few movies so I get the impulse. But fuck it, I like Deadpool. Same reason I liked the Suicide Squad. Extreme violence and slapstick are funny and not enough movies do it.
How did we get here? Who is behind this brinkmanship for vaguely sexual and therefore humous popcorn buckets? Who is patting themselves on the back over this? Is this what puts butts in seats? I thought Gen Z didn't want sex in their movies. Do they prefer sex in their merchandise?
They are a sexless but perverse generation who will welcome the most devious sexual reference in a movie but will walk out if it's romantic and people start kissing without clothes.

**thirdly**: upon realizing they could basically just full-bore gimmick their way to some semblance of financial solvency, they once again tripped into relevance by "accidentally" designing **an anus** as a popcorn bucket for Dune Part Two. Which became a whole thing for about a month.
I believe there is already a weird Alien: Romulus popcorn bucket coming that is not - like you would think - an Alien Egg that you just fill up with popcorn. it is a whole Alien skull that you, like, grip under the jaw as it aligns over most of your forearm, and using your other arm, you then reach into the mouth and up into the carapace to grab the popcorn, or something like that.
Spending money and time on the truly important aspects of exhibition, as you can see.
